Tough Enough returns as a weekly segment on SmackDown!
Off the top of my head, the only people to have any successful exposure after TE are the women. Maven had injuries and a family death, yes, but he wrestled right before Bad Blood. He's not been used well. Nowinski, the guy who didn't win, had a better presence until he broke his head. Ms. Jackie and Nidia are active while Shaniqua did such a great job getting her team over that she was demoted off TV. I don't see any reason for prospective male TE contestants to expect anything more than the camera exposure during the contest and a job for one year.

There's JBL's role. Good, keep him out of the ring. Maybe this is what they want Billy Graham to do on RAW.

This was really sad to me when I found out he will probably never wrestle again. He had so much potential.
It was strange b/c I saw him walking around the BU campus (where he was taking classes) and he looked great. I stopped and talked to him for a few minutes and he comes off like the complete opposite of what he does on TV. He seems like a real down to earth nice guy, which is everything that he didn't on TV. It's sad to see a guy like that get such a raw deal.
In lieu of TE, I wish they would put together some sort of contest for Indie wrestlers instead. Most of those guys have worked years and years, and to be honest, you could plug them in right away and let them go. I think it makes for a better "rags to riches" story if you ask me.

I take it that means "other than Canada". Should be interesting.

Bleh. Hey, let's improve SD by.....showing less of the show? That's not going to do it. Don't like this at all, and I'm sure many in the lockerroom won't like it either.
Originally posted by ObserverThe "Tough Enough" show would become a weekly segment within Smackdown, thus cutting back on the wrestling portion of the show, leading to a final episode where wrestlers would get WWE contracts.
Whoopee. How is this going to improve the show? If people cared about TE, the show would still be running on MTV. I highly doubt this is going to do anything for ratings, and they'd be better served scouting the indies for talent rather than scooping up wannabe's off the street. IMO, they should be experimenting with *more* wrestling on the show, since SD's best ratings came during the wrestling-heavy "SD6" era.

Duh, I'm a moron.

What the hell's the point?
They're really pushing SmackDown! Your Vote and considering all the silly things they do waste time on, this digression is at least benefiting society. I know it's not completely altruistic but they're doing a Good Thing Not Just For Themselves and you've got to like that in the wrestling business.
There should be some high comedy involved, so I think it'll be funny. They've pushing it as non-partisan enough (Meltzer's disagreement aside) that I wonder if they'll use political parties. Or maybe they'll make up their own: something like Heels and Faces, I can only hope.
This President thing has me intrigued. I wonder if the GM role will stay intact or become a "VP" type role.
Chris Nowinski should be given an on camera role. The guy has great potential on the mic and would be a waste not to use him in an on-camera authority figure role.
I wonder if these "elections" will be another rigged WWE.com poll.

If they're talking about voting and pushing the idea that people should vote, and they're finding a better way to tie in the SmackDown! Your Vote stuff than random photo ops for Victoria and Hillary Clinton and registrations numbers which increase ludicirously by television show, MAYBE some people watching will actually vote.
I mean, it's a (very slightly) grown up way of schools doing student council or mock elections; the point isn't really that anyone cares who wins, it's to get them interested in the process. Same goal here.
I don't really see this as a battle of "WWE Elections!" vs "20 Minute Jamie Noble Matches! or whatever you'd like instead!" because they're always going to be doing a certian amount of Crap Which Is Not Actually Wrestling, and I'm pleased it's actually useful crap and possibly amusing crap rather than something like...Tough Enough On SmackDown (omg swerve)
I'm still skeptical that it will work. I don't think this is going to make anyone stand up and say "dang, I should get out & vote" any more than the "Smackdown Your Vote" segments. If you're going to vote, you're going to vote, and nothing on a wrestling program is really going to sway someone one way or the other (IMO). All it's going to do is raise the amount of CWINAW, and on SD, where ratings & PPV buys and interest are sinking, I don't think it's such a wise idea.

Welcome back, Steph. You were not missed.
Aw, shit. I can see it now. Michael Cole and Tazz reading off Vince's scripted lines about how "Stephanie will go donw in history as the first Female President ever elected in the U.S. Yet another thing the McMahon family can brag about for the rest of EVERYONE'S LIVES!" Well, maybe the quote won't be *quite* like that.
And then J.R. and The King will say the same thing, as we all know she'll 'win' the RAW election as well.

You're not a moron, apparently they will be taping a Raw and Smackdown in the UK.
Originally posted by MeltzerAmong the key plans for the next year include taping television events outside of North America. In October, Raw and Smackdown will tour the U.K. simultaneously, and each group will have a television taping during that week. Plans are to do that quarterly, alternating between Europe and the Pacific Rim (Japan, South Korea, Australia and other countries) for one week of shows and tapings of each show. Overall plans are to do 41 house shows outside North America over the next year
I look forward to Tough Enough and a Presidential Election on SD. It'll mean more creative writing in DEAN's Workrate Report (if they don't care about the show going into the toilet, why should we).
Are we allowed to use the voices in our heads as sources?
Well, crowd reaction is always better in other countries- so that should liven things up a little.
Then again- there's those stupid Tough Enough and President ideas...
Tough Enough will take away a lot of precious time that Im guessing they dont want to "waste" with their "good" writing (blast it, when will we see sweeping changes for the better!)
as for the President idea... you see people, the difference between the Prez and the GM is that the Prez can tell the GM what to do! Wow, the WWE just keeps whipping out the good ideas from the old brain there, eh? It makes me happy enough to stop watching Smackdown and just catch the recaps on Velocity once and for all! Maybe the president will be the new writer the WWE is trying to attain to improve the show- if so, I hope this is longterm and the writer is good!
Eric: "Now to unveil my finishing move; the Bischoff lock!" Vince: "Let go of me you idiot!"
The president will be Vince's role I guess. So expect Bisschoff and Heyman to run for it, and be squashed by Mr. McMahon! It doesn't sound like a very interesting idea, but it could be fun fluff material if played right.
As for TE on Smackdown..*shrug* why not..better than Diva search
And Raw/SD from different countries sound fun. They're overseas enough as it is right now, this will make the trip lighter on the performers since they dont have th be back by the end of the weekend. Plus it gives something special to the countries and so what for a little spoilers! They can tape it monday/thursday evening (in the UK cases at least) and then have half a day for editing if they want to reveal as little as possible.
Why would they bother electing Vince? I think VKM must want to leave TV altogether for a while somehow, so this guy/gal will be his replacement as the 'Senior Authority Figure' that both GMs have to answer to.
There has been nuild up through the Interent that Rhyno was coming so they had a chance to get ready for him. However, I agree with you as I did not think Rhyno would generate this type of positive reaction.
