Tonight was probably the first time I watched Smackdown all the way through in a hella long time and I was pretty satisfied with it.

I totally dig JBL's commentary. I like that we have a clear heel personality on the announcing side again. I liked the team of Tazz and Cole, but they were basically buddies. I like that JBL clearly acts like he doesn't like Cole and talks about how he hates him.

Kennedy/Benoit - good match for the most part. I like the rare occassions when Benoit basically just owns his opponent and wins the match like he did here. I'm really not impressed by Kennedy's skills though, it was pretty obvious who was carrying their weight more in this match-up. Well Benoit comes back and wins a title. I'm happy, that is if Benoit actually has a good reign with it this time. Ultimately, it has to be Benoit vs. Booker T for the world title at Armageddon. Really, what else can they logically do with the main event at Cyber Sunday and the rumored main event for Survivor Series?

The triple threat match, again good stuff. I liked it better than the No Mercy main event. For whatever reason, Batista and Lashley didn't look as bad tonight as they did last Sunday.

Rey/Noble had a good little match. It's frustrating that Noble really has nothing again now that Kash is gone. Looks like it's back to jobberville.

This shit though with Rey/Chavo is beyond sick, that they actually have Vicki playing this evil character now is just depressing. If Smackdown just stopped this, I'd have no problem in saying that it's easily the best wrestling show on TV right now.

For the first time in a long time, I'm looking forward to watching Smackdown again. Almost bizarre.

Next week's "I Quit" match is supposedly going to be the big blowoff, meaning this shit with Rey, Chavo, and Vicki can FINALLY be put to rest. And not a moment too soon, because the whole thing is still extremely tasteless.

Best match of the night was definitely Benoit/Kennedy. I think those two could have a pretty decent feud if they decide to move Kennedy away from Undertaker.

TEN YEARS AGO IN WRESTLING HISTORY: OCTOBER 1996
WWF: Mankind d. Undertaker in the first ever Buried Alive match at...WWF Buried Alive. Also, Steve Austin continued his efforts to bring Bret Hart back to the ring by turning on Brian Pillman, shattering his ankle in what to this day is known as "Pillmanizing".

WCW: Hulk Hogan d. Randy Savage in a main event no one cared about, but Roddy Piper came out immediately after to end Halloween Havoc with a bang. The Outsiders won their first WCW Tag Team titles by beating Harlem Heat.

They've cleaned up Chavo/Rey storyline a ton. Now it's more about betrayal of friendship and all that. And hey, the crowds have stopped chanting Eddy's name (which is good for all parties.)

And Vicky is becoming a useful little heel manager. And Chavo is getting over as a heel. And it looks for all the world like we're gonna get a Benoit/Chavo feud for the US title.

So y'know, this started off as the worst angle ever, but it's turned into something useful, so it's all good in the hood to me.

So does this mean that Rey moves to RAW (after his rumored knee surgery)?

Rey going to Raw's not a bad idea, really. His SmackDown options are pretty much exhausted at this point, and there are some great potential feuds for him on Monday nights.

SmackDown was pretty ace this week, I thought. I think I'm the only person on the face of the Earth who digs MVP.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Also, I still heard the fans chanting Eddie's name LOUD AND CLEAR at No Mercy and on Smackdown this week.

Do you realize how sick it is that WWE is trying to get us to BOO Eddie Guerrero's widow? And that Vicki has become this evil woman that was dressing as Stephanie McMahon circa 2000?

I'm praying that Benoit stays as far away from this shit as possible.

So y'know, this started off as the worst angle ever, but it's turned into something useful, so it's all good in the hood to me.

What the fuck is useful about this shit? If anything it started out as the worst angle ever and it got even worse than that.

On top of the "Eddie" chants, the wonderful Jacksonville crowd was also trying to resurrect the "What?" chant as well. Nothing like going to a show with a couple of friends who haven't been into wrestling in a while and trying to explain how that just started up again. Of course I told them that everyone in Jacksonville (who is a wrestling fan/mark) is retarded.

I'm a fan of MVP too. I'm also a fan of the GI Bro jokes going on between JBL and King Booker.

I'm superpsyched about La Resistance because I've been waiting for two months for Conway to re-emerge on Smackdown. But now there's La Resistance and no Conway, gulp. A Conway'd La Res could be great opponents for Kendrick and London.
