If they induct King Kong Bundy, I might very well die a happy man.

Out of those, though, you've got to think this will Bret's year, what with the DVD in the works.... I could see the Shiek in there, just because, and if you have Bret, Owen is probably a lock as well.

But if I can sway in the voting in any small way: KEEP BUNDY ALIVE IN 2005!

Personally, depending on how you look at it (is it a *WWE* HOF?), the only people I wouldn't include are;

Richter, Terry Funk, Solie, Dusty, Windham, Orton, and Bundy.

That's if you're looking at it from a strictly WWE history standpoint.

But, I understand that it really doesn't go that way (See: Race, Harley), so from an overall wrestling standpoint, I'd leave Richter, Windham, Orton, and Bundy off.

If I had only 3 votes; Hogan, Piper, and Bret Hart.

Those three had the biggest impact on American wrestling, IMO.

Cool to see WWE doing this, but DAMN them for only allowing you to choose one. I guess I'd have to go with Hogan because of his insane impact on WWF, but deep down I kind of want to pick Bret, just to see how much or little Vince will try to persuade him to show up to the HOF ceremony (although I doubt Bret would ever show).

EDIT: I just read the "This is not an official ballot" disclaimer, so I guess it really doesn't matter who I vote for. VIVA KING KONG BUNDY~!

I had to pick Hogan ... no questions asked ...

But I admit, there should be a 'Pick 3' option or something.

I can't help but notice that Hogan is referred to as Hollywood Hogan. Would that confirm the rumor that the rights to "Hulk" have lapsed?

And I voted for Backlund, since I figured most other worthy contenders would get the votes anyway.

Yes, they seem to refer to him as Hollywood Hogan only recently.
So many good options btw..with several that should definitely be in there. And I know it doesn't mean anything but I am shocked Macho is missing

I was under the impression that WWE and Marvel were on good terms and still conducting business as usual. I can't see why the rights to "HULK" couldn't be sorted out. Damn, he just never really was "Hollywood" to me. He'll always be the Hulkster.

EDIT: And shouldn't "Cowboy Bob Orton" actally be:
Cowboy Ace The Bodyguard Boxin' Bob Orton?

Marvel has been sue happy lately. They are going after the City of Hero game designers and Pixar, because the Incrediables are too closely ressamble the Fantastic Four's powers. The Hulk deal comes after the WWE forgot to renew the agreement they had with Marvel which is using the Hulk name since Marvel trademarked Hulk first. As of now it is still in the courts and we probably won't hear about it for another year one way or another. I think its stupid, but I think all of Marvel's current lawsuits have been pretty stupid.

My conscience compelled me to pick Bret Hart, but if I could have made another pick it would have been Bob Backlund. His mid-90's stuff was just fantastic.

About to go cast my vote. I'd have to say that I wanted to vote Bret. I wanted to vote Piper. I WANTED to vote Henning. But for me....the countless times I yelled at my TV for people to beat him, the pure heel tatics he had, the laugh, the time I marked out when Virgil FINALLY punked him out.

That was my price. And you know....everybody has one (so the man said). One of the best and most entertaining heels ever.

Its interesting to see Bret Hart, Wendi Richter and Bruno Sammartino on the list. I mean, they're obviously good candidates but the possible implication that they might appear at the ceremony, since Vince doesn't seem to induct living wrestlers who refuse to appear. There are multiple people I'd love to vote too...Hogan, Backlund, Hennig, Piper, Bret..and personally I'd love to see an Iron Sheik speech.

If you are going on pure wrestling history, Bruno and Backlund are there way before Hogan. Hogan meant more to the BUSINESS of wrestling than any other man on the planet (until SCSA became famous) but he was never on the level of Bruno or Backlund.

And, Gordon Solie should be in. No doubt about it.

It's inevitable that guys like Hogan and Bret will be in there.....so if WWE is REALLY looking at this list to see who the fans want in 2004, I'm casting my vote for the ROAD WARRIORS.

I don't know if this is "okay" to say or not....but I really don't think Owen should get in.

"Vince doesn't seem to induct living wrestlers who refuse to appear."

Remember that Backlund was already "in" last year until he decided not to come. IIRC, Bruno was also invited but declined.

"Hogan was never on the level of Bruno or Backlund."

Well yes, he was at an even higher level.

"And, Gordon Solie should be in. No doubt about it."

Yeah, if the likes of Race and JYD are in, Solie is in. And he can't turn them down like Dusty did.

"I really don't think Owen should get in."

Well, it's the WWE Hall of Fame. It's 'criteria' is meaningless. Pete Rose and Tito Santana are in, and Owen Hart made a much bigger, erm, impact than they did, no pun intended. ĦArriba!

Hey, Pete IS in the "Celebrity" wing of the HOF

I think the fact that there is no defined criteria to being eligible let alone voted in hurts its credibility. The WWE (more specifically, Vince) can pretty much put anyone they want in, deserving or not.

Then again, this IS wrestling, where credibility is oftentimes thrown out the window.
