Punk vs. Taker was awesome. I also liked D-Bryan getting his Mania moment. The rest was pretty boring.

A few questions I have:

Where did all that missing time go, and why???

Who was responsible for the timing? (I hope he gets fired)

Who books Ryback's matches? (I hope he gets fired as well)

Agreed. Del Rio should turn meta-heel and join Zeb because he clearly loves America more than Silent Swagger.

I think I'd rank this WrestleMania somewhere around WrestleMania 15, and probably put it above it.

WrestleMania 15 was a pretty straightforward card with no real surprises and a main event that delivered an ending that was set up well in advance and committed to the whole way (coincidentally, both were about the top star regaining the WWE Title from The Rock). It was predictable, it had a match that didn't go over quite so well with the crowd (Taker/Bossman for 15, HHH/Lesnar for 29).

But, WM15's best match was the main event while WM29's was the Undertaker match, and WM15 had nothing as good as Taker/Punk on it, so that might give it the edge.

Definitely not a bottom-level WrestleMania, but one that wasn't a game changer either. Outside of having the second-biggest North American WWE attendance ever. Maybe even the biggest if you consider WM3's numbers doctored.

I had a good time at my first live WrestleMania.

The best part was being among so many fans that are as into it as you are. I really loved the whole Comic-Con vibe, with so many people dressing as their favorite character-especially at Axxess. Where else are you going to see someone rocking a Savio Vega t-shirt? I don't get the replica belt thing, as it would seem to be a pain to carry around all day.

It was actually raining during the Miz/Barrett match and I'm so glad that held off. Could have been a miserable four hours.

I could feel the heat from the fire during UT's entrance all the way across the stadium. I could also hear conversations in other sections of the stadium during the HHH-Brock match. It was THAT quiet.

I think people were bummed about the ending. Fans were waiting for a heel turn, run-in, or something.

Most people would say that there were too many matches on the card to have Ton of Funk/Rhodes Scholars. I say it's karma for you putting on the lame lucky dog option on fantasy NASCAR. --

That said, I kind of agree with you. Not that I'm a huge Brodus Clay fan (though I do like him), but the second half of the PPV really needed that match, even if it only was for a couple of minutes. From Del Rio/Swagger all the way to the end (I want to say about the last 2 hours), it was one big match after another and even where I was watching everyone was getting restless by the time Rock/Cena came on. It would had help break up the mood a bit and added some levity if it came on say between Punk/UT and HHH/Brock, a fun little segement or a snack-bathroom break depending on where you stand before dealing with another 'epic' match.

As it was, I like the PPV; it just felt like it went a little too long without any fun spots at times. If you watch the matches separately, I really don't think there were any really bad matches on the card at all, except maybe Henry/Ryback. Not that it was awful, it just a little boring of a match to watch. Every other one look pretty decent to watch as long as you weren't worn out by the end. It just that I really don't see any 'Wrestlemania moments' that we'll be talking about 5-10 years down the line except for maybe the Punk/UT match.

I give it a thumbs up. Maybe not one of the all time greatest Wrestlemanias but to me it was a thoroughly entertaining PPV that I think with time will look better than it does now.

I do not understand this outcry over there no 8 person match. Was it the tweet pic that did it? Is there more love for the Bellas around here than I realized? I like Rhodes and Sandow but not seeing them look like buffoons against two talentless hacks is preferable to having them on the card just to have them there.

The 8-person tag would have served as a buffer between UT/Punk & the lesser two main events. It gives the crowd a chance to breathe, reset a bit and be able to enjoy the the last two matches a bit more.

It baffles me that in the 90 minutes remaining after the Punk/UT match that they didn't have enough time for a decompression match/backstage skit.

1) Yes, the Bellas are awesome.

2) All the people in the match got their WM payday taken away from them so that the WWE could cram the show full of useless promos for a PPV we already ordered, and more useless promos of them showing how GREAT the WWE thinks the WWE is.

It's also true that it would have served as a good buffer match. I'm not sure Triple H/Brock Lesnar would have gotten the crowd behind them, buffer match or not, but it might have given them a chance.

I bet they'll still get paid, but the match getting bumped is a bit of a microcosm of what I saw overall as a greater problem which really detracted from the (for lack of a better word) "WrestleMania-ness" of the show:

  • No "America the Beautiful" - I mean, this is inexcusable and you'd THINK a no-brainer that you gotta have this. You can't be behind on time AS SOON AS THE SHOW STARTS. (This is a great place to put a celebrity without getting boos, by the way)

  • Hell, no national anthem at all, while we're at it. Gives the impression that it only matters when someone's running for office or we just had a terrorist attack - are they too worried that it comes off too "sports..." or something else?

  • Very little historical looks back - there was an opener, but even that was buried by a previously-airing opener of Gov. Chris Christie talking about Sandy - quite weird having two consecutive bits (AND a Michael Cole voiceover inbetween, so make it three) all welcoming us to WrestleMania

  • No outlandish celebrity involvement - yes, having Snooki in a match, or Maria Menounos, or the Miller Light catfight girls is actually a component of "WrestleMania-ness" as much as people complaining about said component's presence on the card for a month beforehand is

  • I give them a pass on the Special Olympics thing because apparently they really needed to cart Christie out there - I have no idea WHY, but...

  • Shocking lack of spectacular entrances - just adding outdoor fireworks to a regular entrance on a supremely long aisle isn't special. It's not WrestleMania. I think Fandango got one, and....I don't know, MAYBE you could call Triple H's rejected-by-Iron Maiden gateway. I didn't think Take's entrance was special at all, but you could counterargue that just having him on the card at all is special enough.

  • I'm sorry, but crowds suck in the 2010s. During the first match, ever cut to the hard camera was like some kind of cue for hundreds of idiots to hold up their signs and ignore what was going on in the ring. This doesn't necessarily fit into my argument, but with WrestleMania it seems amplified and I needed to bitch about this. (I'll say more about crowd chants in the future, I'm sure.)

  • I know it doesn't happen every year, but there SHOULD be something to shake up and shock the fanbase. There are several dozen superstars on the roster - surely you can find ONE and write something unexpected for them to do.

I mean, they want $60-70 for the privilege of viewing this thing - folks around the world spend hundreds or thousands of dollars (or the equivalent thereof) - it IS the little things which can turn a thumb up or down. Now, do they matter more than match outcomes? It probably depends what kind of a fan you are. For the folks who are WWE fans one day out of the year, I'm not so sure there was a lot for them this time. And I'm not asking for the show to be 100% planned out for the casual fans, but I AM asking for a little more than NOTHIN'.

(On the plus side, Twitter mentions were down and I don't think they mentioned the App once, which will make the Blu-ray a much better time capsule. You know...I'm going all over the place here...I'll stop now)

Dude, you'll thank me if you forget to make your pics one week or pick Mark Martin on one of his off weeks and completely forget about it.

Ow...but the best/saddest part is Antonio Cesaro dressed in his gear patiently waiting despite not being booked for the show. I've always wondered, is it some code that all the wrestlers have to be dressed in their gear just in case?

At Axxess, the WWE title and US Championship were on display, then a little later they weren't. I was thinking we might see Cesaro after all.

If you'd have told me growing up that the IC title match was a pre-show freebie I would have, um something something.

I know VKM thought he was being clever by having a simple Cena win, and saw it as maybe his last chance to troll the smart fans before he hands over the reigns to HHH.

Now, when it comes to 'ways for cena to win clean', what they went with was the least worst option, in my book. Rock beat Cena, Cena beat Rock, at the very least they end this as equals. Just be glad Vince didn't *really* fuck with you and have The Rock tap out.

But you really feel they've missed a great opportunity here to do something different with Cena. Have him win via pulled tights after a distraction from Big Jonny, have it look like Cena didn't know Big Jonny was coming down, just something, ANYTHING other than what we got.

I really feel it's time to tune out of WWE for a while.

I don't think anyone could compete with The Rock for mainstream exposure. Virtually everyone else would look C-list. If I was an agent, I wouldn't let that happen to my client. And the celebs desperate to take an eclipsed Mania role are probably not the caliber Vince wants.
