On the one hand, they'd hit each other with their best offense and kept getting up from it, so it was interesting that the winner had to do so by outsmarting the other. On the other hand, it comes off as a comedy finish, and it doesn't match the hatred in the Cena/Batista feud; you expect that match to end when one guy beats the other within an inch of his life.
That was a bald Joey Mercury, btw. I didn't recognize him at first.

I thought it was OK, but the Last Man Standing stipulation meant a LOT of standing around and Superman comebacks. I was kind of mellow on the finish until Cena flashed the "You Can't See Me" in Batista's face, and it was certainly an interesting way to go with the finish, I'll give 'em that much.
The only other thing I really saw was Teddy piling onto ShoMiz, and I couldn't help but thing the whole "here's a match that will set-up a title shot on RAW"-thing was just a bit backwards from how it's supposed to work.

I didn't see the show, but am I reading correctly from Meltzer that they announced that they would face three teams, and whoever beat them first got the title shot? I mean, isn't that totally telegraphing the ending? | Psycho Penguin

Yep, thats why I said "the IWC" and not 'the W'. I notice on a lot of boards (that I don't post on, just read) a lot of people were convinced the plug would be pulled on Swagger already. I hope this is the start of them finally giving him a good push.

I passed on the PPV and got updates while watching History Channel's America: Fuck Yeah. They glossed right over the hardships of the rebels while focusing on Washigton being America's first Spymaster and how to cure Small Pox. Also, a gay general was responsible for helping to train America into a solid fighting force, oh the irony. Anyway back to this crap.
It looked like a fairly boring PPV, you know its bad when Jericho/Edge get "Boring" chants. I hate the 3 Stooges ending to Cena/Batista. It turns a feud that was red hot with real anger and frustration into something done on the Rock N Wrestling cartoon. If Batista does leave then I am 50/50 on his reasoning. He is not the first guy to complain about HHH's politics or standing in the company, but at least he has the balls to walkout. However, it does seem more of hissy fit then anything else. There could be more to it or it could be a plant story by the WWE or a total falsehood. After last night, I don't know what to think. I hope he stays. He has been on fire as a heel until the Mania match and last night did him no favors. The draft should be interesting unless its another rape Smackdown to feed the Raw beast.

Good match but the crowd wasn't into it as much as you'd think. Anderson-Angle was unquestionably the better cage match. I could see Edge being moved to Raw and turning Heel. Could HHH been protected any more in his loss? I hope it all leads to him taking a few months off. I predicted Swagger to lose last night but with his loss to Morrison on Smackdown it made me rethink my prediction. I am glad he won. | hansen9j

Yeah, I haven't been wowed by him. I'll be interested to see how he clicks once he moves out of the Jericho feud, since that's been the entirety of his face run to date.

| #14 Posted on 26.4.10 2356.06 | Instant Rating: 2.00 | The PPV was balanced with a couple great matches with some lackluster matches as well. And for a PPV called "Extreme Rules", it is sad that the women's match had the most foreign objects used.
Punk and Rey was the best overall match of the night and it looked like Rey was going to win at multiple points in the match. In the end, it was another SES member (later discovered to be Joey Mercury) that allowed Punk to win.
Edge and Jericho had no feeling to it nor was it exciting to watch; the crowd is no longer feeling it for Edge being face anymore.
Sheamus and Trips was disappointing and so was the strap match between Shad and JTG (I kinda like Shad's new music).
As for the last man standing match, it was slow at first about the first half of it, then the last 10 minutes or so picked up and ended up being a solid match.
The best entertainment of the PPV was Striker and Lawler exchanging verbal blows at each other as both in reality cannot stand each other (probably Lawler more than Striker though).
I would say roughly a 2.5 out of 5 stars for the PPV but the commentary would get 5 out of 5 stars for the verbal blows that were given as Lawler and Striker were just funny to listen to.

Discovered by who, exactly? When?
Lawler and Striker sniping at each other may get off the guy yelling in their headsets™ but I'm not really finding it as entertaining as other people seem to be.

It has been noted (and confirmed) on other websites that it was actually Joey Mercury; one of my friends who writes for this and another website found this out about a half hour after the PPV was over and definitely confirmed it yesterday while also reading from a newletter that is sent to him (this may sound not credible to some, but when someone finds similar information on other sources, then I go outside the realm of coinsidence).
As for Lawler and Striker, I still say the real life tension between these two makes for entertaining television. It is interesting and funny to find and listen to something that isn't actually staged.

I picked everything right except the Strap match...okso HHH/Sheamus I waffled on and didn't get my Diva predicition in on time, but it would have been right.
Given how much time the gauntlet match was given I'm glad they moved the Tag Team title match to RAW. Even though it was inevatable that Hart Dynsaty would be the last team and win.
I enjoyed the show even if the ending to the Cena/Batista match was goofy.
And I guess HHH is now out long enough to film Batista's movie.

I think Meltzer had it a while ago that Lawler doesn't exactly enjoy working with Striker. |
