Me too. What kind of a "Show Off" is he now? Why would you even want to be World Champion AFTER WrestleMania? Don't you want to cash in on the grandest stage of them all? Makes negative sense.

It really is amazing how you know - just KNOW - The Undertaker is going to win, but he makes you believe that he can lose when there's so much on the line. I was really impressed by this match and it really had me going that CM Punk was going to do it. When he hit Undertaker with the urn, I thought that was it, but ultimately, they went with the right ending.

I thought Rock/Cena II was really good. Not the greatest match ever or anything, but it really impressed me how they exhausted every single possibility for a finish. I loved the spot where Cena almost did the People's Elbow again, but it was a fakeout, then The Rock almost did Cena's finish, but it was a fakeout. The ending could have been stronger, and the first part could have been better, but I thought they played off of last year really well and ultimately delivered a better match. I had no problems with it at all, story wise. Only minor notes.

I'm hoping it's over now, because that seemed to be a great finish to what they started 2 years ago. And, yeah, I even really liked the sappy post-match.

Lesnar/HHH was boring and they just ripped off the finish from Cena/Lesnar. Not into it. If any of the big matches needed an upset, it was this one. The Lesnar tapping spots were really well done, but then they should have had him win. At least it was by pinfall, I guess.

Jericho/Fandango was entertaining, The Shield winning I guess helps everyone, Miz as IC Champ is good, no 8-man sucked.

I have NO idea what they're thinking with both Ziggler and Ryback, though. I'm not personally attached to Ryback (who looked like Ninja Turtle Raphael tonight) so who cares, but Ziggler deserves better.

Overall, I really liked this year's WrestleMania. Top of the card (except HHH/Lesnar) was stronger than the bottom, but I think that's the way it should be.

Of course, my initial impressions of WM27 were that I liked it, and now I think it's one of the bottom 3 WrestleManias (down there with 9 and 11), but time will be the ultimate judge. Going by main events solely, though, this was the best of the last 3 WrestleMania main events.

If you were wondering about crowd reactions. Fandango got heat for winning, HHH/Lesnar was the beer match and the main event handshake got a negative response. Cena did get a pop for winning, but minus Fandango, so did everyone who win. Also, eerie silence for the crossface. If I was not there live, I would shit on this, but the crowd saved it for me for all the matches especially Punk/Taker. Probably the singles match I seen live. A fan said it best as we left for the train, there was a pawl over the crowd where everyone knew Cena was going to win and for some fans it was nice, but for the rest of us, it was a pretty disappointing way to end a fairly good night.

For those whining about The Shield being in the opening match, I direct you to this commentary by Lance Storm talking about how, if he isn't in the main event, going on first is the best position on the card.

I'm pretty sure by "reminds me of Benoit" he meant the whole brain damage causing him to brutally kill his family thing, not the "Hurt their necks" reference to Race and Benoit.

Shocked that Ryback lost. Also don't really see the point in Fandango winning if it's by a fluke. Kinda defeats the purpose of giving the guy a win as a way of building credibility.

I love Brock in his role, but God this match just dragged on and on. When this and the main event just.... kept........ going.......... all I could think about was how rushed the first 4-5 matches were to make time for the plodding.

Undertaker and Punk definitely stole the show. I always thought it would, but I didn't think it would be a slam-dunk like it was. The Walking Dead entrance was a great idea. My girlfriend's first reaction was that Punk probably came up with it after being on Talking Dead.

I'm pissed about the Bellas. :(

Thank you so much for sharing this. The girls are HUGE fans of Rhodes Scholars, and loved seeing this picture.

We had a blast watching up to Del Rio/Swagger. Even the lovely Mrs. whatever got into the action. Some general reactions for what we saw:

OWOWOWOWOWOWOW Seth Rollins, that is not how you want to land a dive to the outside. Great wipeout spear by Big Show. I had a lot of explaining to do as to the his reaction post-match.

LOL Mark Henry won by being fat and strong. Ryback looked like he hurt his right arm on that last ShellShock. His facial expression right after was crazy.

It looked like Ziggler missed on the Fameasser on Kane, like he just slid over Kane's head, but Kane sold it anyway.

Fandango's entrance went over like hotcakes with the girls, but they really, really were hoping for the giant Fandango pyro in the ring. Gotta agree that Curtis sure seemed to play the part of the broom in the match.

Still pissed that they did not have Tons of Funadactyls / Bella Rhodes Scholars. Oh well.

really underwhelmed by this show ... I'm not asking to have shocking moment after shocking moment happen, but at least give me ONE thing ...

Paul Heyman is just gold ... he plays his role as well as anyone ever ... which is why the Sweet Chin Music he took was all the more sweet.

If I'm a Brock Lesnar opponent, I just get him in a No DQ match, wait until he puts the steel steps in the ring, and hit him with my finisher on them. Worked for Cena and HHH.

That said, it was a lot of fun being there live, despite the little bit of rain at the beginning and the wind. Not as great as WrestleMania 20, but hopefully this main event won't make me feel uncomfortable watching the DVD in 10 years.

My favorite match was definitely Punk/Taker, what an awesome story they told. I thought Rock/Cena was boring as hell until they started hitting the finishers. The two callbacks to last year were fantastic though. Didn't see all of HHH/Brock because someone behind me fell over drunk into a mom and her kid...spent most of the match giving a witness report to security. People were also pissed Ziggler didn't cash in, not sure if the boos were heard on TV or if they were in the National Guard video package.

I was also there live, and was thrilled with how the weather turned out.

Mark Henry and Ryback needed more bearhugs.

Great first 2/3rds of the show in my opinion, followed by the last two matches. How they thought going so slow would be a good thing I will never understand. The Lesnar ending was painfully lame. And there was simply no big match feel this year to the main, whereas I feel like Miami nailed that.

Glad the Shield went over, and that was a hot match. And Bryan had a great showing to make up for last year.

Overall I liked it, but man those two main events at the end were brutal. Totally different show.

My biggest gripe? There was NOTHING here that compels me to watch Raw now. Nothing last night made me have to tune in.

I thought it was hilarious watching HHH try to slyly wash all the weird pyro residue off himself by repeatedly dousing himself with water on the torso. I kept thinking, "It's gotta suck wrestling in wet tights."

The matches on this show were pretty good, I'd say, but very predictable. That was the main problem.

Boy, was Rock absolutely BLOWN UP or what? I've never seen someone sweat that much.

Edit: And while I'm bitching about people's appearances, what is up with HBK always looking like he just came from Wal-Mart? I mean, I know he's a rancher and hunter and all that, but this is a pretty big show and he has his jeans tucked into his boots like some redneck moron?

I'm in the exact opposite state. I didn't see the PPV, and I'm eager to see RAW. Presuming we get the Rhodes Scholars match tonight, I'm guessing that kills a ten-man tag match of the Mania undercard.

I'm curious who will wrestle tonight. Taker won't. Rock, Brock, and Hunter won't. Ryback might not be able to. Punk might. Cena might. Everyone else seems a shoo-in. So it could be a trainwreck of a show, and I'm curious who they put against Cena next.

Missed the Shield match.

I really think it's too late for Ryback. Losing at Wrestelmania, even if the audience is less than a third of that for RAW, just screams "doesn't have it". And I say this as a Mark Henry fan. Skip getting his win back at Extreme Rules is like losing at the Superbowl and winning your season opener and saying "There. Redemption."

Liked the tag-team match but I would have gone with Ziggy and Big E. Team Hell No has more than run its course. That being said, felt happy for Danielson getting his moment at the end.

Fandango/Jericho was a waste. If you looked at it through the lens of Jericho fanboyism, I guess you could mindfuck yourself into believing this was actually a good match, but the idea that whatever this was belonged on Wrestlemania is completely ludicrous. This was a Saturday Morning Slam match that got misplaced. And Fandango isn't a star because of it. Again: Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston, and Antonio Cesaro were not on this show so that Jericho could act out his desperate, inexplicable need to job to everyone who ever existed until it means absolutely nothing. And Fandango is a ballroom dancer. Even if it gets over in the short-term, he'll forever be "dude that was a ballroom dancer". It's like Val Venis: the next generation. Pointless garbage.

DID YOU KNOW: Zeb Coulter's racist promo was the first in Wrestlemania history not done by a babyface? Uh...nothing match. The "ADR perfoms fellatio on America" thing needs to stop. Jesus God. Latinos don't want their guy to worship America, and non-Latinos will obviously find it pandering.

Punk/Taker was the MOTN. I'd put it third for Taker Mania matches, behind the first HBK one and the Edge one.

Triple H beating Lesnar was absurd, political garbage that makes no sense for business. Triple H isn't over and has had like ten thousand Wrestlemania moments, it's time for him to stop clogging a spot on the card every year so he can do another of his 3 star the commentators insist is 5 star "classics". Just ugh.

Rock/Cena was okay, but the end sequence went on way too long and was just them doing finishers again and again like they had infinite specials in a video game. I never want to see this match again. Torch passed, thank goodness. Now the perennially overlooked and refreshing John Cena can be presented as the face of the company or something.

You know, I was thinking about this last night. Wasn't part of the story last year that HHH was so beat up he couldn't even show up til SummerSlam? That UT was such a tough guy that HHH could barely walk? How do they keep Punk active now? Or is that maybe where Punk goes now -- that he at least can still wrestle after his epic match, unlike some boss's son we all know.

Wrestlemania XXIX: Why So Serious?

While definitely not a terrible show by any stretch, it was definitely lacking in fun. Cutting the 8-person tag cost the show a sorely-needed moment of levity. This show took itself way too seriously. Only ONE MATCH (Jericho/Fandango) had any kind of lighthearted air to it, but as soon as the awesome entrances were over, they wrestled a straightforward grudge match. Oh, and for all the talk of Jericho carrying Fandango, he's the one that botched the Lionsault finish by overshooting. Nice improv to save. (Even though he had to bend way down for Fandango to grab him.)

The time between matches was filled with self-congratulatory piece after self-congratulatory piece about important social issues. That's nice and all, but we didn't pay you $70 to talk about how great you are. I was BEGGING for a wacky Santino backstage skit at one point just to lighten the mood. (ZERO backstage segments, btw. That's got to be a first.)

That's why I loved the Henry/Ryback finish and the tag title match so much. Henry falling on Ryback was so hilarious that I marked out like crazy at it being the actual finish. And Daniel Bryan, my personal Wrestlemania MVP, brought so much balls-out energy to the 6 minutes he was given, that he had 80,000 people (or a good vocal portion of them) eating out of his hand at the end.

Diddy didn't need to be there, but at least it gave me an opportunity to make this joke:

Punk/Undertaker was indeed awesome and I loved every minute of it. I desperately wanted Punk to win, and believed he would a few times, so that's all you can ask for.

Cena/Rock was even more boring than last year, with only one or two neat little moments. (I wonder if some planned grander entrances were cut for time, too.) I'm left thinking about an alternate reality WWE where Rock lost to Punk twice and Cena/Punk had that awesome Raw match as the main event of Wrestlemania. That would have been pretty cool. Hell, Rock could have even tried to show he still "had it" in wrestling by trying to end The Streak.

But I had fun watching with family and friends. It still had a big event feel, as it should have. Just lighten it up a bit next time. If they can't put on a party atmosphere in New Orleans, then there's no hope.

I woke up today with a seven year grudge rekindled -- "oh, but they couldn't cut Candice Michelle vs. Torrie in a lingerie pillow fight so Rey, Angle, and Orton could go more than 9 minutes?"

Obligatory annual "this is where they miss MITB" post -- not only was it the only undercard match that was immune from being shortchanged, the identity of the next briefcasesman always gave you an additional intriguing thing to talk about coming out of the show. Of course, ever since they've gotten especially hapless with the time, there are actually three Wrestlemania undercards: Mania itself, Raw the night after Wrestlemania where they put the cut matches on, and Backlash/XRules where they give everyone more time.

Yeah, we'll have to see if anything happens tonight. Although I think it's the kind of thing that belongs in the spotlight and memory-making machine of Wrestlemania, I'd buy an argument that him doing it on Raw lets it stand on its own and be the biggest story of the biggest Raw when new stuff needs to happen. And with the post-WM Raw crowd, the reaction to a Ziggler cash-in would rival the YES! and Brock stuff from last year.

Failing that ... I shall complain in earnest.

That was awesome, but it was disappointing to ultimately find out that he'd been sprayed by that steam gunk instead of my hope -- that he was halfway through shaving his chest when they told him the Bellas match was cut and he was on.

Yeah, normally I want them to cut the wacky Mania skits for time, but between the card allocation and the PR videos, I ended up really missing them. I wanted to see Brad Maddox, Cesaro, 3MB, Santino, Prime Time Players, Ryder ... someone, anyone, to be said "Damn" to.

Did everyone else get the 300 some different Cena redemption videos are was that just for the live crowd? The countdown clock was at an hour, so they realistically could have done the 8 person tag and even a U.S. title match instead of the pre-game ESPN Monday Night Football crew which was just stupid. Have them do it live on the stage or something. The crowd was popping for JR, Kofi and Dusty.

I think they might have called an audible more than once because of their shitty time management. They barely managed to get the ring steps out of the way in time as Swagger and Zeb were driving around the ring, making me think the original plan was for a full entrance. Also, I wonder if Jericho/Fandango went longer than planned, because they were setting up for Diddy during that match, and that took a long time.

I have no issues with the crowd reactions. We were hot all night. Meltzer seemed to think the crowd didn't react well for the Shell Shock. Maybe it came across subdued on TV, but the place exploded when Ryback got Henry up. It was legit one of the loudest pops of the night.

80K people chanting Yes! that loud during Hell No's entrance was awesome to experience.

Taker and Punk was really special live. Crowd was truly split. Most awesome thing was the attempt at doing Boo!/Yay! on the punches. Every punch was Booay! Taker's entrance left me breathless for a couple seconds.

Lesnar/HHH was boring as hell live. Thought maybe it played better on TV, but it doesn't sound like it reading through the thread. We were dead for most of the match but popped at the high spots. Biggest pop by far was HBK superkicking Heyman. Funny thing is, no Boring chants here, as opposed to Ryback/Henry and Cena/Rock.

Main event was very good and told an excellent story. An appreciable part of the crowd was pro-Cena, and I ain't talking kids and womenfolk. Captain Hindsight wonders if we needed to wait a whole other year for this. Could they have made more money overall by doing this at Summerslam '12?

I'd give the show overall a 6 or 7 out of 10: a three-match show, and two delivered.

That is pretty weird. I thought it was just a matter of the live crowd not getting to see the backstage stuff, but I guess not.
