Solid Raw from across the pond.

No Orton because Randy doesn't go to England, so no progression with that story. The whole show was a packaged way to have monster tweener Ryback turn on heel stable Authority, and it worked.

It also looks like Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt don't believe in passports either. Pretaped Ambrose pales in comparison to live action Ambrose.

I can easily see why a lot of people wouldn't find this show to their liking, however, since it was a lot of story progression which means a lot of nonfinishes to matches. Then again, I'm not Verne Gagne or Nick Bockwinkle, so I can dig that sort of thing if it means there'll be a payoff (which there was; establishment of the Survivor Series teams). Kinda wish I haven't been watching for so long so I wouldn't notice stuff as cliche sometimes, even if I think it's executed well. Granted, it wasn't the slow cooked feud that makes one salivate (SEE: Daniel Bryan v. HHH), but considering injured talent and all, it made sense.

Luke Harper brings a whole dimension of awesome to the Authority side of things, though, because Luke Harper always makes me watch for something crazy, specifically a huge guy who's nimble enough to wrestle lucha.

Miz and Mizdow are now number one contenders, which is moot since all this is doing is getting Sandow crazy over since people are noticing just how much he brings to a match while not even wrestling.

Adam Rose is going heel against a bunny while Eric Rowan has a thing for Tyson Kidd's wife all in one segment? Angle progression for the undercard? Neat!

Paige got a hometown pop.

The Bellas had more drama while AJ won a match, continuing a story where we have face AJ who isn't as entertaining as heel AJ. Overheard: "Why does one of the Bellas wear make-up that makes her look like a stripper?" "Because slutty is evil in wrestling."

But besides that, everything was all about setting up the Survivor Series teams for the ME.

I have to admit, I saw Ryback turning on the Authority a mile away. As soon as Kane wandered into Ryback's dressing room to 'advise' him I knew he was gonna push the Big Guy too far. The question is, where does this put him in the Survivor Series match now? Is he going to sit it out entirely or is he now going to be the fifth man in Team Cena? He would make more sense than Orton, at least. Of course, this raises the question of who's gonna be #5 for Team Authority. Maybe HHH laces up the boots?

Y'know, I have to admit as much as I disdain the Bellas, I do enjoy Nikki's little booty-twirl. So kudos to Nikki for doing what they're paid to do and look hot.

Mizdow was probably the most over guy we saw last night. I absolutely love what he does. The only question is, how to break him away from Miz without sacrificing the comedy that makes him so popular. Hard to believe this was the guy who was dressing up like Abe Lincoln a few months back.

This The Authority versus Team Cena story is a clusterfuck so far.

Team Authority starts with Rollins, Corporate kane, and Orton.
Team Cena acquires Dolph.
Authority loses Orton, gains Mark henry.
Cena acquires Ryback and Swagger.
Ryback turns on Cena, joins Authority.
Authority kills Swagger.
Cena gains Shaemus and Big SHow.
Authority gains Rusev.
Authority loses Ryback gains Luke Harper?

All this within two shows?! For the love of Jebus is there such a thing as too much swerve? I will applaud them for trying to flesh out multiple characters but the switching of members in both teams took some effort to follow tonight.

I also find it ironic that the WWE writers (more likely Grandpa Vince) are slow on catching internet meme trends when they have one of the hottest memes actively on their roster right now and don't know how to capitalize on it.

Luke Harper is the fifth man on the Authoritative team. The stakes are high for Triple H but not high enough for him to work Survivor Series. A Rusev/Ryback DCOR seems handy for that match.

The company's never had more athleticism and you still end up with such tall teams; I hope Ziggler and Rollins aren't self-conscious. It's pretty pathetic Cesaro couldn't make that match, but the Dolph push is as excellent as it is surprising, and close to the only positive thing going on right now (kind of like the Punk/Bryan team was last November). They almost have no choice in elevating Ziggler to fill the Bryan/Punk people's champ role, although they had little choice from Aug 2013 to Aug 2014 and still made him A Legit Jobber. I guess that means we cycle around to Cesaro's underdog sympathy push next year.

"Why did Cena's team run out separately at the end" is a worthwhile question but based on sports science I am willing to accept that Show, Sheamus, and Ziggler all started a dead sprint to the ring at the same time and Ziggler ran right into Harper's clothesline.

For the record, Orton is filming I'll Go To The Papers If I Have 2, Wyatt and Ambrose were headlining a house show.

Ryback continuity with Cena, Rollins, and Henry: amazing. Henry and Rusev: well. Lana should've fucken crushed Stephanie for mouthing off to the indomitable power of Putin, but what're ya gonna do.

Man. What's Big E gonna say to that choir? The Congregation of Domination is four months in the making.

I have no idea why I forgot about Harper dumping Ziggler in the Authority's locker room ... of course he's #5. So if Ryback completes the turn and joins Team Cena, we have Rollins/Kane/Rusev/Harper/Henry vs Cena/Ziggler/Shaemus/Big Show/Ryback.

I agree that Lana caved way too fast to Stephanie, especially after she insulted the Dear Leader. I have a feeling that's going to lead to Rusev walking out during the Survivor Series match, so they can have Team Authority lose without having Rusev pinned. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Team Cena wins, simply because even HHH and Steph must be getting sick of the Evil Authority angle by now, and this may be their last chance in awhile to finally put a bullet in this zombie's skull.

Looks like Harper and Rowan are getting singles pushes, though I somehow doubt that Rowan was looking for Natalya. I think she was just a red herring, and the one Rowan's really looking for is the backstage interview girl (whose name I forget). Not sure how that leads to him feuding with an actual wrestler though, so maybe he is trying to stalk Natalya and it'll lead to a feud with Tyson Kidd. I can't really take Kidd seriously though.

Good to hear Orton isn't actually injured (I'd heard he was hurt before HitC) and is off filming movies, but damn this is terrible timing. By the time he returns his crazy heat could well have dissipated, though if he keeps bringing the psycho intensity he had up until he was benched, I think he can keep most of the crowd behind him.

I was thinking about how hoss-tastic these teams are but ultimately decided the match could be pretty good. Harper and Rusev can both go and Sheamus is a pretty good brawler. There are a couple of big guys I like in NXT too so they've been developing the larger wrestlers pretty well lately.

I'm actually thinking Mark Henry and Big Show go the DCOR count. It makes sense since they have a feud going on that will probably go on beyond this match and both are big spectacles that you don't exactly want to get pinned. How do you protect Rusev in the match? He wins.

I do wish Cesaro was in this match. I'm sure he'd be there just to make others look good and probably eat the first pin of the match, but that would provide more than whatever Kane is there for.

This started at Raw in New Orleans right after Wrestlemania but didn't really pick up much. Then again, a lot of UK fans were at that Raw because Bad News Barrett was super over.

Lana just taking Steph's abuse because Every Heel Must Be Afraid Of The Authority was the most frustrating thing since...well, turning Ryback heel for a night after he's come back as a ridiculously strong babyface. Ugh this company.

If Luke Harper is still Luke Harper-Wyatt, I'm not sure I understand him going along with The Authority. Sure, the Wyatts don't like Cena, but they don't like anyone and isn't his first allegiance to Bray and second allegiance to the team with Rowan?

Disclaimer - I haven't been watching as closely because it hasn't merited watching closely lately.

Both Harper and Rowan have been "set free" by Bray and are presumably their own men now. While they aren't going against Bray, they can presumably otherwise choose their own allegiances and agendas now.

It will be interesting, though, when the day finally comes for any sort of confrontation (I would presume for Harper, as Rowan's not ready for prime time for a level of directly feuding with Bray, while Harper could be with a bit of time to grow). I'm also psyched to see how Harper changes the character to make it more his own. Basically, I just love Luke Harper. Luke Harper for underdog superpush.

It feels like they are packing too much into one Raw. Ryback not choosing a side should take a few weeks instead he turns then turns back in two hours. I am thinking getting Survivor Series free is probably a good thing, because I am not seeing much to spend money on.

Don't forget that we got Corporate Kane from the Wyatts brainwashing, so there is a link between them and the Authority still withstanding.

Bold move to bring out Ryback as the most over guy on the show, then run an evening-long angle that results in him being on the same side that he began, but slightly less over. Was this "let's book an episode-long plot with intrigue!" or was this "we know this crowd will be hostile to Cena, so let's book an episode-long plot that will make sure Ryback comes out just for the length of his match as a sellout heel so Cena gets a better sympathetic reaction!"?

Could be either!

The Stephanie/Lana exchange backstage truly was strange. That sure seemed to be planting the seeds for Rusev face turn, which...that would be unexpected. Or was it just yet another example in the recent, storied history of Stephanie/HHH not being able to help themselves and making sure they get to put every heel in their place in addition to the faces?

Could be either!

They're setting up a Reverse Funkasaurus with Woods/Kofi/Big E, right? Priming them with goofy vignettes and then having them debut as super-serious angry guys looking to create the Fall of (The) Man? There's a part of me that really wants to see Heel Kofi, because I think he could do it, but I have zero desire to see this company do a potentially racially-motivated heel faction, even if the racial aspects are never directly addressed. Feel free to disagree, but nobody in charge of this company has the skill to do this. If they do come in as heels, who do they feud with, anyway?

(Answer: Truth, for three straight weeks, and then he joins them. And then they randomly add Cesaro to the group to defuse things, and then they all beat up Ziggler for a month.)

I do like semi-reluctant face Ziggler. Out of everyone they've run out to be Cena's sidekick/mascot (unexpected "YA'LL LOVE DANIEL BRYAN LIKE ME, RIGHT?!" cameo last night!), Dolph wears it best so far, and the two of them are doing a good job of not acting like they like each other, but recognizing that this is basically their lot in life. They just kinda work together. This probably means Ziggler turns heel at Survivor Series, but here's hoping that it's Sheamus instead, since he's a better entitled heel and he can wear his jaunty little cap all the time.

I was going to complain/wonder about the faces coming out one-at-a-time at the end, but I like Justin's explanation. I'll add one wrinkle: let's assume Mark Henry was actually chasing them all, but ended up out there ahead of them just like what happened when the Nexus managed to lap him on Raw a few years back.

The only positive of adding Hornswoggle to the Miz/Mizdow gimmick is the possibility of some future segment where Sandow is cradling Hornswoggle and Hornswoggle says "You've ruined the act, GOB."

Fingers crossed for Corporate Harper. I'm assuming he's still got specific beef with Ziggler, or those Eyes promos were really superfluous, but as said above, anything that gets Harper into a top angle is good, plus Corporate Harper (and/or Cairp'rt Sheamus) has to be better than Corporate Kane. Is there a database that can tell us how many matches ended with "Kane interferes, drawing a DQ" in the past year?

Corporate Kane is actually a really great character he is just grossly overused. He should be doing the Commissioner Slaughter deal where he is a corporate figure head that occasionally gets pushed to far and fights a Boot Camp Match of Fire Match in this case.

Somebody else needs to be doing The Bossman Corporate Henchman gimmick, but everyone groaned when Bossman did it so maybe Kane is what they were looking for all along.

Guys sure get sweaty wresting across the pond, eh?

Luke Harper, don't screw this up guys. Actually why can't Rowan fill the old Kane role of guy who you face when you are in trouble or spill coffee? That's an important niche to fill.

I totally missed the Brand new Day segment. I'm begging for this too be a reverse Funkasaurus debut too. Like Big E, Kofi, Woods come out with the choir ushering them in during a big six man tag match. They are all smiles and "hey, it's a brand new day ya'll! Let's see you clap your hands!". The crowd not missing interaction cues starts to clap. They enter the ring amidst the confused competitors and then Big E steamrolls the person closest to him. Kofi and Xavier follow suit and just lays out everyone. Then they hold up the show in a violent sit in, where the next superstars try to enter the ring and the trio beats the shit out of them too. Forcing the Authority to listen to their demands and how they are tired of being treated like afterthoughts and aren't playing the modern day Men on a Mission either.

Yeah. Yeah. Now that you mention it, Rusev going Bad News Red on his team would be a fine (and possibly only justifiable) payoff to Stephanie pulling rank.

There is that too, but I figure this has to be leading to the xth straight month of Rollins improbably getting his hand raised while wincing from a throttling that it appeared would lead to his sure demise.

Speaking of throttlings, I know you just have to go with it, but Jack Swagger has been ruled out of a match two weeks from now after to two curb stomps, but Big Show is back and feeling grand after the slam on the steps? I guess the concussion protocol is serious.

This is a fascinating and brilliant notion but it strikes me as too clever and cool to actually happen, kind of like Kane being Daniel Bryan's mole in the Authority.
