The WWE has finally announced the name for the October RAW brand PPV scheduled for Tuesday the 19th. The event, which will emanate from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be called "Taboo Tuesday".

The name was revealed in a mailer sent out to cable subscribers which listed the remaining 2004 WWE PPVs. The Smackdown PPV, No Mercy, will be held on October 3rd from East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Me thinks that is a HORRIBLE name ... extremely generic ... I've come up with better PPV names playing Smackdown on the PS2 (yes, I know it's pathetic that I make up my own PPVs)

Yeah really that is a horrible name. Usually I wouldn't complain about PPV names, but that's really pathetic. Sounds too much like the "Super Tuesday" crap from awhile ago.

Halloween Havoc was a fine name. Why did they drop it? I still don't think many people are going to buy a Tuesday PPV. It puts too much pressure on the Raw the night before.

You can only feature so many storylines in a 2hr period. People aren't going to buy a PPV when they've only had build up for 2 or 3 matches.

Ugh. lame name.

So is Unforgiven a RAW or Smackdown! PPV this year?

Probably SmackDown, seeing as how Vengeance (the split PPV before it) was Raw.

Unforgiven will be a Raw PPV even though the last brand exclusive PPV was Raw as well. Taboo Tuesday is a very bad name. Halloween Havoc would be a very good name. Perhaps they think the GAB sucked because it was haunted by WCW horrible PPVs.

Know that there IS the possibility that this won't be the finalized name of the PPV, and the WWE might've just thrown it on there as a placeholder until they think of something else (rather than having it listed as "Bonus RAW Brand PPV").

Probably already answered in another forum, but why exactly is there going to be a Tuesday pay-per-view in October? Is it an experiment they just want to try out?

Damn, last guy in the thread beats me to the This Tuesday in Milwaukee joke.

And yeah, Deputy, that's what I've heard. Now that they're doing extra PPVs they wanna see how the audience responds to events during the week. The feeling was IIRC that they thought they could get a bit of a bump in buys by making a hard push on Raw one night for the event the next day.

Personally, I don't think it'll make much difference. If they wanna increase buys, lower the price. Otherwise, I'd bet this gets the same 225-250gr that the other single brand shows have been getting.

It is probably an experiment to see how many people will make a spur of the moment purchase. I expect something with the Raw PPV that carries over into the RAW the night before with Vince calling for a special PPV.

They did this before and it bombed (I believe) but that was YEARS ago and since the audience is different why not try it again for test marketing purposes?

Ah, the classic Tuesday In Texas, where the Undertaker dropped the WWF Title back to the Hulkster, who got stripped due to Flair-ference. The whole thing led to the awewome 1992 Royal Rumble, so I guess bad ideas can work out in the end.

"Taboo Tuesday?"

I wonder what taboos will be on the PPV.

I hope this doesn't lead to the return of Katie Vick, jealous over Kane's affections toward Lita.

Maybe it will be revealed that Matt and Lita are related.

I really think if they want to have this sort of thing work, they need to do like they did at the beginning of the year with the "Road to Wrestlemania" gimmick on DirecTV: You got the three or four PPVs for a discounted price if you pay them all at once.

That should be the case here. "Order NO MERCY and TABOO TUESDAY at the same time for $60." Actually $50 would be even better, as fans could readily talk themselves into paying $15 for the additional PPV over $25.

As to the day of the week, Tuesday seems like a pretty bad night to try for. But with programming on Mondays & Thursdays, that doesn't leave too many other days free. Sunday is already taken and they seem to want to avoid Fridays and Saturdays. That leaves either Tuesdays or Wednesdays - both pretty mediocre nights of the week to get friends together and watch a 2-1/2 hours PPV.

Why couldn't they name it Halloween Havoc? The pay per view takes place in October and it would fit in a lot better than having "Tuesday" in its name considering the event takes place on a Sunday.

I'm gonna use WWE Logic here, and say that they think Great American Bash got low ratings because it had a WCW name attached to the PPV.

So they think by using a WWE original name that more people will watch.

Makes no sence, but that's the way with WWE Logic.

The event takes place on a Tuesday. It's been mentioned at least twice in this thread.

You could have a couple weeks where HHH doesn't realize Dreamer's off the writing team and keeps pandering to him. That could be fun. (RAW Satire is one of my favorite things on the board, BTW)
