The draft might not be as exciting as it used to be, but it seems like we should at least have a thread about it.

Some big names on Raw have run out of things to do. Umaga is the most obvious. How about making a big change and also moving Cena? Probably not going to happen, Randy Orton seems more likely, but moving all three would really change things up. Lesser names like Trevor Murdoch, Charlie Haas or The Highlanders might be good candidates to go.

Smackdown/ECW guys that probably could use a change. CM Punk and his briefcase and losing streak. A fresh start might help him. I could see them moving Finlay, but I wouldn't. He's got a nice niche on Smackdown and I would rather see someone like MVP get the move. I don't know his status, but it's probably time to move Rey as well. Smackdown doesn't have a huge roster so I figure they move a woman and also a few guys they want to repackage or release (Deuce/Domino).

The Undertaker is "fired" so he probably isn't draft eligible, but he can eventually make his return to whichever brand is hurting the most with injuries.

So, the draft could be a nice way to freshen things up before they go back to breaking the rules and crossing brands whenever they feel like it again.

If the ECW tapings are moving to Mondays before Raw, then I'd expect Smackdown to get the biggest draft boost due to the fact that SD would suddenly lose its "talent-sharing" agreement. Maybe Estrada is drafted to Raw and he arranges to switch the 'talent-sharing' to Raw in order to keep his ECW GM job.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

I could see Trevor Murdoch get drafted to Smackdown...I mean, the WWE tends to break up teams and not give them a blow-off match, right?

I'm terrible at predicting these things...but I'd love to see Jericho, Michaels, Umaga, and Orton join Smackdown; Batista, Edge, and Mysterio join Raw, and ECW...? Well, they're pretty much always on SD, so I guess Raw wins here.

I just hope they don't shake up the announce teams. Unless JBL or Tazz join Michael Cole on Smackdown, I say keep them the way they are.

How is Randy Orton more likely to go to Smackdown? He was, pre-injury, the top heel on RAW, which essentially makes him top heel in WWE. Unless Edge moves to RAW, he already fills the position as the top heel on Smackdown. Edge and Orton switching shows simultaneously would have been one thing, but it's not a fair trade now with Orton on the DL.

The draft shake up is sorely needed, depending on who goes where, but I think a well-placed heel turn or two would accomplish a lot as well. For instance, Batista could turn heel and move to RAW. Triple H vs. Batista once more with the face/heel sides reversed from 2005 would work for a few months, as well as open up a slew of new opponents for Batista. Batista vs. Jeff Hardy would be most interesting in that regard.

Even a Triple H heel turn is probably overdue. Sounds stale, I know, but he has no heels to face on RAW right now besides JBL, who's in no position to challenge for the WWE Title after losing to Cena twice in two PPVs. A heel Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy would also be good business. (This is of course all assuming that Hardy does blow it for his third strike. And the way things go these days, the wheels could fall off the wagon at any moment.)

Conversely, Shawn Michaels turning heel would also open up some interesting matches. HBK vs. Hardy, HBK vs. Jericho, HBK vs. Triple H would all have new spins on them if Michaels played the heel role in Orton's stead.

Back to the draft, though. If I had my way:

I'd send Batista to RAW as a heel (and keep Triple H face).
Shawn Michaels to Smackdown as a face to face Edge.
Umaga to Smackdown seems to be a given and I have no issues.
Mr. Kennedy to Smackdown because the RAW writers hate him.
MVP to RAW in Kennedy's spot.
London and Kendrick to Smackdown to face Morrison and Miz, who should also move to Smackdown if they keep the belts with ECW tapings moving to RAW.
Cryme Time to Smackdown to face the Edge Heads. Let Smackdown be where the tag team divison prospers. They tend to have more TV time for matches than RAW so it's a good fit for these young guys to have longer tag matches.
Super Crazy to ECW.
Carlito to ECW. If Smackdown gets John Morrison, Carlito can take his spot.

Divas:

Kelly Kelly to RAW. That's right. Because she's in all likelihood the Playboy girl next year so she might as well move to the flagship show now.
Ashley to ECW.
Natalya to RAW. This would create the bad ass Beth Phoenix and Natalya Neidhart tag team to face Melina and Mickie James. Matches between those four could power the RAW Divas division all summer and into the fall.
Jillian back to Smackdown.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some people but most everyone else can stay where they are.

I think one of the freshest things they can do is swap the Hardys. I'm pretty sure Jeff has been Raw ever since the brand split and Matt has been Smackdown other than the Edge feud and their tag matches. Jeff's gotten a title match on Raw so he could get a feud with Edge and they can play up the TLC background. Matt can have Jeff's spot as the guy close to a World Title (but probably will never win it)

Batista turning heel and going to Raw to face Triple H is a good idea. I'd similarly like to see Jericho go to Smackdown as a face and feud with Edge. I'm sure Edge and Jericho probably feuded at some point but not with Edge as a heel.

I think all the tag teams should stick to one show but I say make it Raw and move the Women's Title, Beth Phoenix and Mickie James to Smackdown.

Chavo needs to move to Smackdown since they can't borrow him from ECW anymore.

I'd also say move Umaga and Murdoch to Smackdown for Rey and Finlay.

I sort of like that list, but no way Kennedy and Marella are moving to Smackdown. Kennedy's actually being groomed to be a star, which means he stays on the star brand. And Marella's far too entertaining to put on Smackdown.

I'm not going to say "if I were doing the draft I would X Y and Z". I am doing predictions based on scientific merits (dirt sheets and an attempt at logical reasoning for an illogical industry) and NOT FANTASY BOOKING. You're welcome, Zed.

Well, we all know Umaga's already going. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jeff follow him (so they can continue their feud that's been on and off for a hundred years - just call Umaga "England" and Hardy "France") and for them to actually do a Hardy Switch as has been mentioned.

For RAW, I expect Undertaker to show up and for them to not even attempt to explain that unbeknownst to everyone the stipulation in the match with Edge only counted for Smackdown.

All other "picks" or whatever will be inconsequential and won't matter. I just looked up the picks for the last draft they did out of curiosity, and man is it sad. Of the 10 moves in the main draft, a whopping THREE are still with the company, and two of them are named Khali and Snitsky.

I also predict Chuck Palumbo moves from Obscurity to Relative Obscurity.

I wouldn't want to see a Hardy switch just because Matt is a prime candidate to be buried over on Raw. I'd rather have both Hardy's on the same brand.

Plus one guy died!

Cole at the PPV and Ross on Monday did both make a specific point to mention that Undertaker was done forever and would not be eligible for the draft.

I read this quote 10 minutes ago and I am still laughing. How awesome would that be if they really drafted everyone as to what they are:

Jim Ross: OH MY GOD! Umaga has been drafted by Smackdown and goes from JTTS on RAW to JTTS on Smackdown! What a coup for Smackdown! This is a huge blow for RAW! Where will we ever find a JTTS like Umaga?

"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."

One of the main reasons I was looking forward to Umaga going to Smackdown was to see him fight Taker, but you have to admit Umaga against the leaner meaner Big Show has the potential to be quite violent and fun.
