WWE RELEASES LUTHER REIGNS
From WWE.com: Luther Reigns released Luther Reigns has been released from World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
At this point, no details are available as to whether or not this was an isolated release or the start of another round of cost cutting talent releases...details to follow.
I really never got the appeal of this guy. He had no charisma, no real crowd connection, no nothing.

Agreed. Vince has always been known to prefer larger and taller wrestlers. Just my speculation, but I'm guessing he did something "Rhyno-esque" to piss off the company. I guess Team Angle V2 is dead. Has he been on Smackdown! recently or have I just not been paying attention?

Team Angle V2 broke up well before WrestleMania. They had a mini-feud that was half on Smackdown and half on Velocity. Jindrak beat Reigns clean with a punch.
As for Reigns...he wasn't bad in the ring. He was...okayish. I can't see why they'd get rid of him, aside for a Rhyno-sized screw-up. Or somebody stealing Reigns's wife/girlfriend.

Oh, totally. I'm a sucker for everyone who was in WCW at its end, and even I couldn't care less about Jindrak.
As far as Reigns (who I like okay, not as much as Tomko, as far as the big guys go) -- well, maybe there was a Rhynoesque incident...but Reigns got punked out by Jindrak for a couple weeks in a row (IIRC) and then did some quick jobs after that (including being fed pretty definitively to Booker), so it really seemed like his stock had been decreased in their eyes for some time now.

Guess I can delete my Luther Reigns CAW from Smackdown VS. RAW.

| #11 Posted on 11.5.05 2030.20 | Instant Rating: 2.01 | | I believe that I read somewhere that Reigns was sent home from teh recent European tour. However, the reason that was given was that his going back home was a result of some illness (possibly the flu, I don't remember). I guess that could be legit, but the timing is kind of coincidental. As far as Reigns goes, he was decent, and I guess that they could have done more with him, but who cares in the end. He's no better or worse than a lot of other people on the roster. | Bob C

At least, he could have done like Tomko and be a good sidekick that wrestle occasionnally in short matches.

Yeah The Torch mentioned it. But who knows, maybe illness is code for "getting really drunk/high" or something.

Still one of my favorite WCW Saturday Night moments of all time: "Look at 'im, Tony! His hair look like a horseshoe, and his name is Horshu! See, it look like a horseshoe, and he -- his name, his name is Horshu!" "That's great, Dust."
I'm proud to say I have been a mark for the 'Shu ever since.

Well he did pass through here recently (Ireland) for the Smackdown tour, so being drunk/high is the norm. He wen't over Charlie Haas, i'm pround to have witnessed his final match in WWE (Unless he was on another house show or Velocity).

| #20 Posted on 12.5.05 1229.04 | Instant Rating: 3.01 | Luther wasn't the best or most versatile talent, but I have a problem with this if they don't have someone else coming in to take his spot on the active roster. One of the biggest problems both shows have is a lack of depth - it's why we see the same matchups every week, and the biggest reason I cringe whenever they start chopping names. Every guy released obligates them that much more to feed the same guys out there week after week.
