Well this was my first wrestling show I attended live since Wrestlemania 17 at the Astrodome in 2001. I certainly had a ton of fun, especially when I was sitting about 10 feet away when Benoit twice slapped Finlay in the kisser. Getting to see that match live was superb since I had no idea it was going to happen, and then when I realized it was . . . holy crap.

Really good show this week. Though I'm not too excited about whatever they are cooking up with The Boogeyman and Finlay. I think Kennedy is still developing really well as the main heel of Smackdown.

Also for once WWE wasn't treating it like a B show with all the star power they loaded up and made it seem like there were some important developments this week. Just saying, if Smackdown ratings are so strong for the CW right now, imagine what would happen if WWE actually put the effort and hype into Smackdown they do for RAW.

I like the Deuce and Domino team, but I hope they just don't become a team that loses gas in less than a few months and is already back to obscurity or nothing. I liked the tag match and that they beat the champs clean. But where are Regal and Taylor?

I can only imagine the horror that will come next with Vicky Guerrero and the WWE.

The attendance for this one episode of Smackdown outdid No Mercy 2005 which is pretty cool. I'm looking forward to Vengeance in June.

I only watched the Finlay vs Benoit match. It wasn't their best ever, but I was really starting to get into it. They were battling for leverage, Finlay was doing a number on Benoit's knee, and they were selling it as a fight. What's not to like about this setup, and then out of nowhere we get a totally gimmicked and almost Russo like finish. Unreal. I felt robbed and ended up watching something else from that point on.

Edit: Crap, barely beat out by another thread ... but my title references the hit show 2-2-7

I think it was total bullcrap that they did the big match ring introductions, and then had the freakin' Boogeyman ruin it. Makes Benoit look bad, because Finlay had been controlling the match, and it makes Finlay look bad because now he has to fight the Boogeyman.

Maybe the finish wasn't great, but watching Little Bastard try to fight from being drug back underneath the ring was great comedy.

I know it makkes sense since Lashley wont be involved in the NWO main event, but him left off the end when the other 2 champs were there almost makes ECW feel like an afterthought.

Which is exactly what it should be.

I wasn't too upset about the finish to the US title match. I was simply too stoked about being able to witness that match-up live and I was happy Benoit retained.

I think Vince's comments about what the fans want is kind of indicative of a lot of the problems with WWE right now. But I'm actually pretty excited about the Mania build up right now. At least more so than last year.

Wasn't ECW following Smackdown? So technically Lashley couldn't be there yet, it would give away the plot for the ECW show.
Though ofcourse it looks lame when he doesn't show up on 'Friday' yeah..
I bet he will be there on Monday.
Perhaps it would have made more sense if they had done a confrontation with -all- champs after ECW went off the air and just mix that into the SD show, but I guess that's pretty much impossible (aprons, banners, etc)

*sigh* Why bother?

The whole thing could've been solved simply by not giving us yet another Lashley/Test ECW Title match that no one wants to see.

But in any event, we all know 'Taker's not going to challenge Lashley at WrestleMania, and that the ECW Title (even if it did spin off of the WWE Title) is in no way equal to the WWE or World Heavyweight Titles, because the ECW brand is a piece of shit right now.

Meanwhile, the NWO main event ought to be interesting. I wonder if Michaels and Cena will still have the World Tag Team Title at that point. (My guess is no, Michaels will have turned on Cena before then). Seeing Cena and Batista fighting each other for the first time since the '05 Royal Rumble (I believe) will be interesting too.

No disrespect intended for HBK in the slightest, but I'd be more interested in seeing Cena/'Taker at WrestleMania than Batista/'Taker.

I have this stinking feeling that we're going to see a little Boogeyman sooner than later ...

The Finlay/Boogeyman thing doesn't bug me too much, because you can see why they're doing it. Finaly was responsible for dragging Lashley and Batista's best matches outta them last year, and they probably want the over-but-terrible Marty Wright to get the same treatment.

Good show overall.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
