Building off of Raw, this week's Smackdown was focused on the three wrestlers singled out by Renee Young on Monday, Big Show, Dolph Ziggler and the Miz. Opening the show with all three of them on MizTV, Ziggler and Big Show were reluctant to talk about their issues with management, and Triple H interrupted Miz before he could do so. A browbeating for all four resulted, followed by matches being booked. Miz vs. Orton (the Shield made their way down to intimidate Miz, helping Orton get the win) and Ziggler vs. the Shield 3 on 1 (corner powerbomb > Spear). Big Show, meanwhile, was forced to sit at ringside and watch the whole show. JBL and Michael Cole finally referenced Big Show's ironclad contract, saying that it was only as good as the COO let it be. Well, that's not really ironclad now, is it?

Daniel Bryan saved the Miz from the post match beatdown, running in with a chair to chase the Shield and Orton away, which led Vickie Guerrero to call him a bully and put him in a match against The Ryback in the main event. And yes, for those keeping score, The Ryback did call himself The Big Guy again. Bryan had the match won with the YES!lock, leading Orton to run in and receive a YES!lock of his own, leading the Shield to run in for the four on one beatdown. Big Show had finally had enough with that, getting up to interfere, but Triple H made his way down to emasculate him and force him to stand down, letting the triple powerbomb by hit on Bryan to end the show.

What do you think Sheamus would be doing in this storyline if he weren't injured now?

In other developments, Paul Heyman talked about his upcoming handicap match against Punk, saying that he was scared to death but noting that if he'd done all that he's done to Punk already just because he could, imagine what he'll do when backed into a corner. The Wyatt Family beat Tons of Funk, again. RVD beat Damien Sandow easily enough. And.. there were lots of Raw recaps, even including AJ's speech.

Thoughts?

I enjoy the fact that Miz/Ziggler/Big Show have all extensively feuded with Bryan in the past, which might also be used as a reason why they're not chomping at the bit to help him.

Smackdown is really good as of late, as is RAW. Might have something to do with Daniel Bryan being the - de facto - face and beard of WWE right now.

Big Show = ACTING!

Man, that crowd is going to pop when he finally slugs Hunter in the face.

This might've been the best Smackdown of the year, by virtue of being the only meaningful Smackdown of the year. I guess there was that one where Del Rio won the title. 6 of the ... 10, is it? segments went to the main event angle.

Big Show's inner torment!! Impromptu "knock him out" chants. I love this angle. Triple H was very good too. I like the new 2013 twist on the evil bosses where they're more corporate/PR zombies than evil millionaires. The angle seems like it's designed to deliberately tap into a lot of negative emotions people have with the WWE -- too institutional and PG, overbearing McMahons, HHH burying people, won't push small guys.

I also really liked Orton getting into the viciousness of a Shield beatdown. Randy started out getting star cheers and by the end of the match, everyone was behind Miz. By the end of the show, "Randy sucks." That pop for Daniel Bryan's run-in. Damn. The pop of a main event superstar babyface.

So the question from Monday, has Miz replaced Mark Henry in the angle? ShowMiz rides again? I guess you can only do one shackled giant, so it'd be harder to get heat on Mark Henry and he's laying low for now. Does the comeback start Monday? It's probably time for a glimmer of hope.

I appreciate the attention to detail, even when the attention is "hey we'd like to do something else now." Apparently Laurinaitis made some overreaching promises with that contract he couldn't keep. They should say it's like Lesnar's no-compete and it would never hold up in court.

And yes, for those keeping score, The Ryback did call himself The Big Guy again.

My worry is that it seems to be building Big Show up for the big knockout punch on Triple H, when it should be Bryan getting the first blow in on the major villain.

Well Bryan doesn't have an iron-clad contract* to save him from hitting the boss. I could see Show finally wailing on HHH the Shield giving him an ultimate beatdown only to be saved at the last second by Bryan.

While Firebreaker Chip continues to demand ridiculous perks and an exhorbinant salary, their is no hope in putting out the fire.
