http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/96632/Update-on-the-Latest-Inductees-Into-the-WWE-Hall-of-Fame.htm

It looks like some of the names of the 2009 Hall of Fame inductess have been announced, and it's a pretty good list to me:

Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat, Terry and Dory Funk, Bill Watts and the Von Erich Family.

I personally would like to see Big Van Vader, Stan Hansen and Abdullah the Butcher in there, but maybe next year (maybe this year too, there is still room!).

Read it and weep, fella

That's a pretty good list so far, but why did they announce their biggest name (Austin) first this year?

The fun will be in seeing who inducts them. I'd personally love for The Rock to induct Austin and for Flair to induct Steamboat. And it's a real shame, because there's only one person who can induct Terry Funk and he's working for TNA.

When did Tommy Dreamer start working for TNA?

Jim Ross is a mortal lock to induct Austin.

Actually, from everything I've read, he's inducting Watts.

Maybe they were afraid of slow ticket sales if they didn't?

I was thinking Dennis Stamp of "Beyond the Mat" fame. He's probably still jumping up and down on his trampoline, waiting to be booked for Wrestlemania.

It would be fitting for Vince be the person on the stage to induct Austin in the Hall of Fame.

Steamboat: Flair
Funks: Dusty
Watts: Ross

They held a pre-sale for Hall of Fame tickets and they didn't sell well, so they announced Austin and then held a second pre-sale. I believe they nearly sold out.

As for the list of Hall of Famers, that was in today's Figure Four Weekly but I don't think any of it should be considered official until it gets announced on TV.

In fact, a list like this is almost guaranteed to have a few changes in it once WWE sees the list. :)

Tommy inducting Terry would be good since he will probably be the one facing Swagger at Mania and its a good bump for him. I heard Hayes was inducting the Von Erich family. As it stands I am more pysched for the Hall of Fame then Wrestlemania.

I guess there's still time, but I'm a bit surprised that the Million Dollar Man didn't make the list this year. I kind of figured he'd get in to further the Legacy angle of 'sons of Hall-of-Famers,' and since Dibiase is a lock to be inducted sooner or later, it might as well be now.

I predict a brawl if Hayes inducts the Von Erichs. It's just bound to happen.

Why isn't Bob Backlund in the HoF yet? He's way overdue.

Backlund turned down the HOF in 2004. They'll probably ask him again next time Mania is in MSG (XXX).

Speaking of people waiting to get in, how much longer do we have to wait for Arn & Tully?

I mean they were only 1/2 of the greatest faction in the history of wresting.

Until a year when Ric Flair isn't inducting someone else. He's a lock to speak for Steamboat this year.

And, though the back few years of his career were nothing to write home about, Barry Windham has a stronger argument for induction than some who have entered the Hall of Fame in the past.

Color me unsurprised. They used her what, twice? And then she disappeared from TV. Besides, I've heard she's ridiculously hard to work with.
