What I was wondering though is who the guy was doing the play by play? He called the matches like I imagine Jim Nantz calling a wrestling match only he didn't rip on Phil Simms golf game. I don't know if it is a style that would hold up on the big shows every week, but it was a refreshing change from what we have been getting.

It was the Ryder/Smith match that I watched so it must have been Scott Stanford. I like the fact that he doesn't feel the need to constantly jabber letting us actually focus on the match. It's probably a habit which the company will break, but I'll enjoy it for now.

His work with Punk was particular good for the last couple of weeks, unfortunately Lawler is back with him now. But even Lawler is better with Stanford than he is with Cole because there's not so much stupid BS to play off of. | Oliver

Stanford also does those promo shill pieces here in Canada where they try to sell everyone on those Mattel toys or the latest WWE movie. I've never caught his play by play, though.
