I missed the dark matches.

***VELOCITY***

Doug Basham beat Billy Gunn with help from Danny Basham.

Shannon Moore w/ Matt Hardy beat ???

#1 Contenders Match
Tajiri beat Billy Kidman with green mist to the face followed by a rollup.

Non Title Match
Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin beat APA with a rollup on Faarooq.

***SMACKDOWN***

El Paso's own Eddie Guerrero arrives to the arena in his car. Eddie walks to the ring through the crowd. Eddie gets on the mic. Eddie says this is where it all started. Eddie says he is at home. HUGE ovation. Eddie tells a story of when his grandmother first came to El Paso and cheated on her citizenship test. Eddie is interupted by John Cena coming to the ring. Cena does his usual rhymes saying Eddie does not belong here. Cena says Eddie has the US Title but he's not even an US citizen. Cena calls Eddie a wet back and says he's going to stick his foot up his ass. Eddie says Cena is pretty good for a white boy. Eddie says he is lying, that sucked. Eddie says Cena should not talk about his people where there are 12,000 of them there. Cena wants a shot at the US title. Eddie grants his wish and the match is on tonight. Cena says after he takes Eddie's title he will take his sister also. Eddie responds with an attack on Cena and clotheslines him out of the ring. As Cena is walking to the back Eddie rubs it in by doing a rhyme of his own.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Rey Mysterio beat Nunzio w/ Stamboli and Palumbo with a top rope leg drop.

-commercial-

Chris Benoit beat A-Train w/ Sable via the crippler crossface.

Backstage, Eddie is informed that someone is messing with his car.

-commercial-

During the break, Albert tells Benoit that he did not beat him clean as his feet were under the ropes. Benoit is attacked from behind by Rhyno. Rhyno and Albert leave together.

In the parking lot Eddie finds his car has been stripped down. The APA, FBI, and Funaki know nothing about it. Eddie attacks the FBI for laughing at him until the APA pull him off.

-commercial-

Brock Lesnar comes to the ring with a mic in hand. Lesnar says he is sick of everyone telling him he tapped out at Summerslam. Lesnar says it was a miracle because he's never tapped out in his life. Lesnar says he is not a quitter. Lesnar says things are not over between he and Angle. Lesnar demands a title rematch and calls out Angle. Angle appears on the oval tron making fun of Lesnar for being a whiny little bitch. Angle says he is coming to the ring and will make Lesnar tap out again. Undertaker rides his motorcycle to the ring. Undertaker wonders what all the talk is he hears about Lesnar regaining the title. Undertaker says Lesnar had his chance and he tapped out. Undertaker realizes it has been a long time since he's had his title shot. Undertaker warns Lesnar he should not worry about his rematch, he should worry about where he is tresspassing because this is his yard. If Lesnar has a problem leaving the yard, Undertaker will be glad to help him. Big Show comes to the ring. Show says he is 7'2 and 500 pounds and and has inflicted more pain and suffering on Angle, Lesnar, and Undertaker than anyone in the company, so he should get the title shot. Kurt Angle finally comes to the ring. Angle says he does not give a damn who he faces. Angle looks at Undertaker and says it would be an honor to make him tap in his own yard. Angle tells Show he has caused him pain and suffering just from his body odor alone. Stephanie McMahon comes to the ring. Stephanie says we will settle this the old fashion way. The next superstar to face Angle will be the winner of a triple threat match tonight between Undertaker, Lesnar, and Show.

-commercial-

Backstage, Josh Mathews asks Cena if he touched Eddie's car. Cena denies it.

US Title Match
Eddie Guerrero beat John Cena via DQ after the ref watched Cena punch Eddie between the legs. Cena came to the ring carrying one of Eddie's rims. After the match Cena decked the ref with his chain and choked Eddie with it. Cena then FU'ed Eddie on the rim. Long match.

-commercial-

Triple Threat No DQ #1 Contenders Match
(Kurt Angle at the announcers' table)
Brock Lesnar vs Big Show vs Undertaker
Undertaker pinned Lesnar with the last ride. Undertaker gets the title shot at Angle on next week's Smackdown in New Orleans.

After the match Angle enters the ring and he and Undertaker stare at each other. Angle leaves to the back. Undertaker salutes the fans and walks to the back.

Chimmel thanks everyone for coming.

Thats it...

---------
So TWGTT gets pushed to Velocity? What the hell? Eddie seems like he will be fun to watch again like always. So I guess Eddie is now a face and no longer a tweener.

Eddie's better when he ignores the crowd, just does his thing, and isn't sucking up to them or playing off their cheers. Ugh. Don't they see that he's got Austin potential with this current momentum? Let him run as a cheating heel and not be concerned about the crowd, and see how much bigger he gets.

I'll watch on Thursday, mostly for Eddie and for Lesnar... but I know already I'll cringe a little if I see Eddie sucking up to the crowd in a face kinda way.

Pretty hard for Eddie to get heel heat in his home town. Like Bret in Canada or Austin in Texas. I expect his persona will be back to normal next week.

I don't know about that. Seems like they're pretty set on feuding him with John Cena, a top heel.

Quick note: Smackdown's preempted in New York till Saturday at 8:00, due to football.

Nice to see the Cruiserweight title defended, of course Ultimo wrestles a dark match.

Eddie-Cena sounds like a good feud.

No Vince at all. I guess he's on RAW this month.

I wonder who'll get the bigger face reaction, Angle or Taker.

Sounds like an good Smackdown.

SD is pre-empted in Philly, too. Airs Saturday @ 10:00 PM.

Anyway, looks like a good show. However...

Undertaker pinned Lesnar with the last ride

Big Show is right there, why couldn't Taker pin Show? You spent the better part of the last few weeks building up Lesnar as an unstoppable monster, and then have him tap out to Angle, then get pinned clean by Taker? WTF?

Glad at hear they're at least *open* to seeing the possibilities of a face Eddie Guerrero. But if this a permanent face turn, it may be a bit too soon....

Instead of complaining on the face heat Eddie got on one night in his hometown, why not appreciate the fact that we got a fued with two charismatic performers.

Couple other things:
1) Where's Matt Hardy?
2) What's up w/ Rey & Kidman? Where's the Kidman heel turn?
3) Why are Haas/Benjamin on Velocity? Why are they messing around w/ APA? Are they done w/ Rey/Kidman, and if so, why didn't they use that opportunity for the Kidman heel turn?
4) No Jamie Knoble = sadness
5) Taker better tap next week. Taker shouldn't make Angle look like a punk, only picking up the win through luck or interference (see, Taker "putting over" Cena).

From 1W

"WWE.com has an article online talking about Matt Hardy, who suffered a concussion last week during the Smackdown tapings when Rey Mysterio Jr. gave him a West Coast Pop and drove him headfirst into the mat. Hardy did not wrestle on last night's Smackdown taping as a result (he did accompany Shannon Moore for his Velocity match), but is expected back in action this weekend. The article features quotes from Hardy, and talks about other concussions he has suffered in his career."

I guess Brock Lesnar is "paying his dues" now with all these jobs. He won't be special at all anymore, he'll just be like everybody else.

No Vince, and Stephanie in just ONE segment is just what I need after the McMahon filled RAW.

I think it will wind up that it was CHAVO who sabotaged the lowrider. The next Smackdown PPV isn't until October so a mini-feud between them on TV could really cement Chavo as a singles player. It worked for Owen when he feuded with Bret.

I always get a bad feeling when Angle is going to be wrestling The Undertaker but we'll worry about that next week.

Who said I don't appreciate a Cena/Eddie feud? I've been looking forward to this feud since a backstage segment last year when Eddie/Chavo (both heels) had a run-in with Cena/B-Squared. I just think they could do all this in his hometown (or anywhere else for that matter) without the sucking up. Doesn't matter if it's his hometown or not - the fans LOVE this guy right now and he doesn't NEED to suck up to get their cheers. But I'm hoping that it's happening this week only because it's his hometown.

Guys like Christian and Lance Storm are booed in Canada more than they're cheered because they don't play to the crowd. Eddie will get cheered no matter what he does.

It's my own opinion that sucking up to the fans makes Eddie look weaker, character-wise. So instead of nitpicking my opinion which I am entitled to have, why not appreciate that this is at least one fan who was actually liking how WWE was booking one of their wrestlers until they jumped the gun a little early. Eddie is one of the highlights each week in WWE's television.

Smackdown looks promising this week.

I agree with the whole Eddie thing ... you can't just flip flop him face to being a face ... what gets him pops is the fact the he's a cool heel ...

But at least we've got the makings of a decent feud.

Wait if I read this right there are only 4 matches in 2 hours?? So we get:

Rey Mysterio vs Nunzio
Chris Benoit vs A-Train
Eddie Guerrero vs John Cena
Brock Lesnar vs Big Show vs Undertaker

I hope they turn out to be good matches if their are only four. Eddie seems like he will be the star of the show and that alone makes me happy.

Is it short because it's the 90 minute Smackdown this week because of UPN premiering "The Mullets"? Or is that next week?

Who in the blue fuck did Haas and/or Benjamin piss off? THE best tag team in the entire effing company (RAW *or* Smackdown!), and they're competing on the dead air that is Velocity.

Bah. Vince? What are you doing?

For the love of God, man. (tm J.R., of course)

Keep Eddie as the tweener heel, he is just so great at it. There is no need to tweak or change his persona, IMHO it ain't broke, so don't F*ck with it!

Yeah who did Haas and Benjamin piss off? La Resistance gets more TV time than they do ... what a travesty ... I personally wish they were still with Kurt, but I understand that had ran its course.

And Sean O'Haire can't even get a dark match now?

Speaking of dark matches, it's nice to know that WWE spent so much time hyping the hell out of Ultimo Dragon just to have him wrestling said dark matches every week.

It was a good wrestling show. The NXT cupboards feel really bare right now, but everyone tries really hard. I enjoyed Breeze/Zayn, but giving Breeze the win seemed like a reach.
