Likewise.

WWE made a bonehead move pairing with Rogers. I remember when the WWF/WWE Classics on Demand service was available: it was on Rogers, and maybe Cogeco, no other cable companies - so half the country was screwed. I have Shaw out here in Western Canada, and we never got it.

I have a sinking feeling the same will happen again.

This is the important part for me (and apparently you too). I contacted my cable company and heard back from them today that they still haven't heard anything about acquiring the Network, so I guess I remain in limbo for now.

As for Cubs' question, I don't know how much a VPN service would cost, but just strictly for the Network with the exchange rate, the American one would wind up costing us around $11 Canadian. So that in itself would be cheaper than the Rogers version. If my cable company is left out in the cold by Rogers in the end, I might have to look into finding out how I can get the service from the US, because there's no way I'm going to be switching to Rogers cable.

Unblockus is $4.99 per month, and the Network is roughly $11 per month (according to my credit card statement) - so I'm happy to pay the $16 fee to get all the wrestling I could possibly consume. Considering the added bonus of getting the American Netflix, and HuluPlus for streaming related purposes, I found it to be a solid investment.

I'll keep an eye on Unblockus, then. Not going to rush into things, I'll wait and see what the exact word is come Tuesday when the Network 'launches' in Canada. If I can get it through my local cable provider, great, but if Rogers expects me to switch to them, then I'll have little choice but to give WWE my money directly.

I take it you live in their territory, eh? Its unfortunate that cable companies don't offer direct competition to each other, unlike satellite services and others like fibre optic options such as Telus TV.

I looked it up, and apparently Rogers actually doesn't offer TV in my province anyway, even if I wanted it. I just assumed that they did. I assumed poorly!

That makes even less sense, then, for them not to offer it to the local cable companies. So hopefully once this upcoming week rolls around there'll be good news for me.

Been doing the same thing here in Manitoba since the Network was out, and I couldn't be happier with Unblockus.

My cable company has no plans to pick up WWE Network, so it's time to delve into this Unblockus thing and see how it works. Hopefully it's as painless as everyone here says it's been!

Likewise. Once the wife and I buy move into our new house (we find out Friday if we get it, so exciting!) I'll look into getting the real WWE network.

Pleased to report that Unblockus is working fine, and I'm happily watching Eddie Guerrero vs. Brock Lesnar as we speak to get warmed up for this Sunday.

That said, an update on the actual Canadian launch...

http://fightnetwork.com/news/49586:list-of-on-demand-content-for-wwe-network-in-canada/

Right now the available video on demand library for WWE Network in Canada (sorry, The Best Of WWE Network, as they're calling it) consists of twelve pay per views. Five Summerslams, one Great American Bash, three Bash at the Beaches, and three ECW Heat Waves.

I hope Rogers threw a lot of money at WWE, because there's going to be a lot of very angry Canadian fans over this. Not only is it simply not available in several provinces, but in the places it is available it's a pale shadow of what it's meant to be.

...and Rogers has yanked NXT off Sportsnet 360, replaced it with Main Event, and has cancelled Vintage Collection.

What a shitty deal. What a shitty, shitty deal. I swear, I'm starting to hate that company. It makes really no difference, but we have Rogers as our cellphone carriers, and our contract is up in five months: I think we're gonna go to a different carrier. Yeah, their Cable and phone services are different, but I don't want to give them any more money than I have to.

Rant over.

Fuck Rogers up the ass. No NXT on TV (instead I can watch Main Event on a 2-day delay?) and no real WWE Network. I was really hoping to avoid having to pay for a US IP that they might see thru and go thru all the bullshit to pretend to be a REAL AMERICAN.

But Vince chose to be a money-grubbing asshole.

It is free and it works, however, it works similar to torrents in that you will be always uploading and downloading content to help other Hola users. Once I found that out, I quickly uninstalled it.

You can get a VPN for much cheaper than $5/month with US access, I've been looking around and seen deals for $19/3 years, so $5/month seems pretty pricy.

I'm okay with that. As long as it works for me. I've tested it out with Hulu and I'm quite pleased with it.

I'm going to try this with some other video sites: then I'll sign up tomorrow.

Not directly related to this, but it still shows to some extent how important Rogers views this deal. Last week in Canada, after the deal was announced, Smackdown was pre-empted on Friday for a tennis quarter-final match. Meanwhile, this week, the main event segment on Smackdown was the Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio match from two weeks ago rather than the Roman Reigns vs. The Miz match we were supposed to get.

Clearly, Rogers is going all-out to ensure Canada gets the best WWE experience it can, I say with deadpan sarcasm.

I'm a little late. It's rib night so I took a little nap. Then we had a nice poundcake. Sauer's Barbecue Sauce is what God uses on his grill. So good on ribs.... (I had visitors, so this is a bit truncated.)
