This is exciting! We stand at a crossroads (<--not funny) where a multi-billion dollar company is about to undertake (<--funny) its biggest and most potentially risky venutre since the very first Wrestlemania exactly 30 years ago.* Tonight, a company must choose between two roads. One road leads to the side of logic, the side of good storytelling (the very industry in which this company claims to be), the side that is, ironically, Best For Business, the side that answers the call of the fanbase to whom they pay much lip-service but seem to so thoroughly resent, the side that would express genuine internal change at the moment they attempt to realize their biggest external change. The other road leads to the side they have always taken, the side of letting a major, publicly-traded entertainment business be guided purely by spite, the side that sees them digging in their heels because to do otherwise forces them to acknowledge that their terrible ideas were terrible and that they were compelled to relent and change their minds at the last hour because the their fanbase hijacked their shows from them, perhaps with some help from a rebellious employee or two who don't do enough crunches.

*Not exactly 30 years ago.

This is it, the ultimate Battle of Good vs. Evil given form in the one place where we knew it was always destined to take place, on the grandest stage of them all, at the showcase of the immortals: The Panic-Filled Writers' Room In The Hours Before The Raw A Few Weeks Before Wrestlemania XXX.

Now, they must choose. At the end of that wrong path there lies Daniel Bryan vs. Kane, a match a year too late, that nobody really wants, that signifies everything wrong with this company, that strikes a blow for cynicism, that wins the day for lotjx and solidifies his place as The Greatest Internet Wrestling Man Of All Time.

At the end of that right path there lies Daniel Bryan winning the title in the main event of Wrestlemania XXX, a match that shows a company willing to change, that gives cause for hope and optimism, a match that wins it for...I don't know, let's give this to Amos, because he seems nice and rational at least partially because I assume he's British and imagine his posts with a delightful accent and also because he's the user here for whom I've been able to construct a character arc of someone who has gone from very (possibly too!) forgiving of the Sports Entertainment Machine to showing some hard-earned disillusionment in the system while tinged with the respectable quiet faith we all want to have in the frivolities on which we have used our limited hours on this earth.

And so here we are, it's time, the big event fully loaded on judgment day, with no way out, in which no mercy will be given by the backlash of fan insurrextion and also In Your House: Beware Of Dog. Hulk Hogan will return. Brock Lesnar will return. The Undertaker will return. The Undertaker will point at Brock Lesnar and run his thumb across his throat and maybe point at the XXX sign too but probably not at the same time but he should because that would look really cool. Kofi Kingston will probably wrestle Antonio Cesaro or something. All of this has happened before, but NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.

Unless they punt to next week in Chicago, after which NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.

I was hoping that the WWE would see how hot Wyatts/Shield is and scrap the rumored Wyatt/Cena and go with a rematch at WM and slide Cena over to Cesaro instead. When Ambrose disappeared I hoped he was going to come back at the last minute to save Reigns as a way to try and keep them together a little bit longer. But with Wyatt moving on to Cena it doesn't look that way.

My favorite spot of the night is when Cesaro throws Christian up in the air to hit one of his patented upper cuts and instead Christian grabs on to the cage and doesn't come back down. Christian's desperate antics were fantastic. Sheamus and Cesaro brawling together were great and I could see that as a WM match now. Orton's heel tactics were great, especially when he slowly crawled under the bottom rope to pin Cena after the Wyatts had taken him out and then slowly backed back out. Really, Bryan and Cena were the least effective wrestlers in the Elimination Chamber to me.

I'm all for a "Thank You Wyatt" chant when Wyatt eliminates Cena because it has something to do with the match but when fans chant for other random wrestlers during somebody else's match I don't find it that amusing. TNA's fans used to do trollish things like that and people said it was terrible now WWE fans do it and suddenly it's awesome. They shit on a pretty good NAO/Usos match for no reason other than to be "cute".

Cena will beat the Wyatt family with a broken arm and help from Hulkamania. There is also no need to get the WWE network today. Its rather silly when you can wait and get SummerSlam for free if you ordered it in April.

The next six weeks will be all about Hogan coming back, Lesnar/Taker, Orton crying about how no one respects him, Batista being booed, Shield breaking up, Daniel getting screwed over and Cena beating the Wyatt family prior to Mania and then killing them at Mania.

Vince doesn't care, because he has your money and you are still giving it to him. Wyatt/Shield was great, but it was for nothing. Instead of one of them having the titles, the New Age Outlaws. TNA has a better younger team as their tag champs, TNA who is its death throws if you believe the IWC. There is trolling the fans to get some form of cheap press than there is handing out favors to your friends at the expense of your company who by the way, barely made a profit last quarter and now dropped by DISH, so the buyrate for this is probably not good either.

I have no idea where this blind devotion that they will get Bryan right when there is zero evidence they can.

You're really letting that one correct prediction you got six months ago go to your head, my man.

I think I am past the just one prediction about how wrong this company has been since that day and probably going all the way back to SummerSlam. According to some people Sting should have been here by now. Regardless, it doesn't matter what Cole says, it doesn't matter how many sad panda face fans they have in their audience, all that matter is what Vince wants or what Vince signed.

Rumors were in Batista's contract, he is main eventing Mania. Now, yes they can add Bryan to it, but in that document lays the entire problem with Bryan, Vince doesn't have any faith him. Why sign a part timer again if you believe you have The Man right there? You don't. You don't throw away the last year away if you think you have the next big thing. Signing Batista was the extent of Vince signing Sid in 1998 and letting him win the Rumble instead of Austin. That is what is happening now.

Can they reverse course? Sure. Will they? I doubt. Everyone here has been going on the assumption that Vince will listen to the fans, he doesn't have to. Its Wrestlemania XXX, almost everyone here is going to buy it regardless if Bryan is in the main event. Some of you if after the WWE says Bryan won't be in the main event will buy it, because in their minds he has to be in the main event and it will be the Rumble all over again. Even if he is in the main event, I doubt he wins. The WWE's favorite new thing seems to be trolling the fans even with the Network happening right now, DISH dropping their PPVs and shopping Raw and Smackdown around to other networks, who may realize that for the Network to sustain Raw and Smackdown have to be on it.

They are playing with fire and maybe they will get out unscacthed like did with Wrestlemania I. I just would not pin my hopes on Vince coming to his senses or HHH not doing something that doesn't benefit him. The Wyatt/Shield deserve the mid-card Mania Main Event, but they will be too busy losing to Cena or breaking up. Its a damn shame, because they deserve the spotlight.

An excellent point. Sign up today and it's six weeks (or so) until Mania. Wait until closer to Mania and you can fit an extra PPV in at the end of your first six-month commitment.

Meltzer's speculation (look, it's bold, that means he's merely guessing so don't take this as fact) is that Mania will be Bryan/Kane or Bryan/HHH... with the stipulation that Bryan will be added to the main event if he wins. I don't mind the idea but I'd rather see either of those matches as a Raw main event so as to make Bryan's inclusion official before the PPV starts. Cyber Sunday and Usenet Tuesday showed that people don't buy PPVs based on possible matches. (Of course, this is Mania so probably everyone with any interest will buy it or watch it via the Network anyway.)

Elimination Chamber 2014 will be on the Network on March 28th. Hopefully, the billing page will have loaded by then.

I don't get why everyone is saying that the WWE is somehow mishandling Daniel Bryan, despite the fact that he's been in nearly every big match and has been the focal point of Raw for how many months?

It's wrestling; it doesn't really matter if he's in the "main event" or the champion, since wins and losses don't really matter.

A stupid point, which has been repeated over and over and it must stop! This week is free, so the six month commitment starts 3/3 and SummerSlam is definitely in August. Also, it's not "free," it's 9.99 a month. The only difference is you can quit after SummerSlam.

I think the idea is that all the first-run and classic content will be worth your 9.99/month RIGHT NOW. If you're only in it for the PPVs, I guess you could wait to pay for a month which has a PPV. But what you're essentially saying is you're deciding between the ability to watch the Network today and cancel after SummerSlam vs. the ability to watch the Network in a month and cancel after Night of Champions. If you're never gonna cancel, does it matter?

So, you want people to $9.99 for no new PPV in March? There is no need to get it in March unless you really really want to see the Mania hype and the content that will be there when you ordered it in in April. To be fair, after six months, how much past content are you really going to watch? The first run stuff is just the PPVs and the third rate shows. Smackdown and Raw are still on a delay. There is also the issue that the first week is going to be a problem for any website when its first release. You might as well wait to see if they can figure it out or see if it become RawCare.Gov

Patience, my love, patience. For your retribution is ever nigh. At long last, this night's moon will carry a reckoning so pure-- whoops sorry, was just talking to myself for a second. Um. Anyhoo, nobody said Sting would be on TV already.

I had the same thought, especially since it looked like Bray just sort of moved Bryan into the corner rather than really harming him. A little part of me thought perhaps the Wyatt family takes out Cena AND Orton to show that they answer to nothing and no one.

Also, that six-man match was just so wonderful I never wanted it to end.

Also also, if Shapiro's hunch that HHH's Mania opponent has returned, and said fellow were to appear at the end of next week's Raw to perhaps save Daniel Bryan, the pop might actually cause seismographers to assume Chicago is being hit with an earthquake.

Batista offering up his spot to Bryan if he can beat him one on one (with a little encouragement from the Hulkster of course) would eliminate all the heat he's getting & allow them a way to salvage good-guy Dave.

Batista could say he's been watching and doesn't agree with the way things have gone down, he knows Bryan deserved to go to Wrestle-Mania & last night was the final straw.

The only way he can try and make it right is with what he has... his mania ticket.

An intense match that goes back and forth but in the end Bryan gets the upper hand, however HHH comes in & pedigrees Bryan then casually strolls off, leaving a conflicted Batista in the ring. With tears in his eyes, he does the noble thing & walks over the top rope, letting the Ref count him out.

You'd go from wanting to Boo-Tista! (see wat i did there?) to wanting to give him a big dang hug.

Well...The Viper Randy Orton, versus The Animal Batista, i.e., top contender, before totally icy haters in NOLA?

NO! Rather, it'll evolve to include Daniel Bryan! A safe bet that Triple H can't stop it anymore, no worries. YES!

SummerSlam was admittedly a stupid point. I did no calendar math. But waiting in order to try to squeeze an extra PPV into the six-month commitment? Less stupid.

Agreed that it doesn't matter if you're not likely to quit after the first six-month chunk. And if the WWE Network launched in Canada today I'd be fighting the virtual crowds with the rest of you.

Instead I'll let other people fight with launch-day panics and proxy servers and US billing addresses and all that good stuff. Once they've got it sorted out, I can get in on this.
