They're local boys, famously near Edge in Asheville, NC. Dawson is from the town I moved to in 2004. I know folks who went to school with him. I root for them. I like their attitude, growing up as I did on Mid-Atlantic and NWA TV.

They got a better shot in the main roster than, say, Ascension, and it's hard to match the energy and packaging of a New Day or the size of the Bar or the top-rope swagger of the Usos. They're throwbacks. That's a hard sell for an audience for whom DX is their default throwback.

How did Edge wind up in Ashville of all places? Is that where Beth is from?

He told a local reporter a few years bsck that he liked the scenery and downtown when the WWE came through for shows. And at the time it was an up-and-coming art-heavy town. But now it's all hotels for tourists, and the rent prices prevent service workers from living close to their jobs. The local flair (woo) is being lost. Still good for live music and microbrews though.

The logic behind Heidenreich/Animal escapes me, but I would have to disagree with your thoughts of Hardcore Holly as Animal's partner. For some reason, I think Holly looks too short for the job. Heidenreich is the right height, I think.
