A couple of points from my uneducated perspective:

My concerns over WrestleMania XXX being the first PPV to stream over the network are bandwidth and the quality of the streaming. Wouldn't you want to do a dry run with a different PPV first to work out any kinks?

So, you can't order prior to launch date. That's...likely to cause a headache on 2/24, no? And also likely to cause WWE to tout that overwhelming demand has crashed their servers.

Also,

"More than 1,500 hours of archived programming, that includes the WCW and ECW video libraries, will air uncut and uncensored, so references to the World Wrestling Federation, old logos, or matches involving former wrestler Chris Benoit or former announcer Jesse Ventura will no longer be scrubbed from history."

I'm curious how previously overdubbed music will treated. How are music royalties handled with a streaming service such as this.

Meltzer said it's likely music will be dubbed in the same manner it is for DVDs and such.

Regardless, after last night I want to subscribe twice. Cannot wait.

1. Take my money, Vince. Take it now. Why haven't you taken my money already?

2. Its encouraging to see that the MLB's streaming service are providing the streaming infrastructure behind this. I've always heard good reviews about their service. I would be a lot more hesitant if they were using the same infrastructure that the NBA uses for their Streaming.

3. The thought of never missing a PPV again is awesome. 120 bucks a year and never missing an event is great. Totally worth the 6 month commitment.

When they say uncut, does that mean the ECW stuff will have the 90s rock entrance music? Will it have ads for Extreme Wfare Volume 2? This is very important to me.

It will be interesting to see if on demand options for the stuff will be unlimited in the vault or will it just be shown during 'ECW Hour' or retro PPV Block? I would think a little of both, but not access to all at once.

Yep. Interface looked nice.

Everything will go into the on demand after it airs. It wasn't clear how quick they'll dole everything out but you can watch whenever you want once it's out. The on demand is not limited by time of day.

This is not confirmed, but there seems to be an overall sense that a portion of the archived content will be rotated in and out over the long term. WWE will have a lot of hours of content on this service, but Meltzer got a quote saying it's only 1.5% of their entire library at first. We may eventually get access to most everything WWE owns, but not any time soon and maybe over the very long term.

Well, they will be streaming content for a full month before WM. Granted, not with as many simultaneous viewers, but they should know full well how everything is working by the time WM rolls around.

They did also mention that the full home video library would be available on demand. That's HUGE.

If you don't have a Roku, they are pretty affordable and compare to the cost of an Xbox gold sub. Plus, they don't expire in a year.

Roku 1 (The W at Amazon)

Roku 1 - Canada (The W at Amazon.ca)

I bought CRZ a Roku2 for Christmas. I've got 2 myself. I love the thing. I watch MLB.tv and Netflix on it, mainly, although it supports Hulu and Amazon Prime streaming, and a ton of tiny little channels. Plus, it recently added A&E, History, and Lifetime channels for you cord cutters.

I'd rather pay $10 to get an HD quality PPV on the Roku (and/or Samsung Blu-ray player) than watch an illegal stream of questionable quality in real time and/or find an illegal copy out on the 'net on a few hours delay for free. I suppose the question becomes: is Comcast gonna be cool with this, or are they gonna mess up my ability to stream at probably a rather high rate of bandwidth? Since we currently have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and I think Kim just subscribed to Warner Archive, and all of them seem to stream just fine, I have high confidence this'll work too.

Everything that isn't the PPV is gravy.

Will Elimination Chamber be available less than 12 hours after it airs, then? Sounds like it should.

IT'S THE NIGHT KIMONA WANALAYA DANCED ATOP THE ECW ARENA

As uncut and uncensored as they're promising, you gotta believe there'll still be some annoying WWE Network bug in the lower left on eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeverything - just in case you forget what you're watching.

On Twitter, Otto "Hack-man" Heuer wondered aloud if we're finally getting a chance to see WWF Over the Edge 98 99 again. I'm guessing we won't, but let's see what EVERY PPV really means.

(Also, I guess I'm assuming they will edit out the 90 minutes of dead air during WWF In Your House: Beware of Dog)

I'm guessing we'll get the Beware of Dog 2 version, where the original main event aired second.

CRZ brings up a good point. I didn't think of them multimedia style devices (like Samsung and Sony Blu-ray). If those are included, I'll be even happier (I was planning on just watching stuff on my computer).

$60 for six months, essentially. I could pony up $60 for the entire Road to Wrestlemania (TLC, the Rumble, EC, Wrestlemania, Extreme Rules) and watch it all from the comfort of my Xbox 360? AND I'd get the entire back catalog? Holy cow, that's insane! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

Now you just HAD to go and find the downside to this, didn't you? Yes, let's consider that if they already have my money in December for Wrestlemania, they could essentially half-ass the entire buildup, because there's no way I could take back my purchase. I'm locked in either way, no matter how much Triple H, Randy Orton, and John Cena is shoved down my throat.

If you think you're seeing boring, lazy writing now, strap in. I get the feeling we haven't seen anything yet.

But the traditional PPV model isn't going away...yet. They still need to convince non-subscribers to drop $40-$65 on shows.

Side note: I wonder if this will lead to more WWE content in sports bars.

But I can jump on/off around six month blocks. I can be a Day 1 subscriber, get everything from WrestleMania through Night of Champions, then jump off until Royal Rumble or thereabouts. All of the good PPVs are in the first half of the year. If every WrestleMania is included, then for the PPV price of WrestleMania, I get WM and 5 other PPVs. That strategy goes out the window if not every WM is included.

The thing is I have plans to be somewhere else for Mania, so Mania being part of the package is not that big of an incentive for me. I am sure it will be for everyone else. They have a year plus to put this together, I doubt it coming out a month early would have killed them or maybe it could like Healthcare.gov, who knows. Its just disappointing. I love the Rumble and there is no legal way for me to see it this year.

If it were me, I would have test driven this thing for the Elimination Chamber than Mania for the high volume. I am going to wait and see what storylines come out of Mania. So, Raw and Smackdown are going to be delayed 24 hours like they do for Hulu then?

Anyone who has internet access can legally purchase PPVs from WWE.com.

A story in the LA Times says DirecTV is considering dropping all WWE PPVs if the network goes ahead as planned. inDemand would have the same option. DirecTV is framing it as WWE buyrates going down and it not being worth their time, but current PPV contracts prevent promotions from undercutting the price of their content on the internet and they don't want to set a precedent there.

I don't think Swinger will ever be a top level guy. Hell, he wasn't that in ECW or TNA, so to suggest he'll make it that high in WWE would be unreasonable.
