Velocity:

*WWE Tag Team champions MNM defeated Roadkill and Danny Doring.

Smackdown:

*Show opens with video package announcing JBL will have a victory speech "tonight" for his victory this Sunday against Batista for the WWE World championship.

*Rey Mysterio defeated Super Crazy via DQ. Eddie Guerrero comes down and does commentary several minutes in. Mysterio hits the 619 on Crazy. Guerrero grabs one of the lawn mowers and breaks it over Rey's back for the DQ.

*They did a video feature on two great Americans - JBL and George Washington.

*Backstage, Eddie Guerrero tells Teddy Long that he's leaving. Long says that he isn't going anywhere because he has a match tonight. When he questions who he is wrestling, Long says it's a secret.

*Backstage, Josh Matthews interviews Christian. They keep showing footage of Christian hitting the Unprettier on Booker T. Christian says that he's going to defeat Booker at the Great American Bash.

*Backstage, Road Warrior Animal is putting on his makeup. Heidenreich comes up to him and says he has a poem for Animal. Animal says he is more like Hawk than he thought.

*They air another video on two great Americans - JBL and Neil Armstrong.

*Animal & Heidenreich defeated Julio Dinero and Nick Berk, using the Doomsday Device for the win.

*Chris Benoit is the mystery opponent for Eddie Guerrero. He tells Guerrero that he's listening to the wrong people and even his wife is trying to reason with him. Benoit was busted open across the back of his neck and was bleeding badly. Guerrero walked out after about 18 minutes and near falls.

*They aired a recap of Undertaker laying out Muhammad Hassan's lawyer last week.

*Candice Michelle comes out and announces the United States military will see the PPV this weekend for free. Melina comes out and they mention that Michelle will be the referee this weekend for the Melina vs. Wilson match. She attacked Michelle and tries to pull off her skirt. Torrie Wilson made the save and ran off Melina.

*They aired a video on two great Americans - JBL and Martin Luther King.

*Booker T pinned Simon Dean. Simon said that he respects Booker, but not Sharmell because she goes to the buffet "Five times, Five times, Five times."

*They aired a video of two great Americans - JBL and Ronald Regan.

*JBL's "Victory Speech" features JBL coming out dressed like Uncle Sam as they drop red, white, and blue confetti. He says that last year at the Great American Bash he won the belt and he will again this year. He noted that Batista is on the cover of Smackdown Magazine and shows a mock-up of the "next issue" with JBL winning the belt. Batista hit the ring and ran off JBL and Orlando Jordan. Batista wore the Uncle Sam hat before losing.

Post-Show Dark Match:

*The Undertaker & WWE World champion Batista & Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero & Triple H & JBL. Guerrero and JBl walked out on Hunter towards the end of the match, leaving Undertaker pinned HHH with a tombstone after a 619 and a spinebuster.

It's going to happen. Hawkenreich. #*@$&!

But allow me to say (with a minimum of thrown eggs) that if anyone were to get this spot, it should have been Hardcore Holly. He's at least more credible as a brawler. If anyone on SD is ging to try to replace Hawk for a time in the Road Warriors, Holly has the right attitude and build.

Heidenreich's gimmick is too dependent on appealing to kids, and the WWE has done enough to water down the Road Warriors image already.

Guerrero-Benoit? 18 minutes? I'm watching.

The JBL stuff actually sounds hilarious as well. Hawkenreich, not so much.

Is this Doring and Roadkill's first WWE televised match? I think I'll have to watch Velocity this week. These guys, especially Roadkill, were waaay over with the ECW crowds.

I'm hoping this means the WWE is going to at least try to resurrect a dying tag division. It seems as though the WWE has forgotten how tag matches, even those following the "face-in-peril-build-to-hot-tag-clean-house" formula can really pop a crowd.

They spent so much time building the JBL character, and it looks like its still paying off. Realistically, a year ago how many people would have thought that Bradshaw would've become the most consistently entertaining character on the roster, and arguably keep getting better all year long?

Simon said that he respects Booker, but not Sharmell because she goes to the buffet "Five times, Five times, Five times."

Should it have been two more "five times"? With little stuff like this rounding out the card, sounds like the whole show is a must watch this week, although I could do without the Melina/Wilson garbage.

The logic behind Heidenreich/Animal escapes me, but I would have to disagree with your thoughts of Hardcore Holly as Animal's partner. For some reason, I think Holly looks too short for the job. Heidenreich is the right height, I think.

Maybe it's just the camera angle, I dunno...

Guerrero/Benoit sounds really, really good.

On Saturday, I'm gonna start some E-C-DUB chants in my apartment; and I don't care if my roomie is asleep when it's on. ROADKILL! DANNY DORING! The bWo! E-C-DUB! E-C-DUB! E-C-DUB!

I'm hoping for the same thing. You've got (1) Axl & Balls, whom they're giving tryouts too. (2) Vito & Nunzio have been paired up. (3) Trevor Rhodes & Garrison Cade doing the cowboy gimmick & (4) the Shane Twins who are under a development deal & could be up on one of the 2 rosters anytime now I guess.

Wouldn't it be a tad more far-reaching to take Heidenreich (if the WWE is really set on him being in the LOD), team him with a young, big, muscle-bound dude (Masters with makeup & a funky 'do?), and move Animal into the Paul Ellering role? At a minimum, it would give the team instant credibility with the Average Joe fan -- allowing the team to sink or swim on their own merits. Just let 'em explode in the ring, no-sell the jobbers they're matched against for about a month on SD, and see if they resonate with the fans...

BTW, I watched the RW's DVD last night. I was just a kid when the Warriors first exploded on the scene (and I remember being SO pissed when the WWF snatched the Powers of Pain before the Warriors could enact their revenge & have a killer feud), but upon watching the LOD again, what struck me was how unique they truly were. They were basically a cross between Goldberg, Stone Cold, and Piper -- but with the most distinct look of their time -- during a period when the AWA & NWA was (generally) populated with soft, 215-pound tacticians. Given how many times the LOD has been immitated (in rather mediocre fashion, I might add) over the years, the novelty of the war paint, spikes, and power offense has completely worn off.

Even in the BEST of scenarios, I don't know if you can recreate that Pleasure Dome...

I doubt Animal will stick around past this Sunday's PPV. Or, at least, I hope that's the case.

I wonder how long the E is planning on having Simon Dean do the double identity thing, and if they'll actually make some sort of angle out of it, ignore it and try to convince us that Dean and Hollywood Nova are two seperate entities, or just eventually phase one of the two out and act like nothing was ever out of the ordinary....

Part of me wants to see a split personality thing between the Dean and Nova gimmicks...

This could work, It's gotta be Foley style though. If I have to sit through another Al Snow wrestling himself type of match (didn't he lose that one too?), I don't know if can ever watch Smackdown! again! Horrific.

Velocity surely has been watchable these past couple of weeks. And if the BWO are truly having a match at the Bash, it will be the first Smackdown-only PPV I've taped because THIS would be a historical event, heh.

Gotta love the dual identity thing with Simon Dean and Nova. And thus far, anyway, WWE's acting like nothing's out of the ordinary, aside from a remark by one of the announcers at ECW One Night Stand.

I thought SmackDown! was quite good this week. Benoit and Guerrero put on a great match. Didn't care for the countout but I can understand why they wouldn't want either man to be pinned in that situation.

They sure have glossed over the U.S. Title thing though, right? Oh, Chris Benoit's got a U.S. Title match with Orlando Jordan? Could have fooled me, considering the complete lack of interaction between Benoit and Jordan since Benoit won that title shot. Which tells me that Benoit's going over in that match, and the U.S. Title will finally begin to mean something again. I mean, honestly, I think I can count on one hand the number of U.S. Title defenses Orlando Jordan has had!

Benoit, on the other hand, has a going issue with Eddie Guerrero, a potential "mutual respect" feud with Booker T, and any number of ways to create issues over the title with credible opponents.
