I'm a fool that should read No Mercy not No Way Out.
Can't figure out how to eit title.WHAT WORKED:
TKG: Seemed weird to me to have Animal work face in peril but damn I really dug him in the opening match. Nitro really good at eating clotheslines. I don't remember Joey Mathews having those kicks before. Heidenreich is wearing Papa Shango's face paint in tribute to the lost New Orleans. They kept the women out of this for the most part and when they finally let them in the mixed tag Doomsday Device was a fun finish.
PAS: MNM and LOD have worked each other 163 times, and they have built a really nice standard match. Christy's rana was pretty fugly, but the clothesline was fine. For a guy who never sold anything in his whole career, Animal is really great at selling.
TKG: I would have never believed that they could find LOD a more coked out valet than Sunny. But I swear, Christy's eyes were bugged out so big she began to remind me of Rocco.
TKG: Four way was fun. Christian bumped around like king. Benoit was booked to look really strong in this as large opening section built like handicap match. Really fun X division match with big guys.
PAS: This was a total blast. I especially loved the double fall off the top rope, and Benoit tossing OJ into a tope. This really was a total spotfest, which was amusing to see with such big dudes. OJ really is the worlds greatest Sonny Siaki
TKG: This probably belongs on the bottom half of this. As it fell apart and was really messy. Ok I've shat alot on Ken Kennedy's basic skills and here in the early parts he looked fine. Nice punch, his shoulders too weakened arm looked good and his headbutt to transition was nice too. His arm lock would make even Randy Orton giggle but he looked better in early parts than he has in awhile. Then it fell apart and he started blowing stuff. But honestly once it fell apart and you could tell Bob Holly was just pissed at putting over this tool it became so bad it was entertaining.
PAS: It does belong on the lower half
TKG: Most of the backstage stuff was shit. Dug Rey's Spanish mic work and kind of dug the Sharmell and Booker T reenact "Baby Boy" back stage scene. Booker T is really ugly to be playing Tyreese. But Sharmell was fun in her role. Turning Booker is a mistake as at this point he looses more and more fan response as he gets turned back and forth like Luger.
TKG: JBL vs. Rey was really good. Really liked Bradshaw's Greg Mathews blowing up sell. I don't know about jobbing all the top Mexican-American stars in Texas but this was still really good match.
PAS: This was the match of the night and JBL best non Eddie match ever. JBL really feels like a guy who would have an awesome run as a top heel in 1980's EMLL as he can really work well with luchadores working classic lucha. JBL v. El Dandy or Sangre Chicana would be fucking awesome. Rey was so great in this, as he is just worlds above where he was in the mid 90's. The timing in this was great, as they were doing some really complicated sequences that were timed great. This match really need to be run during JBL's title run. Spot for spot this worked as a main event for a belt would be a match of the year.
TKG: I don't know about that. Schneider puts on more and more weight and turns more into Dean every day. This was really good but your over pimping it. Main event was match of the night.
TKG: Shocked and surprised as I dug the Undertaker vs. Ortons' match. Ace cowboy Bob Orton has a bunch of amusing comedy oversell bumps that he can still pull off in his old age. The double superplex was poorly executed and really all Undertaker but still a spot that got me to pop big. I normally don't like Randy Orton's goofy facial sells but they work well for a low blow.
PAS: Yeah this was a ton of fun. Really well put together in that Pat Patterson script way. Undertakers triangle choke was even stupider then trying to steal Mike Goldberg. Bob Orton had the best punches in the WWE.
TKG: Juventud Guerrera in the semi-main!!! I know its the heat killer but that was long for a heat killer. They should have let Juve do some pre-match mic work as the crowd was de-ad. Surprisingly given time. and giving Juve a belt means he's showing up in AJ tomorrow with it. Post match mic work was bad as Psicosis and Juve are normally really fun doing post match mic work but here it was all built around getting in each of there catchphrases. There is some writer backstage who told Juve that he should call himself "Jugo"?
PAS: I hope someone back stage is smart enough to grab that belt from Juvi when he went behind the curtain. It feels like internet Velocity is going to become my new favorite wrestling show.
TKG: Dug the main a bunch. Shocking PPV with no blood. Odd as fuck to see a face vs. face main event. The face vs. face structure with Eddie constantly questioning himself was cool. The Eddie dance returning was nice touch as he hasn't used that since turning heel. It really needed Eddie snapping post match after the loss and leaving Batista bleeding. But I don't think they want to book him as strong heel. I guess they are working a slow build to Eddie snapping but it should have been done quick tonight to heat this program up. The shirts the WWE made for this program were fucking beautiful, they are too good for a feud that isn't white hot. Back work was really nice and Eddie working veteran was sweet. Batista did nice job with the selling too.
PAS: I am really happy they didn't put any of the ignorant comedy stuff in the preview piece for this match. They should fire whatever Veronica's Closet writer though up the vignettes setting up this match. As I think this actually would have worked way better if Eddie's redemption wasn't treated like a joke. Eddie is really great as the conflicted addict trying to redeem his sins and failing. The smart move is have Eddie fail again in the rematch, but prove to everyone he is a changed man. Have him redeem himself in Rey's eyes, just to turn on him again and restart the only feud that actually draws any ratings. The actual work in this was beyond awesome, and Batista did a great job selling the lower back, as it wasn't comedy selling, but actually the way someone would react if they were trying to finish their roofing job with a slipped disc.
WHAT DIDN'T WORK:
PAS: I don't think the Holly match fell apart enough to put it in what worked. Holly didn't split Kennedy's lip. and Holly only broke his rib, not his neck. Close but no cigar. I did enjoy Holly contemptuously shrugging off Kennedy's dipshit spin kick.
TKG: Simon Dean vs. Lashley was bad bad bad. Putting in your new talent with Nova is a bad idea to start with. Nothing blown as badly as in the Kennedy match but Nova isn't as good as Holly and the blown stuff wasn't as funny.
TKG: Endless Lashley, Simon Dean backstage stuff. Lashley's voice is odd. And this went on and on and on.
Of that group (other than JR) I'd put my money on the APA. Bradshaw is due back from rehab any day now, and don't forget that Austin was working tag matches with Bradshaw right around the time he stormed out last year.
