Directs you to the WWE main page. Could bolster the rumor that ECW is returning, or it could be WWE's way of cashing in on the hubbub by directing new traffic to their site.
Either way...interesting.

I got that message when I tried to look up who owned it. Apparenlty you very valid and interesting point. Now, why would they buy something like this if they don't have something in store for a possible ECW? Or as you said there just trying some way to get traffic.

They registered it on January 28, 2003, and it expires in 2006. The records for domains like WWE.com and WCW.com indicate pretty clearly WWE owns them. It's easy for anyone to point a domain name at another.

See the thing about the domain names is this, when wwe bought WCW they got all the sites. www.WCWPRIDE.com www.WCWGREED.com etc, etc. They didn't ever buy the ecw sites. Most of those either went to www.UGO.com or 1bob.com
I think we could be seeing something very extreme very soon...

But there's no evidence that WWE owns or is in anyway involved with this newecw.com domain. I can point my website to wwe.com, too, but that doesn't mean WWE bought it. If they were going to buy a domain name from someone else, why not buy the real ecw.com, or even ecwwrestling.com (which is owned by Joey Styles).
