Well, that was quick:

WWE releases Christy Hemme
December 5, 2005

WWE and Diva Christy Hemme have come to terms on her release. WWE.com will have more details as they become available.

I thought she had the right attitude and energy (even if she overused the one-foot hop with high-fist pump). But I'd much rather see her onscreen than the gal buddying up with Trish.

Colour me surprised. I thought her attitude reflected a genuine interest in the business, and trying in earnest to learn to wrestle.

Well, I guess we'll see how long Ashley Massaro lasts.

Maybe the WWE will start to realise that these contests (i.e. Diva Search and Tough Enough) are not the best way to recruit long term talent.

Hopefully this doesn't just mean that she shows up on Impact on Thursday night.

This sucks. I may be the only one who does hope that she does show up on TNA sometime soon.

This was posted on LoP:

Christy Hemme will be off television and the road for an undetermined amount of time. She's going to be taking a break to hone up her wrestling skills at Ohio Valley Wrestling School. Christy is serious about becoming a better wrestler and she really wants to focus on training. Christy will stay in OVW until she feels she's ready to come back to WWE. Here is the message she posted on her official website, ChristyHemme.com.

Hello everyone! It's been a while since the last update and I am so sorry! You all mean the world to me and I appreciate the support! I want everyone to know that I am serious about becoming a better wrestler and to really do that, I need to focus on training. With that said, I am going to take a break from traveling with Smackdown to train in Louisville, Kentucky at the Ohio Valley Wrestling School. I am going to stay there for as long as it takes to come back and kick some ass!!! I have one goal in sight and that is to grow at this craft that I have fallen in love with. Thank you so much to everyone who is supporting me. I promise I will make you proud! Remember to keep watching Smackdown on Friday nights at 8pm on UPN!!

Christy showing up in TNA would be roughly the polar opposite of Christian's jump. For their credibility's sake, I realy hope they don't bother.

This news is really a shame -- I can only hope it will teach Christy that steroids just aren't worth it.

I fast forwarded through all of Christy's segments, but I'm definitely going to miss her awesome, awesome theme song, which got me into the Hives.

Does "released" mean what it normally means or is there a bit more to this, I wonder?

According to her website post, she wants to train in OVW full-time. Either "released" means she was released from her high paying WWE contract and Christy is taking a big pay cut for a developmental contract, or she balked at the pay cut, in which case she was "released" completely.

The latter would suck ass. Christy worked hard, is great to look at, and continually improved. Hopefully, she's still with the company, just in OVW.

By the way, fix that subject heading, Matt. "The World Wide Web" releases a Diva?

I can't. I tried, but my edit window doesn't include the thread title.

Aww. But Micki James is, like, totally, awesome!

from that first (or technically 2nd) Diva Search, Christy showed a genuine love for the whole business, which is why I didn't mind too much when she won. I'll admit she did annoy me sometimes being overly peppy, but overal, I didn't have a problem with her. I even read during her off-time she'd train at the UPW facility here to improve. here's hoping for the best for her, whether in wrestling or elsewhere.

Thread title fixed.

"come to terms on her release" sounds like it was at least partly a mutual decision.

And you added the logo. I always forget those things. Thank you.

Now that some time has passed to process this, any reason to think she's leaving to pursue modeling or something similar to capitalize on the Playboy shoot?

The diva contest was on RAW, and she spent most of her career with the WWE on that show. Did she do anything on SD when she moved over?

I'm pretty sure she pumped her first in the air and kicked her leg up, then yelled "YEAH!"

Actually, the only stuff I can remember her doing was being aghast backstage when Teddy Long was talking about RAW, and being part of the interpromotional Diva battle royal during the Eddy tribute on RAW.

There have been and are certainly worse (and less enthusiastic) female workers, some of whom haven't made a quarter of the effort she put in. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of her in the E.

She jobbed to Melina a week or 2 before Survivor Series.

And she managed the LOD. Now who will help them handle the Dicks.

Edited: I should do better than just another Michael Cole line. I agree with all the nice things people have written about her in this thread, and give her a lot of credit. When she first won the contest, I wanted to kick her ass, and now I'm disappointed she's gone.

Welp, she just turned up on OVW television this past Saturday to start a feud with Aaron Stevens' valets, Beth Phoenix (who is a good wrestler, with a great face, but with great Robert-Crumb-drawn thighs that will keep her out of WWE, unfortunately) and Shelly. They were setting up a match with her and Matt Cappotelli against Aaron Stevens and Shelly that was filmed at the OVW Wednesday taping last week. So there's still one more WWE-related match left from her coming up.

She was fine in the match, although she seemed a bit awkward in her promo done for last Saturday's show (Matt had to very obviously cue her when it was time for her to speak). Ironically - from what was said above - Mickie James was involved in the setup of said match as well.
