Midwest indy wrestler, has worked some shows for ROH and was in ECWA's Super 8 this year. He also did a couple of Xplosion matches for TNA, I guess, and has had an appearance on Heat last fall. He has a magic carpet and does a flying splash with it. Nothing special in any way, but he's Iranian and has a frame that looks like it could be bulked up pretty easily.
EDIT: He worked a dark match against Rodney Mack just a few weeks ago, so that could be why they picked him up.
Originally posted by Phantom LordI thought the flying carpet was stupid, but with a probabal war with Iran coming up in the next year or so it's a good idea to sign someone who is Iranian.
Maybe this all fits into The Evil Muslim tag team with Jimmy Snuka Jr. that was rumored to be coming up through The Valley?
Hey, maybe we can bring back The Iron Sheik to yell "America, ptooey" and have Sgt. Slaughter turn his back on his country again.
La Resistance is one thing (a country that gained controversy after refusing to assist the United States in its invasion of Iraq), but I think the days of having heel characters representing countries we're in a direct conflict with are over. I realize it's jumping the gun to say we'll go to war with Iran (I don't personally think we will), but with the war on terror...you know what I'm getting at.
Him getting hired has nothing to do with the scope of his work, really. From what I can tell, he seems quite capable of wrestling a big-time, TV-style match. Alex Shelley has said he's had difficulty learning to adjust to that style in TNA. Whereas the top indy workers have more time and freedom to work with, sticking them in a situation where they have to change up their style to fit it into five minutes that will hopefully tell some semblance of a story can be a problem. Daivari seems more sports entertainment than a lot of guys, and I think his career goals were more focused on WWE than many of the ROH/other indy guys, who seem to know that they may work out better in Japan or someplace ideally. Spanky's decision to leave WWE had a lot to do with that.
chill: chill. And for the record, my editing part of the original post cut out his name - that was MY fault, not his, and I apologize for that.
Dougie Nunny: also chill. You are more than welcome to link the site, and again that was my fault for not fixing the original plug into the actual link. I apologize for that also!
