So, I watched Raw last night (part of it anyway) for the first time in a long time. I clearly only saw a little (but there was no thread, so I figured why not start one even with little knowledge)

The last match: Jericho and Ambrose - with Ambrose winning clean and all the assembled masses at ringside - I am guessing the Money in the Bank match is going to be anyone but Ambrose or Owens. Owens is, for me, a guy who should fight and not talk so much. I didn't hear him get any heat on the Mic just - meh. And why was Zahn there? He was so silent. final thought: Ambrose's facial expressions are becoming even more weird than the last time I saw them.

The match before that: The Luchas and Owens/DelRio - I thought both Owens and DelRio looked weak against the smaller men and that the Pop-up powerbomb at the end was a fluke. Really? pleading with Stephanie over commentating and ring announcing and time keeping?

and the other thing I saw: AJ and Cena signing for the match. This is now the second time I have seen signing tables stay intact. It is destroying my faith in pro wrestling. I announced to the son that the tables were going over and they didn't Heavy disappointment.

Before that was a Cubs game, so that is all I have,

you talk about the rest. I am sure some ladies fought in skimpy clothing and whatnot.

Contract signing was cool. Excited for the match but not for the booking. Anyone can beat Cena once. Let me know when Styles wins the feud.

Did Cena actually call Styles the "penultimate underdog?" The fuck?

I'd pay money to watch Enzo and Xavier in a duel of wits.

Anderson and Gallows with the cheap heat and corny retorts. Such badasses.

Glad somebody else caught this. Conspiracy theory: Cena broke the wills and drove out Barrett, Sandow and Punk, the three guys who would have called him on using words for which he doesn't know the definition.

(Counter-argument: Xavier Woods would definitely know that's not what penultimate means and is also the guy most likely to actually say "That's not what penultimate means" to Cena on the mic on live TV. He must, therefore, be part of this conspiracy.)

Owens was great all night. The story of the tag match was much less about them looking weak and more about that they don't like or respect each other. Del Rio brings the stiffness against the Dragons so I'm usually ok with that combination and the exasperation of Owens with del Rio being able to do anything ("do I have to do everything") was great stuff. He's old school to the bone and it's great to watch.

"Heel" Styles is light years better on the mic than whatever we had as his character for the first few months.

I turned it off before the main because I have zero interest in Ambrose-Jericho againe. Ambrose does nothing for me in the ring. He's not my cup of tea and that's fine.

Zayn-Cesaro was good, as expected. Surprised Sammy won, and with that move no less, but it's good for the story they're telling.

The things you remember: I still remember Eddie whatshisname in PWI rhetorically asking in a column if the number-one contender to The Ultimate Warrior's IC title was The Penultimate Warrior. Good times.

I don't know that Anderson and Gallows have contributed much to the tag team division but as soon as they showed up it was like Styles mic skills lit up. I think he's a lot more comfortable now that he knows some people in the locker room.

They're really pushing the "Wrestlemania main event worthy" tag for matches at MitB. I guess that's OK, but I can't help but think:

a) You're telling us this show doesn't usually have matches this good and/or MitB is inferior.
b) You know these matches should be at Wrestlemania and yet you're not saving them for Wrestlemania.

Everything is awesome.

Seth in the Ambrose Asylum is a shining star. He clearly has that x-factor (and dresses like he's IN X-Factor). Reigns got a louder but mixed reaction that sounded exactly like the kind Cena used to get: kids and girls vs. smarks.

If we ever get Rollins vs. Owens, I'm in. I'm all in. Flip a coin to decide who's the good guy. I don't care.

First the Vaudvillains prevent a Dancing Steph moment and now this. THAT'S their real Main Roster Gimmick - denying the fans what they want in an opening segment.

NBA finals don't help, but they're going to be in real trouble when Monday Night Football comes back.

Hopefully, the WWE Universe realizes that Vince is right about Roman Reigns being the biggest, most charismatic star of the New Era and starts coming back home to the only game in town.

EDIT: 2.03 rating

I thought for sure all of the talk about Kofi wearing old man shoes was going to set up the Vaudevillains telling him they look sharp and asking where they could get a pair.

That's okay; SmackDown will have been established as the #1 show by then--ahahahahahahahaha!! I almost kept a straight face as I typed that.

EDIT: I MEAN TEDDY LONG AND KANE WANT TO RUN IT HOW IMPORTANT IS THIS SHOW

That is the correct use of "penultimate," since Daniel Bryan is the ultimate underdog. Obviously.

Where does that leave Sami Zayn, the Underdog from the Underground?
