There would be nothing more self-indulgent than if this company created skits where Ryback would bust through a wall and toss around nerds (with glasses, pocket protectors, the whole nine) sitting behind their computers before bopping them over the head with their laptops.

Yeah...it would definitely be...self-indulgent...and AWESOME!!!

Screwjob or not, the result validates everything Hunter said. That makes Daniel Bryan into a loser.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

Summerslam: Daniel Bryan pins John Cena, WINS the WWE title. (For a few minutes, but...)
Night of Champions: Daniel Bryan "pins" Randy Orton, WINS the WWE title.
Battleground: Daniel Bryan and everyone else gets KOed by Big Show. Daniel Bryan does not lose.
Hell in a Cell: Daniel Bryan loses for the first time in four PPVs via referee shenanigans.

I get your point, but Daniel Bryan hadn't actually *lost* in a legit match in months, so calling him a "loser" isn't really true. I get the point that he's not winning and keeping the WWE title, but isn't the story that he's GOING to win it and HHH KNOWS it, so he's doing everything possible to prevent it from happening?

My nine year-old loves the job she did having the correct pants for the outfit. Well done!

Not to detour the thread, but thanks! She's super stoked. Here is the story of a Great Moment in Parenting™, as told through e-mails.

Preface: IJ and I had been in the car the night before and she was talking about how she was excited to be Katniss for Halloween, but that the shirt was super-expensive and she'd have to wear it again if we bought it, AND like five of her friends were *already* going to be Katniss. Plus, she had said "hopefully I can get a John Cena shirt for Christmas. Or a Daniel Bryan shirt. Or a CM Punk shirt. Or..."

*lightbulb*

JJD: So, IJ and I saw a commercial that WWE is going to be having Raw at the Key Arena on Monday, December 9th. So would you want to go? (I think you'd have a blast watching your daughter.)
Mrs. JJD: She watches WWE?
JJD: It's only like her most favorite thing ever.
Mrs. JJD: L O L
JJD: Why did I think you already knew this? Does she already have her halloween costume? (I know she picked Katniss.)
Ms. JJD: She does not, we're going tomorrow to get everything.
JJD: Do yourself a favor and ask her if she wants to dress up as John Cena for Halloween. She has not mentioned this to me or anything, but just do it and see what happens.
Ms. JJD: Oh is John Cena her man?
JJD: "Dad, did you know John Cena is left-handed? And he roots for the Patriots?"
Ms. JJD: Oh dear.

Fast-forward to the next afternoon.
Ms. JJD: So, which store did you say has the WWE shirts?

It is a definite step up from WWE's infinite wisdom of having CM Punk get pinned on 4 straight PPVs immediately after he'd stopped the earth's rotation at Money in the Bank. And this was the guy they'd already decided to make their new #2 star.

I just wanted to remind everyone that when Stone Cold became "the next big thing" after WM13, they didn't just put the belt on him at "A Cold Day In Hell". No, Austin lost (after the Hart Foundation interfered). Afterwards he was out of the WWF title picture for months, as they put him in midcard feuds for the IC title against Owen Hart and Rocky Maivia. THEN, many months after his career-making match at WM13, he won the Rumble and subsequently the WWF title at WM14. The same goes for guys like Shawn Michaels in 1995/1996.

I hope (and think) that's what they are trying to do here with Daniel Bryan, giving him a real, "classic" Wrestlemania-push. Winning the big belt at Summerslam or at Battleground might make you a star, but only winning the belt at WM makes you a legend and true player in this game.

TITLE CHANGE STATISTICS

WWE Championship
New Champion: Randy Orton
Previous Champion: Vacant
2013 Title Changes: Sixth

This is Randy Orton's eighth reign as WWE Champion. He has also won the World Heavyweight Championship three times, making him an eleven-time world heavyweight champion overall.

His eighth WWE Title win ties him for second-place on that list with Triple H and The Rock. Only John Cena has won more WWE Championships, with eleven to his credit.

Randy Orton's mean average WWE Championship reign length is 64 days, with the longest being his second (203 days), and his shortest being his first (about 12 minutes, which I just counted as "0" for the sake of the math).

Orton's win on Sunday was, surprisingly, only the third time the WWE Championship has changed hands in a Hell in a Cell match, and the second time Orton has done it. Orton defeated Cena at the Hell in a Cell PPV on 10/4/09, and Alberto Del Rio defeated champion Cena and fellow challenger CM Punk at the same event in 2011.

(The World Heavyweight Championship has changed hands twice in Hell in a Cell matches, and again, both times, they were at the Hell in a Cell PPV).

World Heavyweight Championship
New Champion: John Cena
Former Champion: Alberto Del Rio (133 days)
2013 Title Changes: Fourth

This is John Cena's third reign with the World Heavyweight Championship, and first since losing it to Edge on 4/26/09 at Backlash. Added to his 11 reigns as WWE Champion, this makes Cena a 14-time world heavyweight champion.

To put that in perspective: Ric Flair was hailed as a "13-time world heavyweight champion" in 1997. However, Flair's eight NWA reigns totaled 3,103 days (and that's without counting his WCW reigns); Cena's 14 reigns have totaled about a third of that time.

So, bottom line, titles change hands much more frequently than they used to. Stop the presses.

Cena's previous two reigns as World Heavyweight Champion totaled 105 days, for a mean average of 52.5. The mean average of his 11 WWE Title reigns, 106.45 days, is greater than the total combined length of his two previous World Title reigns.

Cena's win ended the 133-day reign of Alberto Del Rio, which was by far Del Rio's longest reign with a world championship. (Del Rio is a two-time WWE, and two-time World Heavyweight Champion). Thus far, each successive Del Rio title reign has been longer than the previous one-- he had WWE Title reigns of 33 and 49 days in 2011, and then World Title reigns of 90 and 133 days in 2013.

So, at this rate, we should be on the lookout for a six-month-long Alberto Del Rio WWE Championship Reign of Terror in 2015. (I'm rather reminded of this XKCD comic).

This is the second straight year that the World Heavyweight Title has changed hands at the Hell in a Cell PPV, and last year's title change (The Big Show defeating Sheamus) didn't take place inside the titular structure either.
