The show did lean well toward the "entertainment" and away from the "wrestling", but that's not new. You can certainly criticize them for balancing the product like they do, but I'm not sure you can be surprised about it anymore.
They built Wrestlemania 14 around Mike Tyson being the big star at the show. Yea Rock's "excuse" for being there was that he was the host, but they had a month to officially make it where he's only there for Cena/Miz, which was pretty much the case anyways from where his story has gone.
The difference is that with Tyson, they were able to showcase what they did best and had a strong product to keep some of the people who paid for the PPV around. What they did Sunday? I don't think they accomplished anything.
Every single thing this company has done outside of wrestling has been a total and abysmal failure. Bodybuilding, XFL, movie production, etc. The only thing they have that's a success is wrestling, and now they've decided to get rid of that and work towards making it "entertainment"? It just seems like they're completely clueless. This is an old discussion as they've been pushing for this for a while, but man did they drop the ball on this show.
WM14 had one great match with Austin/HBK and a decent one with Outlaws vs. Foley/Funk. It had a lot of Attidue Era stuff, but not great matches. Granted, they did a lot more with the main event at 14 then they did here, but WM 14 had a hot build for Austin, Miz/Cena has been ice cold. I agree Rock should have done more stuff as the guest host prior to Mania, but in the end he did restart a match that had a terrible ending and made it a better ending. If Rock wasn't there during, I could actually see them going with the no contest ending for Mania since it would have been a shock while keeping heat on Cena and Miz. I don't disagree with you on your entertainment rant that is pretty much dead on. Rock helped Mania more then he hurt it. Even with Rock, I felt this was going to be a weak Mania if they didn't have him, I would say it would be one of the worst of all time.

When looked at in a vacuum, Miz' win at WM27 was fluky and cheap. But on RAW, he was put over by Cena and positioned strong in a segment with Stone Cold. I wonder if this is Vince really, truly giving the ball to Miz. He needs a strong foil, though, like Vince was to Austin.

I was disappointed with the 8-man tag, not because of how short it was, but because there was no big spot between Show and Zeke. I thought the key buildup was a showdown between the two monsters.

To quote the Miz: "Really?"
I think shitting all over the paying fans by ending Wrestlemania with a double countout would be the quickest way to transfer all heat from Cena/Miz and put it straight on the WWE as a company. It would be like if a wrestling promotion had a main event PPV that only went 1:29. It would be ridiculous.
And yea the 8-man was really built up to be about Big Show vs Zeke and then they didn't even do anything with it. Weird. | J. Kyle

I wish wish wish that was Daniel Bryan. It would only help improve Miz in the ring and Bryan on the mic, would be wrestling versus sports entertainment, and twelve kinds of awesome.

The match would probably go on longer and then the double count out. And its not the first time they would piss off the fans to end Mania. It would be for a rematch at extreme rules. I also don't see the WWE giving fans free access to WWE 24/7 if they did it either.

A bad booking decision at the end of a match is different from no match because your challenger is out of his gourd on drugs. And you were doing so well avoiding these weird passive-aggressive cheapshots recently, too. | Tribal Prophet

Two of the major fan “tourist” spots at Mania were Abdullah the Butcher’s restaurant and the former home of Chris Benoit.
