The Recap for WWE Raw 3.24.2014, live from Brooklyn, NY.

We open with a lengthy recap of last week, and Stephanie McMahon opens the show proper to a chorus of boos. Daniel Bryan won't be here tonight - but Triple H and Stephanie did what they did to send a message to the superstars backstage that insubordination will not be tolerated. She won't stand for false leaders, because false leaders will lead all of us down a path of destruction. She talks about living up to the burden of making decisions for all of us, because all of us need to be led. She reminds everyone exactly who Triple H is and promises that he will walk out champion after WrestleMania. Randy Orton is out to address this, because he doesn't want to beat Triple H into a pulp at WrestleMania, which he will ultimately have to do if Trips makes it to the title match. Orton wants Steph to have Triple H back out of the title match, but now Batista has something to say. The crowd chants "CM Punk," "Daniel Bryan," and "Boring" through parts of this but neither Stephanie nor Orton slip up. Batista thinks that they're all missing the big picture - Dave is going to be the next world champion. Deal with it! His microphone keeps dying, so Steph has to help him out. He respects Hunter very much, but he's never beaten him and WM will be no different. Orton on the other hand makes him SICK! "Lean in a little closer and just drool over her a little more!" He hates to break Orton's heart, but Steph's been drooled on before, and been drooled on quite a bit. Well. She slaps the glasses off his face, and Orton finds this incredibly funny, going as far as pointing and laughing. That ends with a predictable spear. Batista is more amused than anything. 0 for 1.

Match 1: Fatal Four Way: Christian v Alberto Del Rio v Dolph Ziggler v Sheamus
Everyone's in the ARMBAR, of course. The winner here will become #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship. Big E watches from the commentary desk. This thing is a bitch to recap. They follow a format where two guys fight outside while two guys are in the ring. Christian takes a sick fallaway slam into the guardrail. Del Rio misses his enzuigiri on Sheamus and Dolph dropkicks him for 2. Eventually everyone makes it to the outside, and wind up being laid out all around ringside as we go to a break. Back from the break with Dolph and ADR in the ring, with Dolph unleashing some furious offense until ADR dumps him on his face. Sheamus pulls him outside for White Noise and Christian sends HIM into the post. Christian gets Dolph with a flying crossbody but he rolls through for 2! Christian slaps the taste out of his face and dumps him outside but Sheamus is back up to kick his ass. Del Rio runs right into the Irish Curse and gets hit with the Beats of the Bodhran. Sheamus heads to the top but Ziggler brings him down with a super X-Factor for 2! He takes care of Christian and drops ADR with a HUGE DDT for 2! So close! Powerbomb for Ziggler! Superkick for Christian! Sheamus traps ADR in the cloverleaf but Christian breaks that up. Sheamus sets up the Brogue but ADR interrupts and traps him in the Cross Armbreaker. Sheamus lifts him up but Ziggler sneaks behind him for the ZigZag! Christian with the Unprettier on Dolph and THAT is your finish in 12 minutes. What a furious finishing sequence! 1 for 2. Big E joins him in the ring afterwards to offer best wishes, and Christian, ever the sport, laughs him off. That title match is tomorrow on Main Event.

Bray Wyatt wants to know what John Cena can do to someone who just can't feel. They can hear him whispering and they're coming to find him. Run!

Sin Cara and Scooby Doo are now out. What an odd combination. Scooby Doo has some music other than "Scooby Dooby Do, where are you / we've got some work to do now..." which is plain wrong.

Match 2: Sin Cara v Damien Sandow
This match is in Sin Cara Lighting. Oh man, who did Sandow piss off? Sin Cara puts him down and finishes with a swanton in one minute. Yeah, okay.1 for 3.

Match 3: Los Matadores v Curtis Axel and Ryback
Rybaxel now have a tag title shot at the Usos at WrestleMania as a result of their helping Kane beat down the Shield on Smackdown. Sure enough, the Shield show up now, distracting Axel long enough to get rolled up in one minute. Two one-minute matches in a row? 1 for 4. They dispose of Axel, and it's a spear and the triple powerbomb for Ryback. Oh joy, the Triple H sit-down interview is next.

Triple H has a smug smile as we do a video recap. Cole wants Hunter to justify his actions last week, but he essentially says Daniel Bryan and the Yes Movement have left him with no choice. He calls #OccupyRaw a "coup," and calls out Cole for his hypocrisy in judging Triple H's actions. Cole says Hunter's actions are unbecoming of a COO, but Trips wants to clear some confusion. Daniel Bryan and the crowd asked for The Game, and they got The Game. Triple H wants to know what happened to the people since he stopped competing - people used to want to fight, but now they just want to cry when they don't get what they want. Triple H wants to start the Reality Era - at WrestleMania, Triple H will end the pathetic Yes Movement and become World Champion. He has the power to do it and everyone knows it. He had a nice thing going with the Reality Era theme, but then he flooped badly on the punchline and it all became generic. This is just a dressed-up version of your standard 20-Minute Triple H Promo. 1 for 5.

Match 4: Fandango v Cody Rhodes
Cody gets a quick 2-count as the crowd starts up a small "Goldust" chant. Fandango quickly takes over with a springboard legdrop for 2, but runs into a clothesline. Cody hit his own springboard dropkick but they have a collision and both are out. Goldust takes this opportunity to have a danceoff with Summer Rae, but she falls and hurts herself. That distracts Fandango just long enough to get hit with the Disaster Kick (which is such a banal name, "Beautiful Disaster" was MUCH better) and pinned in 3 minutes. 1 for 6.

Hulk Hogan is out to talk about WrestleMania, when he and Mr. T made history 30 years ago in this very city. He introduces Arnold and Joe Manganiello, but not before murdering Manganiello's name. #AdeleDazeem! Okay, it wasn't that bad. Arnold talks about inducting Bruno Sammartino into the Hall of Fame, and hands it off to Manganiello, who proves himself quite a good promo. Nice energy and mannerisms from Joe there. Arnold and Joe want to enter the ARMBAR, but Miz interrupts this looking quite dapper today. Really? Miz wants to talk movies with Arnold. Miz wants to distinguish between actors and real tough guys - this is no act; he will win the ARMBAR. Miz tells all three of them that they don't belong here, but Manganiello wants Miz to try him. Miz tries a cheapshot but that doesn't go well for him and Hogan unceremoniously dumps him to end this. 1 for 7. It is what it is.

Match 5: Titus O'Neil v The Big Show
Show dominates him to start but Titus takes his legs out from underneath him and lays in the boots. Legdrop gets 2, and Titus hammers away in the corner. Shoulderblock gets 2 as the crowd loses interest and starts chanting for CM Punk instead. Titus has him teetering on the ropes, but takes a little too long and gets speared for his troubles. WMD finishes in 2 minutes. 1 for 8.

The Shield want to know where Triple H stands on the issue that they have with Kane and the Authority, but Triple H washes his hands off the whole thing. Stephanie offers them the Real Americans tonight.

Match 6: John Cena v Luke Harper
Cena has a new shirt, black, green, and pink with text on it. Harper just stares at him to start and controls in the corner. Big right hand and backbreaker gets 2 for Harper and a HUGE "let's go Harper" chant breaks out. Cena fights back in the corner and gets booed out of the building. Harper puts an end to that and nails a big pumphandle suplex. He works over Cena on the outside and they head back in as we go to a break. Back from the break, and Harper has Cena in a chinlock but Cena fight out. Atomic drop and the big boot sniff out that comeback to the delight of the crowd. He misses a big forearm and John Cena nails him with a German suplex! He wants the AA, but Harper slides out and superkicks his head off! Harper wants the Discuss Clothesline, but runs into the blue thunder instead. Harper avoids the Five Knuckle Shuffle and hits a sitout slam for 2. Cena escapes a powerbomb with the Cenacarana but Harper dumps him outside. AIR HARPER! OMG yes! Back inside, and Cena suddenly traps him in the STF, but Harper escapes. DDT gets 2 for Harper and he sets up Cena on the turnbuckle for a butterfly superplex but Cena powers out. They have a slugfest up there, and Harper loses that, resulting in the Sicilian Slice for 2. Cena gets the Five Knuckle Shuffle but Harper stops the AA by faceplanting him HARD. Harper sets up for something but Cena fucking RUNS HIM OVER with a MANLY clothesline! He has Harper in the AA but the lights go out. Let's call that a Sportz Entertainment Finish at 14 minutes. When the lights are back on, the Wyatts have Cena trapped in the ropes with a sheep mask on him. The crowd thinks this is awesome and I can't argue. These guys have crazy chemistry. 2 for 9.

Match 7: Non-Title: AJ Lee v Naomi
Naomi's eyepatch seems to have gotten bigger. AJ obviously mocks her to start like any good heel would do, but it gets her dropkicked. She quickly escapes the butt-butt and heads outside for a breather. Then she decides she doesn't want to deal with Naomi at all and takes a walk to get counted out in 1 minute. AJ mouthing the words "Still Divas Champion" with the ring announcer is a hidden highlight for me. Now Vicki Guerrero comes out to respond to comments AJ made over SmackDown, calling Vicki a grandma. Vicki calls her a bitch and puts her into the Vicki Guerrero Divas Invitational (ViGuDIn? I can't come up with any meaningful acronym for that) against the entire Divas roster at Wrestlemania. So there's your bathroom break match at WrestleMania. Tamina even sneaks in a furtive smile. 2 for 10.

Razor Ramon is the next inductee in the Hall of Fame.

Match 8: The Shield (Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose) v The Real Americans
The Shield attack during the Real Americans' entrance and beat them up on the ramp. Back inside, it's Ambrose and Cesaro starting, and Ambrose hammers away in the corner. King becomes the first person tonight to pronounce Joe Manganiello's name right tonight. Rollins comes in with an assisted neckbreaker and rolling verticals on Swagger. Ambrose gets 2 off that and controls Swagger with a dropkick in the ropes. They hits a double-team hesitation dropkick of sorts and Rollins wails on Swagger in the corner. Ambrose locks up Swagger but stops to go after Cesaro, allowing Swagger to slam him down and bring in Cesaro. He kicks Ambrose's ass with some grumpy uppercuts as the crowd breaks into a "we the people" chant. Belly-to-belly gets 2 on Ambrose and the Americans hit him with the We The People leapfrog. Swagger comes in for the Swagger Bomb but Ambrose puts his feet up. Cesaro stops a hot tag by wiping Rollins out and it's time for Ambrose to take a swing! Rollins stops the cover, but Ambrose gets tossed outside anyway. The Real Americans swing him right into the barricade! We The People! Head to a break!

We come back with Cesaro in control of Ambrose but he grabs Cesaro in a backslide for 2. Cesaro takes offense to "Let's Go Shield" chants and slaps Ambrose especially hard, but that just turns him on! Clothesline takes him out and it's hot tag Rollins! Corner STO gets 2 on Swagger and he monkey flips Cesaro over the top rope. Clothesline for Swagger! Dive onto Cesaro! Rollins on fire! Cesaro breaks up the pin after the springboard knee to the head but Ambrose attacks him. Rollins dumps him but lands in the ankle lock. He reaches the ropes, kicks Swagger in the face, and the curbstomp (now named "Peace of Mind") finishes at 15 minutes. 3 for 11. It is difficult to go wrong with that much talent. Postmatch, Reigns saves Rollins from a Cesaro beatdown with the Superman Punch, and they wind up putting Cesaro through the announce table. That prompts an appearance by Kane and Corporate New Age Outlaws to announce a six-man tag at WrestleMania.

Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar (with new shirt: EAT SLEEP BREAK THE STREAK) join us to tell us that when Brock beats Taker at WrestleMania, the streak will have been a staggering achievement. WrestleMania is where on era will end and another will begin. Didn't they say the same thing for WM 28? Brock interrupts Heyman's spiel because he's not here to promote, he's here to fight. He knows Undertaker is here, and he wants to do this right now. In response, the Druids bring out a casket, which... is empty. Brock rants at the Druids as they back away up the ramp. Brock wants to leave while Heyman rants about how Undertaker is running away from a fight, and now that casket opens with Taker in it. He lays a beating on Brock, dumping him over the ropes and onto the casket, and we end the show with the two of them pointing at the Wrestlemania XXX sign. 3 for 12.

Wrestling Counter: 49 minutes.

This show is three good matches encased in two hours and fifteen minutes of horseshit. Find the matches, skip the rest.

That's irritating...49 minutes of actual in-ring action for a 3 hour show? You'd think there would be at least half and half.

Hopefully this is the start of more Luke Harper doing meaningful things.

It also goes to show that when Cena plays ball it helps everyone. Not a Pro Cena crowd at all. Not only was Harper largely cheered, Cena got the dreaded no reaction on his comebacks.

Can't say I am thrilled with The Shield's opponents for WM, but I am guessing this goes No DQ, which should help.

Edit: Are we saving a Scott Hall induction for down the road? That's fine, but then you have to induct Nash as Diesel, which kind of sucks

Scott Hall absented himself from Shawn Michaels' Hall of Fame ceremony for fear his sobriety would be unduly challenged.

Now he and Jake are getting inducted on the same night. Dear Lord, help them not to fall off the wagon. In all sincerity.

It's no Seth From Above but Rollins' finisher getting named was an historic moment. The DeanDT is still on the table and perhaps we are going to need to take solicitations on his drunk Thesz press.

Maybe they have a big angle planned for next week, but this is the second straight year that the TV for the Undertaker match is underwhelming. I'm sure they'll still have a great match, but the previous four years it was not just the best match on the show but the best built match. Considering you've had talkers as good as CM Punk and Paul Heyman involved, that's whack.

I'll never object to someone actually selling a heinous injury angle for more than a week, but it's a shame the timing kept Bryan off of this show. Not only would he have gotten a mad star reaction, but Brooklyn was the crowd who got him the SummerSlam main event and kicked off this whole adventure. With Batista/Orton booked for next week, I hope he returns to do something like this as the last scene on Raw before WM:

Ah, see, only douchebags use the phrase "reality era." Hunter's not so subtle implication that he will book himself to win everything was terrific. He's no Stephanie, however. She's on fire, improvising out there like the dang Rock.

Bray Wyatt beating Cena at Wrestlemania would be pretty huge. Cena has lost on three straight PPVs and his very legacy is at stake, so don't weep too hysterically if he doesn't. Whatever the case, this has definitely all been way better than John Cena's Scott Hall at WM18.

Babyface Shield are the coolest dudes. The Corporate Ministry is surely the weakest opponents they've ever had on PPV, but it's worth it to fit in this face run. Hopefully just like John Cena last year, they too will defeat the Attitude Era and prove the superiority of modern times.

Rollins doing Believe In The Shield to "We The People" and then launching into that whirlwind of offense should forever silence the idea that he's going to be odd man out in a Shield split. He might be the best worker in U.S. America right now.

I think Ziggler's MITB cash-in has made him an honorary New Yorker. With the Bryan mission almost complete, crowds should make themselves useful with a new insistence project by making every Punk chant a Ziggler chant.

Doing an Usos/Americans/Rybaxel threeway without the Rhodes doesn't make no sense for a few reasons.

So if Razor Ramon is in the Hall of Fame and Scott Hall isn't, that means that all of the New Razor Ramon's work is being inducted.

Rosa Mendes is going to Wrestlemania!

I thought it was a little odd myself that they focused entirely on Hall's run as Razor Ramon, not even mentioning him wrestling in WCW (which was easily more influential on the business than his years as Ramon). Hell, they didn't even drop his real name. I found it a bit odd since Vince owns the rights to everything WCW now, it's not like he's hurting anyone by at least admitting Hall's WCW years.

Before this specific announcement, there were people talking about the nWo as a group being inducted somewhere down the line if all goes okay. Maybe that's the plan and they're saving 'Scott Hall' to be part of that.

Kevin Nash, as clever as ever, holds himself out of a HOF induction for a year when he can be the headliner and get the most attention.

I agree that 'Scott Hall' will be inducted in the future as part of the NWO, so that'll be a double inductions for Hogan, Hall and (surely) Nash. I presume the NWO will just be considered to be those three guys in order to keep it from being a 45-person ceremony --- though it would be hilarious if *that* was how they snuck Savage into the Hall.

Thankfully Bourbon Street is a much longer walk from the Superdome than the NFL would like you to think. But not an impossible one. I've made it a few times.

Watching Harper makes me pine for one more high-profile Shield-Wyatts match.

What little wrestling there was, was good, but overall a pretty unmemorable show, and below par for NYC.

But hey, Batista split his dumb tight jeans wide open when he speared Orton, which makes the night a win. Stupid jeans.

Doing an Usos/Americans/Rybaxel threeway without the Rhodes doesn't make no sense for a few reasons.

Can someone please explain what the hell is going on with the tag title match? You're telling me they just had to take Rybaxel out of the ARMBAR and put them in the title match? And if it's a triple threat with the RA's, then just announce it already. Usos/Rybaxel straight up is like Quebecers/MOM bad.

That first segment was a slow death. That last segment was a slower death. In between, we had some good action.

Taker really needs someone to speak for him. Not necessarily a replacement for Paul Bearer, but someone who can help Heyman carry this. Michaels would be a nice nod to history, and he can work the mic opposite Heyman. We could have avoided the protracted casket shenanigans.

The four-way was great fun. The Shield stuff was great fun.

Sandow and Titus deserve better. At last get beat by people in featured Mania matches.

He's definitely a lot more than that, and I think that's why he can afford to lose this one. This program is showing that he can hang with the guy who was wrestling The Rock in the main event just a year prior and I think he's already benefiting. Win or lose.

A win would be tremendous for him, but after beating Bryan clean and the super-protected Roman Reigns on PPV this year, I don't see a win over Cena at WrestleMania happening. That said, it would be cool if Cena did something underhanded to win, like they got to him somehow and he wins the match but loses a little bit of his soul.

But, if Bray wins, I certainly won't complain. Still, I think this one is for the kids.

Congratulations, Rick "Razor Ramon" Bognar on your WWE Hall of Fame induction!

Can't wait to see what was supposed to be the WrestleMania XXX main event on TV next week. I don't know who should win this match, assuming it isn't a schmozz, because either one losing would mean that he wins at WrestleMania by WWE Creative Rules.

I'm predicting a screwjob ending with neither one going over clean. They don't want to tip their hand as to who's going to go over who.

Bryan shows up despite HHH/Steph saying earlier on that he's not cleared.

I am sooo enjoying the Shield as faces.
Seth being a house on fire and flying around is so much fun.
Ambrose's pendulum lariat is great too.
Right now, Roman Reigns is my least favorite Shield guy.

The Harper/Cena match & angle was great, and I am actually looking forward to the Bray/Cena match at WM.

Yes, the wrestling was minimal on this show but I do think they made up for that by building things up nicely for WM.

The Wyatts still amaze me in that they managed to turn themselves faces without changing a bit of their gimmick (which is essentially the wrestling Manson Family). It helps that they're up against Cena, the company's least-loved "face". I heard a lot of Harper chants during his brawl with Cena. I guess it shouldn't surprise me because it seems like all three are channeling Mankind-era Mic Foley in their craziness, so they have that same manic charisma.

Speaking of ... do you think the WWE should make Cena a heel, simply because the fans love to boo him? Or is he good with his current "Aw shucks, cheer or boo for me if you want, I'm just glad to be here" schtick?
