The question that I can't get out of my head is this, the match was Falls Count Anywhere. They couldn't have put the stack of cinder blocks literally anywhere else in the arena?

Dean Ambrose is just great. He's been my #1 reason to watch post-Shield, and I don't see that changing once he returns from shooting his movie.

The network schilling seems to have been a little less painful this week, or perhaps I've adapted to blocking it out.

The end of the Paige/Natalya match is infuriating. Table-flipping maddening. I like the direction AJ is taking to get back at Paige though, but she needs a catchphrase for the audience to chant. Otherwise, they're gonna go straight to "C-M-Punk" as they did last night.

(You'd think "A-J" would be a natural chant. And now you can have "A-J's-Cra-Zy." But they need to endorse something and make it official. These women deserve a little better than to have the audience go to Punk immediately.)

I like Paul Heyman, and I liked seeing Brock egg him on to say his name again. But that promo might not have ended yet. He was clearly killing time. I worry that the absence of Daniel, Wade, and Ambrose combined with a champ working maybe one show a month means we're going to get 30 minutes of talking each RAW.

I loved Ziggler walking down the ramp and yelling "YOU DID THIS" to the fans, referring to his title shot and win. Good for him. Hopefully he can stay healthy for a while.

I wonder if the video game people had any heads up that the RAW presentation was changing tonight, two months before WWE 2K15 goes on sale.

Yup. That main event had me thinking LOL Roman Reigns in two different ways. Not to belabor this after every show, but I think last night in particular may go down as a pivotal show in the Bootista 2: Reigns of Error we've all been waiting to see adapted to television. Crowd flips out for Dean Ambrose in the main event while they shoot an angle for him to come back hotter than ever, an hour after spending Roman Reigns' match the night after his career-biggest victory cheering passionately for Ryback.

Orton randomly teaming with Rybaxel was strange and probably funny to only me.

I strongly encourage them to make this the new Legacy,
"bill"ing Ryback as the son of Goldberg a la Big Show and Andre.

I think people figured out the "Bryan to Lesnar to Reigns" direction as early as May. It was such a firm plan that they let Bryan keep the title while hurt and eventually had Cena finish up as his understudy just to keep everything in place. We're also two-thirds of the way through the plan for Reigns to beat Batista, Orton, and Triple H in succession on his way to Brock. But the nice thing about WWE making long-term plans, like launching the Authority angle last year to build to Batista's heroic return, is that the fans have had a chance to figure them out and decide they don't like them.

Not to fantasy book, but I feel like the best solution at this point is to feed Reigns to Lesnar, maybe at Survivor Series. Have him lose, regroup, and then challenge Lesnar at WM. It would show some vulnerability, perhaps get the crowd back on his side, and be a great hero's quest. Maybe throw a Shield reunion in there to help him regain his mojo.

That's the dumbest thing about the Roman Reigns push for me. Reigns is the one that they've taken as far away from The Shield as possible, yet is also the one who keeps the music and the basic look. During the WWE2K15 panel, he talked about how he and Dean Ambrose are still good buddies, yet that never translates every single time Ambrose gets beaten down.

If you want to get Reigns over, use Dean Ambrose as a means of developing a connection with the fans. Have Dean be the loose cannon who gets himself into trouble, and then have Reigns be the good friend who bails him out and has his back. It even ties into the Reigns vs Authority feud he's currently involved in.

Thinking forward, if Ambrose somehow comes into possession of Rollins' briefcase, then have Ambrose attempt to cash it in, but Brock utterly destroy him and then have Reigns come out to make the save to a massive face pop and staredown.

My guess is that WWE Creative is too segmented and that one writer has Rollins/Ambrose and another has Reigns/Orton and that they just never talk to each other because they're too busy trying to make sure they're the one who doesn't get fired.

I'm not sure about doing Lesnar-Reigns twice, because if it sucks the first time, no one is going to want to see it at WM31, but I do agree that Reigns needs to stumble a bit and face more adversity.

That's why I think that, when they eventually do HHH vs Reigns, that Reigns should lose that one. It'll keep HHH credible as a wrestler (he's lost every match for the last year) and it'll give Reigns a reason to fight even harder to win the Rumble and climb the ladder. I don't think it has to be clean, but it has to be a setback for Reigns in some way.

HHH is at Rock or Taker level at this point, where W/L record is basically irrelevant to his position.

I was going to say you feed him to Lesnar at SS just as a placeholder until they can build more faces, but at this point, does Lesnar really need any more cred? I feel like it would be just as effective for him to squash midcarders (starting with RVD, ending is some handicap match or something at SS - actually, that'd be great. Just toss 10 midcarders at Brock one by one and be like "it's called SURVIVORS SERIES! Let's see how many of you can survive THE BEAST INCARNATE") for a while, or maybe do a placeholder feud vs. Big Show. The other option is to call in a legends contract for a placeholder feud (Rock? Goldberg? Angle?)

But everything is still placeholder in this scenario. The only other option is to somehow get Brock to sign a full-time contract.

Of course, there is always my dream fantasy booking, which is that Punk leaving is a total work just to get him some time off, and he's set to come back, beat Lesnar, and be champ for another 2 years.

Brock doesn't seem to equal ratings. Surprisingly low post Big Four Raw number.

Monday's post-SummerSlam edition of WWE RAW averaged 4.18 million viewers, down three percent from last week's show.

The hourly breakdown for the show is as follows:

Hour One: 4.28 million viewers
Hour Two: 4.33 million viewers
Hour Three: 3.97 million viewers

The final rating, which should be out shortly, will likely fall between a 2.9 or a 3.0.

I think it's more the fact that the last two weeks had pretty terrible RAWs, full of shilling for the Network, so they decided to skip the "9.99 show". That's how it happened for me, and surprisingly they turned out one of the best RAWs in months (apparently).

Lesnar/Cena 3 (4?) headlines Night of Champions. Zzzz, if only because they won't do that again. Few alternatives, as everyone has said, but Cena should really have his rematch clause revoked for his own personal safety.

Whoa, I didn't expect this. There are so many ways this can go. I'm a little worried they don't have the stones to stick with Brock the destroyer of everyone and everything. This could be totally awesome or an ultimate throw you hands in the air in another WTF are you guys thinking moment.

I always thought that was the rumor, since Brock was only going to do these two PPVs for the immediate future and then be gone until Survivor Series or Royal Rumble.

I think this match is even more intriguing than the SummerSlam one, because we knew Brock was working Night of Champions ahead of time, so it made sense for him to go over at SummerSlam if they expect him to draw for NOC.

Now, we're going to cross the threshold of whether or not we really wind up with a part time world champion and are going all the way with Brock, or if they're actually going to give Cena his 16th title win and cement him as "the greatest champion in the history of our sport."

Either way, and this is very early, I think a heel walks out the champ. Rollins still has that briefcase and no Ambrose to stop him if Cena wins.

Who is the face and who is the heel with AJ and Paige? I don't really get it. Neither one is playing to the crowd, yet neither is doing anything really bad either.

Does acting like a PG lesbian make Paige a heel?

Paige is the heel. She acted like she was AJ's friend, getting her first rematch for the title, only to lose and promptly snap the next show, attacking AJ unprovoked and beating her up. She then feigned innocence and said she's still AJ's friend, only to run away from face to face confrontations with her, instead attacking her from behind on one Smackdown episode, throwing her off the stage. Now she's regained the title (in a clean win, at least), making AJ even less stable than usual.

But even with AJ's growing instability, Paige is clearly the heel in this.

As much as I agree with the sentiment, I think the story of Cena doubting himself and Paul Heyman spending the next three weeks getting in his head (in lieu of Brock actually being there) is one that I'd be very interested in seeing. The buildup for this one should be good.

If nothing else, I'd prefer that the Cena rematch be postponed a couple months to put some space between the big matches. It's easy enough to do - Cena got destroyed, so have him say he needs to train harder to overcome the Beast, and push the match out.

Given that this was almost surely the direction, I'm kind of glad D-Bry got hurt. What was thrilling to watch happen to Cena would have been nauseating to watch Bryan go through. Cena's ten year run of winning ninety-five percent of his (major) matches, and being super protected in the losses (Rock, Bryan, and Lesnar are the only truly clean jobs I can really think of), made Brock's beatdown all the more effective. If he'd done it to Bryan it just would have been more shitty booking.

RAW was an unworthy follow up to Summerslam. I co-sign what others have said about Ambrose and Reigns. I don't think Roman deserves the Boo-Tista treatment, but you can already feel it coming. With a lack of challengers to Brock, if I were WWE I'd sign Bubba Ray Dudley who is apparently avaialable, have him bull-rush Brock with varied sneak attacks, only to be convincingly crushed at the PPV. If nothing else it would give us duelling Bubba/Heyman promos, which could not possibly suck.

From what I've read it does seem like NoC is indeed going to be Brock/Cena 3. I don't think it would make any sense for Brock the Mighty to fall to the guy he just obliterated the month prior, but this is Cena we're talking about, after all. Guys like HHH and Cena add a definite level of uncertainty even to smarks like us, because even when a guy should, logically, be going over, their opponent is so protected and has so much backstage clout that we're never sure if they're going to pull some strings to make a nonsensical finish to protect their own heat.

In storylines, Cena is a awesome fighter, never gives up, all that. They play it as Cena looked past Brock since he had already beat him, took him lightly, and goes into training, ala so many of those "So n So" is getting ready for his match with "such n such". Maybe they bring in some known asskicker to help him train - Chick Liddell's not doing much, for example, or Shamrock or Couture.

A month doesn't really seem long enough to work that angle. Maybe they feed Cena to him again, maybe even worse, then he goes with the training thing.

There, there's MY fantasy booking. Sorry Zed.
