| #3 Posted on 6.1.02 1635.27 | I'm probably gonna check it out.
Anyone know what kind of matches or wrestlers I'd get to see tonight if I did? I checked around but the only list of matches I could find seemed like it was a little off.
Unless of course the WWA wants Jarrett to wrestle three different matches in the same night...

| #4 Posted on 6.1.02 1642.24 | For $19.95 it's not a bad cost considering that it does have some names on the card (Jarrett, Hart, Road Dogg). I mean, it's not going to be Heroes of Wrestling.
BYW, in the promos for the PPV they show Juvy WITH HIS MASK! I thought that if a luchadore loses his mask it's gone for good. Is there some secret Mexican law that allows him to reclaim it? Or is he so hopped up on groovy pills that he forgot that it's not 1997 anymore?

| #7 Posted on 6.1.02 1856.57 | Now I don't know what to think. I just saw a commercial on the TV Guide Channel that said I could look forward to an elimination tournament featuring...
Jerry Lawler vs. Stevie Ray
Jeff Jarrett vs. Road Dogg
and Juventud vs. Buff Bagwell
What the hell is going on with this PPV. I thought it was something live, that's what they taped in Austrailia a few months ago...

It is the Australia show. It's finally making it's way here to North America. Just like the iGeneration show with Hennig vs. Rodman.
Okay, now I'm getting a bad feeling about it.

I kinda slept through it (oops) but I'll probably pick up the Tuesday replay. Don't expect a recap outta ME, though. ;-) I'm more interested in putting it away in the tape archives right next to i-Generation and Heroes of Wrestling.

| #12 Posted on 7.1.02 0056.54 | Instant Rating: 0.00 | Things I could have spent $19.95 on instead of this crap.
2/3s of a WWF PPV. (What?) A nice pot roast with all the fixin's. (What?) 5 movie PPVs on digital cable. (What?) Another viewing of Lord of the Rings on Chinook Theatre's IMAX screen (what?), with pop (what?), popcorn (what?) and sour kids. (What?) 3 or 4 good books at my local used book store. (What?)
Jesus, what an overbooked mess. Vince Russo may not be allowed to officially book the WWA due to his contract with Turner, but his fingerprints were all over this steaming pile. My roommate and I were sitting there booking a better PPV than this with their exact roster. Its fucking professional wrestling ... how do they screw it up so bad? Going in I thought it couldn't be worse than, say, my bargain bin copies of Uncensored '98 or Road Wild, right? Riiigggght.
This show does have one redeeming quality though ... it makes me appreciate the WWF and their professionalism again, even including (shudder) the Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club. It brings back memories of 1998-2001 all over again -- the WCW always made the WWF look so good in comparison.
Edit: I still respected and admired Bret Hart up until 30 minutes ago. But to be associated with this Mickey Mouse organization -- for what? The money? The prestige? To dredge up (SPOILER!!!) the Montreal screwjob, hell why not, one more time? That is a taste in my mouth that is harder to wash out than the bad wrestling, screwy finishes, ref bumps, not-Nitro girls on PPV, guys in banana suits taking worthless suicidal bumps ... actually no, the whole thing tastes pretty bad. But dammit Bret is a millionaire -- he doesn't have to drag himself down like this at the end of his career. I want to remember the good things about him, but it's getting tougher. Bah.
Past hills of chambermaids' dark bare arms and fields of muscles quilted to the bone, Right now I'm flying over, yeah right now I'm flying home.

| #13 Posted on 7.1.02 0253.02 | Oh man, worst of both worlds. Not only didn't I get to see this yet, but I paid for tomorrow's 8 pm viewing and so I'm out the $20 for nothing as of yet...
I guess I'll tape it.
That's what I get for not really reading the guide and assuming that the 6 and 8 pm showings listed were both for the same day.
If I recap it, expect to get very few move names, maybe match lengths, and I will be watching it on Tues (watching RAW tomorrow night of course).
There's probably already a review of this tape somewhere if its that old, yeah?

| #14 Posted on 7.1.02 0652.09 | The biggest redeeming quality was that it wasn't the WWF, meaning that it was nice to see some different faces on TV. Beyond that the show was grossly overbooked and a mess overall.
Juvie just wore a mask down to the ring, but not during the match. And I guess Psicosis can call himself that when not in Mexico. Both guys have looked real good in CMLL lately and a straight up match would have been a lot better, but what can you do?
A little about the ending (spoiler space ahoy!) . . . . . . . . I was confused...first Borash said that Bret wouldn't count pinfalls because both men cheated (Jarrett with a guitar shot, Dogg with a low blow). Then five seconds later Borash goes on about how Bret's jealous and wishes that he was in the ring. Is it that hard to maintain motivation conisistently for more than a minute?

I just want to know where the pinfall count came from. Both refs were down in the ring. Did that disturbing camera guy in the cage count the pin?

| #18 Posted on 7.1.02 0748.19 | Spoilers not withstanding, I have gotten to read a few folks opinion about this PPV and I gotta say that while I was trying to be actively optimistic about WWA as possible eventual competetion for the WWF, it looks like they are getting off to a rocky start. I didn't know this show was going to be the Austrailia show again. Who's great idea was it to start a promotion by having their world premeir PPV be two month old matches? sheesh

| #19 Posted on 7.1.02 1308.48 | Here is a Top 10 list of things i noticed about the WWA PPV. (in no specific order)
1. Konnan is still out of shape 2. Norman Smiley still makes me LOL 3. Vampire gimmicks are still cool 4. Buff sucks worse that a $10 'ho 5. Jeff Jarret can carry a match w/ anyone.(even a 7' statue) 6. Jermy Borash should stick to the internet 7.Stevie Ray is jelous of Booker. Fruitbooty!!! 8. Lucha masks rock 9. I'm pretty sure piped-in sound should fade out, not stop aburptly. (it souded likee someone stopping a record with thier hands) 10. Things can actually be worse that the old WCW
I'm sure theres more (like Brett Hart is still acting like bicth) but I kept switching back ond forth between the football game. Which shows you how much the PPV held my attention.

| #20 Posted on 7.1.02 2016.12 | That fact that Vince Russo's little brother booked the show made me fearful.
Then, the Keither's review got me all jammed up enough to want to see the replay.
Now reading this newsboard has made me skeptical.
InDemand is showing a replay I can see, tomorrow @ midnight. Screw it, it's 20 bucks, right? If I were to the bar after work for wings and a (couple) pitchers and a (couple) shots, that'd be $20, too, right?
Jarrett & Road Dogg... it's the blowoff to a seven year feud, and I likes a good bladejob, so what the hey...
