First of all, the Internet Wrestling Syndicate has a big show - Know Your Enemies - this Saturday, March 27th at the Medley in downtown Montreal, 1170 St-Denis. Tickets are $17 at the door. We will be accepting donations of used clothing to help Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Montreal.
Just as background, the IWS has a deal with a bar in Saint-Laurent called Unison Bar & Billiard to do shows there. We have been negotiating with the Borough of Ville Saint-Laurent since December to let us run shows there on a regular basis. We were able to hold one show in January as an exception, but since then the borough has been blocking future shows. The excuse is that the barís license does not permit wrestling shows, but it doesnít forbid it either. In fact Unison puts on many different events which arenít mentioned in their license (concerts, dances, bike shows), but the borough has never objected to those events.
I consider the actions of the borough of Saint-Laurent to be discriminatory, unfair and a free speech violation. I also believe that in this matter that the councillors of Saint-Laurent are acting as art critics and censors rather than borough councillors. That is just my opinion mind you, and I am trying (very hard) to be non-confrontational about it.
The owner of Unison and the IWS have been trying to negotiate quietly with the Borough since December. Since that obviously isnít working, on Tuesday I will be going to the monthly open council meeting along with the IWS announcer Brian (the Guppie) Stolovitch. I would like to bring along a petition with as many signatures as possible. If you are coming to our show on Saturday, please sign the petition in person. Otherwise, our petition is on-line here: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/IWS1/petition.html
As a thank you for the support that the IWS has always enjoyed all over the world, we are dropping the prices on all of our DVDs. Our normal price is $21.95 (US). Until April 14th, you can get them on our web-site for only $15.99 (US).

Also, if we get ten sales from this site, I'll send Guru a free IWS DVD.

I loved the column, best thing I've read in a while. Reminds me of going to a Wrestlemania party and listening to what a lot of other fans have got to say. It is also true that these are the people the WWE needs to program to.
