| #1 Posted on 2.11.02 1418.37 | - WRESTLER 'MOOSE' CHOLAK DEAD AT 72: Edward "Moose" Cholak, a professional wrestler for 40 years whose weight reached 450 pounds, has died at age 72. Cholak, a tackle at Wisconsin from 1949-50, died Thursday at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond, Ind., according to Kompare Funeral Home. Cholak boxed and wrestled while in the Navy and was spotted by another wrestler who encouraged him to turn pro. Cholak wrestled in 8,000 matches from 1953-87 and was the International Wrestling Association champion in 1963. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, a daughter, and a son.
