No Heat match. No Heat. Just an in-studio pre-show.

London & Kendrick d. MNM to win the Tag Titles. Great match with lots of heat. London got a roll-up on one of MNM for the pin. Afterwards, Nitro & Melina turned on Mercury. They then knocked out Teddy Long. Considering that Nitro & Melina have a lot of heat, I could see this leading to a firing angle. Great. One of my favorite acts on SmackDown is no more. London & Kendrick are Tag Champs with nobody to feud with.

Chris Benoit d. Finlay. I order everyone to order this PPV and watch this match. FUCKING AWESOME~! They beat the crap out of each other for 21 minutes and it was grand. Benoit won the the crossface. YAY BENOIT~! YAY FINLAY~!

Jillian Hall d. Melina. Afterwards, Krystal asked Melina if she's been having bad luck tonight. Melina called her a bitch and tried to attack her, but Krystal got the upper hand.

JBL cut an interview, then ran into Chavo who said he's there to support Rey. ANGLE ALERT!

Gregory Helms d. Super Crazy to retain the Cruiserweight Title. Good match. Both men worked really hard. The crowd wasn't really into this (when WWE fans hear "Cruiserweight Title" they've been trained not to care), but the hard work of both men got the crowd into it more than I expected.

Teddy Long fired Melina & Nitro. I CALLED IT~!

Mark Henry d. Kurt Angle. The first half of this show was great. Unfortunatley, we still have this second half. Amazingly, this was okay. Mark Henry went after Kurt's ribs outside, and Angle was counted out. The idea was that he came back too soon. Afterwards, Angle went crazy, killed Mark with a chair, angle-slammed him on the table (WHICH DID NOT BREAK~!), and then hit him with a chair again, causing Mark to crash through the table.

An ECW One Night Stand ad aired. Thankfully, this year, Michael Cole did not say that he was a big fan back in the day.

Booker T d. Bobby Lashley in the King of the Ring finals. Good match, and the crowd was hot as hell. Finlay ran in, hit Lashley with his shellalimabob, and Booker hit the axe-kick fo the win. So now we get to have skits with KING BOOKER AND QUEEN SHARMELL~! Lashley then speared Booker on his throne, and Booker and Sharmell sold it like he had been shot ("Stay with me, baby!") The crowd then chanted 'Boogeyman'. This crowd rocks. Booker rocks. Sharmell rocks. This show rocks!

The Great Khali d. Undertaker. Khali pinned Undertaker clean, so there serious about the guy for now. Not a good match, but Undertaker worked his ass off here, and had the best match anyone could probably have with Khali.

Rey Mysterio d. JBL to retain the World Title. Hell of a little match. Rey's white mask was covered in blood. JBL kept taunting Rey's wife, who was ringside. The ref got knocked down, and JBL got a chair. Rey kicked it in his face, hit the 619, and hit a frogsplash for the win. Chavo came down to celebrate with Rey.

You can file this show in the Miracle folder. I had no hopes for it going in, but ended up as a serious 'PPV of the Year' contender.

Not surprised to see Khali win, but kind of surprised to see it end THAT way. Undertaker has now dragged two potential Dud-Of-The-Year matches into "watchable one time" category.

Not a bad world title match. Surprised that the opening tag match got more than 7 minutes. Don't like Benoit or Finley, but their matches have been one of the more entertaining elements of this brand lately.

If the WWE would let the matches run at the length they were running tonight I don't think we'd complain as much about some of the stuff they try to run down out throats.

London & Kendrick vs MNM was a really great opener and even though I'm quite behind on Smackdown I was glad to see them get the straps but sad, as Omega said, because they don't really have a team to feud with.

Chris Benoit and Finlay DELIVERED. Reminded me a bit of WCW working match and what put WCW Nitro over Raw for a while. Actual wrestling. I know I'm probably using curse mentioning WCW in PPV thread.

Jillian vs Melina was there it wasn't a stinker.

Helms vs Crazy was also there and I still love the lawn mower entrance.

Henry vs Angle was pretty good like Omega said, okay.

Booker T wins and becomes the 2006 KOR. I was really hoping for them to pull the trigger for Lashley. He's still in the mix.

Khali vs Taker wow...a little bit of sloppy big man wrestling but it was watchable and was in shock to see Taker go down. When does Taker lose at a PPV? Was his last loss Summerslam last year?

Rey vs JBL was pretty good though they kept showing Rey is the a MAJOR underdog champion and it seems more like luck than success for Rey holding on to the championship.

Overall: I was glad I went to watch it and probably would've ordered if I hadn't run to a local establishment to watch it.

They've been trying to build up Gymini with a bunch of squash matches lately. I see them as the new contenders to London and Kendrick's titles, especially with Simon Dean to work as a mouthpiece for them.

What a great, great show. They need to start putting at least one well-worked twenty minute match on every SmackDown, because they could save the brand with the quality they're able to pull out on the PPVs.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

As I mentioned here (The W), that'd be a good way to start off L/K's reign. You could also do a quick Nunzio/Vito feud based off Vito's new storyline. The best feud would be against Noble/Kash, though.

Haven't they been doing that with the KotR tourney?

Well, I wouldn't class the Lashley/Henry match as "well-worked", but I see your point. They need to carry on doing that, though, like the midshow tag match from last week. It can totaly change the face of a two-hour show.

It doesn't look like Lashley is going anywhere, I'm sure he'll still get a hard push but Booker T as "king" just has more potential to have some good segments. I wouldn't be surprised if Lashley gets some kind of rematch and wins that though.

Did anyone see them on the latest Velocity? They came to the ring wearing dog collars & chains (straight out of the Basham Brothers garage sale).

But they did have matching tights, so for the moment, I guess they can be considered a serious "team".

Although they haven't been on every week, they've been teaming together regularly for a few months.

Interesting...

We all thought that the MNM breakup had to do with Melina's prissy backstage attitude and Nitro's refusal to associate with the boys over her. But now, 411's reporting that Meltzer's saying that the breakup was Mercury's fault. Apparantly, he failed a Wellness test and is being sent to rehab.

That's certainly a more logical reason to break them up, but it still doesn't mean they couldn't have done an injury angle instead. (The Gymini are *right there*, 'fer cryin' out loud!)

It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...

The cameramen are supposed to be completely neutral, like reporters. Their just supposed to watch and show the "action" taking place.
