My take on the portions that I saw... (The sports restaurant we were going to was beyond packed, so we doubled back to a friend's house and ordered it there. I missed Cena-Show as a result, and left during Undertaker's entance because my wife and I needed sleep.)

THE GOOD:
* Christian / Jericho was watchable. The Trish turn doesn't make much sense to me, but I won't pass judgement on it until they develop it a bit more.

* Evolution / Rock & Sock ended as it probably should've, since somehow I doubt that Foley'll be back to full-time status. Foley threw Linda McMahon-level punches, but he's Foley so he can get away with it. Pretty good comedy match.

* Cruiserweight gauntlet was too short, but had some fun spots. Who greased Ultimo's boots? Still, his flipping reverse DDT was triple-sweet. Noble came to play.

* Guerrero / Angle worried me at first, figuring that the crowd would turn on their slow buildup after the Lesnar / Goldberg atrocity. Thankfully, they didn't. Decent match, if not a classic, and the ending was entertaining. (The "Oh, SHIT" from Guerrero that set up the finish was priceless.)

* Didn't see the main event, but any match where HHH taps to Benoit can't be bad.

* Rosey's "Burger? What burger?" take was cute.

THE BLAH:

* Both tag-team tourneys were Hal Gurnee Network Time Killers.

* Victoria / Molly was a decent (if short) women's match. They handled the shaving well (let Victoria shave a few locks for the camera, then cut away and let a pro do the close-to-the-skin parts, so that she didn't get scalped ala Ice Cold). Still, how anyone with a Y-chromosome can cheer about Molly's plight is beyond me. Oh, well.

THE BAD:

* The opening of the Battle of the Undead Monsters impressed me so much that I went home. Paul Bearer ate a cruiserweight.

* Jesse Ventura rambling about presidential wrestlers? Donald Trump getting mic time? Get the hell out of here.

* Goldberg / Lesnar was pathetic. Maybe my New Japan Heavyweight Style Appreciation DNA isn't asserting itself, but it looked like two galoots who'd both forgotten most of the script and were trying to ad-lib something. This killed the room where we were at, and between this match, the Boobies Invitational and the Rikishi/Hotty 4-way, the middle of the card was a dead zone. At least it was fun watching Austin doing everything he could to vanish during the match itself.

* When Vince has to come out and suck up to the crowd, you KNOW the previous match was a stinker. Hoo boy.

* There were four people in the Playboy match. I'm not sure why three of them have jobs. (Jackie is... well, Jackie. Torrie and Sable can't wrestle and certainly can't talk, and the magazines are right there for anyone interested in their other qualifications.) They hit the exact same spots that every other Stacy-Torrie match has had.

Something that occured to me this morning, where was Paul Heyman? Bischoff got that throwaway "find the Undertaker" moment and that led to nothing more than a segway for Coach to wander around backstage, but nothing out of Paul E? I wonder if there was supposed to be something and it got replaced by Vince's thank you speech.

I caught the show in scramble-vision, and from what I can gather from various boards and from "watching", it wasn't worth my $50. I'll definitely pick up the DVD, though.

--Benoit winning = awesome. The crowd was way into him, and Benoit getting the clean submission on HHH (!) put a huge smile on my face. Benoit & Eddy post-match sounds like a great visual. Good job to everyone involved, but let's see how he's booked as champ.

--Eddy/Angle sounds very good/great, too.

--Jericho/Christian sounds good, as well.

But other than that, there wasn't much else that sounded good to me. Everything else sounded too rushed, or just flat out not good (Kane/Taker).

The ending made the show for me. And I'm not even a big uber Benoit fan, great finish especially the roll that put Triple H in the middle of the ring. It got applause from everyone at my place watching the show. Another spot I liked from that match was when Triple H stopped HBK from tapping. Pretty creative spot I thought, but I'm sure it was taken from somewhere.

LOVED the Eddy finish.

Our only real complaint was the hybrid taker outfit....I was actually hoping for his Ministry of Darkness/Foley Hell in the Cell era outfit: the long leather coat lots of gothic looking straps, the long black tights and the shirt with straps, etc. And MAYBE a little pale make-up?

He's a dead man with a tan. Hmm.

But overall pretty good show!

"They DEFINITELY weren't watching the match. Okay, let's get this straight. You paid $50 to see a PPV, four beautiful women were rolling around wearing nothing but bra and panties and YOU WENT OUT OF YOUR WAY not to watch it, even though you already paid $50 for it. And this proves what?"

Well, that they could have easily spent that 50 dollars on a few pay per porn flicks, and got the real deal...sort of. I went out for a smoke by the way.

Great card, historically I don't want to put it into context quite yet, but it will go up there as one of the greats. Not the best, but up there.

My biggest complaint was the length, I don't want to ever sit through almost 5 hours of wrestling again. 3 is hard enough, but 5! Even with great wrestling, it got to me towards the end.

That said, i'd do again, several times over for that Triple Threat. Eddie and Benoit, the two champs, I still can't fathom the present, as I honestly didn't see Benoit winning that. But he did, and damn, it's good to see the best considered the best.

I liked the show pretty good, the crowd seemed dead thru tv at times but for the more important matches seemed good and hott.
1: Poor molly, the future mrs. Mercer don't have any hair anymore. Oh well, at least Victoria still looks good!
2: Hated the end of the Jericho-Christian match, made no sence what so ever...but DANG! Trish looked good acting crazy.
3: Great pops for the legends, Superstar and Bobby especially. Sarge looked like hes kept his diet going as well which is good, I've never seem him look so skinny.
4: Evolution V Rock&Sock was great, especially Flair grabbing the rock and saying, "I dont think so mother ******!" The Naitch elbow, and the Rock strut, all great. The finish was out of nowhere and Foleys reaction made it that much better.
5: Like him or not you had to feel bad for Brock. I thought he and Goldberg were going to shoot on each other.
6: What was up with taker being the almost dead man, who dresses like terry funk? The cowboy dead man...ok?!?!
7: Angle and Eddy was great. One of the best and most original finishes I've seen in a LOOOONNNNGGG time!
8: Didn't care for either of the tag matches. Especially since WGTT didn't win anything.
9: Yes Ultimo almost pulled a shockmaster...man that would have been funny...match was alright.
10: I marked like crazy for Benoit winning the title. NEver saw it coming, and i told my friend that if he did win, he would most likely beat shawn. Nonetheless, God bless hunter for putting over young talent. Even though I'm pretty sure benoit is a few years older.
Great mania, up in the top three.

I thought to myself that watching this again would probably be easier when the DVD came out, I was in home surroundings and with the knowledge that if I caught myself getting burned out, I could stop the disc.

I have to admit, it was almost a surreal moment watching HHH in the crossface which in my sitting there for 4 hours mixed with a lingering beer buzz and thinking to myself...there's no fucking way I'm seeing what I'm seeing, much less the part where he tapped.

So to sum it up, at first I thought HBK was in the amtch so that HHH didn't have to job the title himself, then I thought that there was no way they did enough groundswell with Benoit to win the title and I would have bet money that the pedigree at the end wasn't going to be reversed.

The lesson as always, I know nothing.

One other thing...is that whne I did my little write-up at 1:30 am last night, the line I should have put in didn't come to me until I went to bed....

"And tomorrow on RAW, Chris Benoit is nowhere to be seen, there's a controversy about HHH's foot being on the rope and the title being held up vacant and a week from now, Chris Benoit will make his debut for NWA-TNA"

I just watched the Triple Threat match again.
DAMN!
I think if you had never watched a second of WWE programming previously, you would still get caught up in the drama of this match. The super hot crowd really helped. Seeing Benoit's face at the end gave the viewer no doubt that something special just happened. At first I was disappointed that Bret didn't come down to congratulate him, but it doesn't matter. Also would have been sweet for Donald Trump to grab a mic and say "Hunter, you're fired".

Miss me? Yeah, same here. I got a new night job, so I don't get to post as much as I usually do. But, that didn't stop me from saying that eight men saved this Wrestlemania: Bobby Heenan, Angle, Eddie, Jericho, Christian, HBK, HHH, and Benoit. After seeing the abortion that was Goldberg-Lesnar, I knew that the last couple of matches will save the sinking ship, and I'm glad to say they did.

Now, I'm not totally against triple threat matches, but they seem to be clusters more often than not. However, the main event was fun, and I admit, as much as I dig HHH, I did chant "TAP!" too. Just seeing Guererro and Benoit with the big titles after remembering them in the Radicalz four years ago--how's THAT for full circle? Good stuff, great ending.

Angle and Eddie was as good as I thought it would be. The ending especially, with the shoe. Christian and Jericho's match was good as well. Like I've said many a time, me and Love Triangle angles don't get along at all. With Trish back as a heel, how long will it be before some of us start mulling the "Slut" paradox again? Hey, I just want to see her wrestle again, she can slut all she wants, just don't stop wrestling, Trish!!

Ultimo Dragon's entrance sums up his time in the WWE perfectly, don't you think? Goldberg-Lesnar? Well, after the way it was hyped coupled with the internet (which turns out to be true after all; bad for wrestling, my ass!), what can I say? I agree with the chants 100%. MSG (and Canadian) crowds are the BEST! Victoria and Molly was another good one, and Molly, I don't care if you're bald, you're still MY hero. Victoria, you're more fun as a psycho bitch, but you still don't suck, so it's all good.

The Hall of Fame thing was good as expected. Wow, Brain lost some weight. Oh well, he still rules more than the King ever will. Speaking of who still rules, the Flair Elbow made me laugh so hard I almost lost my voice. Still on the subject of who still rules, Paul Bearer looked much better than he did on TNA. Good to see him in better shape. So, it's only because of the little things that Wrestlemania XX didn't totally suck, though the Undercard dropped like a rock. But I sure as hell won't call it the best ever, for that honor remains with X7. But it was good.

After a quarter of a century on this planet, there's three things I know for sure...
1)Ain't nothing like a Dirty Pair marathon on New Year's Eve.
2)I'd make a fine Mrs. HHH II.
3) I'd make an acceptable Mrs. Orton.
1400 reasons to luv me!

Great show. I'm glad that HHH tapped. Maybe we won't see those HHH jokes anymore.

Match Of The Night: The triple threat match
Worst match: Goldberg-Lesnar (but the atmosphere was surreal).

It was kinda like the first time I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

While I was watching it, I thought, this SUCKS.

But later, it got better in my mind and I finally decided I actually enjoyed it.

Soon, I will be hailing it as the best EVAR~!

That I'm a woman? Hey, maybe my husband got his money's worth out of it, but I doubt it--the kids were in the room with him. The ten-year-old remarked, "They look silly in their underpants."

Seems to be running about 50-50 on Taker's new look. Probably he plans to tinker with it--he always does, but I am on the pro side already. Whoever said Saint of Killers got it right on the nose. I wouldn't be surprised if Taker was a Preacher fan (and no, the kids don't get to read our comic book collection yet!)

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly:
The Good:
1) Eddy/Angle was awesome. Match of the night for me with a great ending. They can carry this feud out as long as they want!
2) Triple Threat: Great drama, hot ending (HHH TAPS!) & HBK puts on a hell of a show with the blade job & the MOONSAULT from the top to the outside! Surprised no ones mentioned that one.
3) Eddy & Benoit at show's end. WCW! So much for Vince not pushing people he didn't create.
4) Flair's People's Elbow ruled! Not to mention him getting some of the biggest face pops of the night!
5) Jericho/Christian match - thought they both were on their game.
6) Taker & Kane entrances
7) Bobby Heenan
8) Molly's haircut. See Kevin Nash, THAT'S how it's supposed to be.
9)Torrie & Stacy's rolling pin reversals - yowzah!
The Bad:
1) Tag Matches - 4 ways suck
2) No Pete Rose/Kane moment
3) Trish's heel turn - yeah she looks hotter but what's the message? If you want to get the girl, clothesline the heck out of her & put her in a painful submission hold? Curious to see where they go with this tonight.
4) Victoria not getting to break out the Widow's Peak.
The Ugly:
1) Goldberg/Brock - but boy was it fun to watch in a trainwreck way. I truly thought Brock was going to cry too.
2) Ultimo Dragon's entrance - thank you come again
3) Mae Young & Moolah - geez you'd think even Mean Gene could do better
Overall a good one - McMahon amazingly stays out of the limelight. Plus one other note: As a 40+ year old man, Taker's hair could NEVER get back to his old length in the amount of time he's been gone. That was about as good as it's gonna get for him.

-Cena vs. BigShow- This match was actually better then I expected. They also really lucked out to come out first. BigShow actually really impressed here, the standing legdrop and even breaking out the cobra clutch... Cena hits 2 F-U's on BigShow which as impressive. The announcers some what ruin this match with there "Cena's got no chance" so early on in the match. Stop Doing That guys!

-RVD/Booker v. Jindrak/Cade v. Dudleyz v. La Rez- This was another match. There was a decent to good pace to the match. I especially like when the two babyface teams were in there, they clicked well. La Rez looked good in there as well, less said about Team Green the better... Right team won IMO.

-Christian vs. Jericho-The actual match was great, intensity, athleticism, a real & both characters look strong. Y2J was as over as he's ever been, Trish runs out & her pop was louder then any woman in the building(Even more then the TnA participants), LOOK the Trish/Y2J partnership is WORKING. I'd rather of Jericho win, I guess it can't be perfect & it's okay. She attacks Jericho, she hit him with some pretty hard looking forearms they looked tight...

WHAT HAPPENED, the most illogical, insulting, idiotic heel turn. Trish turns on Jericho & NOT JUST THAT but makes out with Christian. WHY THE F*CK do that! 5 MONTHS of build that obviously worked for people wanting to see JeriTrish alliance & they don't give it to us but we get Christian/ Trish! How the hell does that fit into Trish's character of the past 3 years? Is it all of a sudden its year 2000 Trish & everything in the last 3 years forgotten & thrown away. Well F*CK You WWE, F*ck U for wasting my time cause right now I don't give a sh*t about any of these 3. They didn't even allow to see how far JeriTrish can go. I don't mind a heel turn down the road, but dammit make it logical & christsake does she have to resort to going back to slutty character JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER GIRL. Gawd can't they write a decent role for a woman. FU WWE, It'll teach me to ever get into another storyline from this bullsh*t company.

-Orton/Batistia/Flair vs. Rock n Sock Connection- I'll be totally honest there was no way I can give this match any sort of legit rating because I couldn't concentrate on it because of the previous match. It just pissed me off so much that I gave it this my half attention. Flair seemed to be totally on his mark this night, he looked like he was having a ball. Doing the NatureBoy Elbow did put a smile on my face. Foley went hard knees first into the steps. Mr. Socko set up gets stopped short from a quick RKO, pretty good finish. Flair stole the match no doubt the guy has more charisma then his tag partners combined. I couldn't keep my eyes off what Flair is doing, he was always doing something including calling rock a "motherf*cker" HA, yeah that's another word I'd like to call the person who thought of the ending of the previous match. I need to see Rock vs. Flair please, Please, PLEASE!

-Torrie/Sable vs. Gayda/Stacy- I still say is lame, I'm being honest the women in this match don't interest me. Stacy kind of cute but seeing Torrie, Sable and Gayda in there underwear is not interesting, I find them lame, Sable and Torrie give this creepy mom and daughter team, just not my thing, sorry. Add to that Victoria had more revealing outfits during the last month on Raw makes this even bad TnA. Did Sable even do anything or did she waste all her energy speaking?... What great "talents" go away now.

-Chavo v. Rey v. Tajiri v. Kidman v. Noble v. Nunzio v. Funaki v. Ultimo v. Moore v. Akio- The signature of Ultimo WWE career is him slipping at the entrance, was he wearing Trish's insane heels shoes... There was some spectacular spots like Kidman SSP to the outside but they probably should have just kept it to Chavo/Rey/Tajiri and maybe Kidman and keep all the jobbers out of it because the getting pin in a minute time is lame but when the final 4 was in there it got solid and interesting. Wait i thought Chavo had to fight 9 men. Did Chavo Sr. call out of shananagans actually worked! Chavo Sr. is the man, I want him on my side.

-Goldberg vs. Lesner- This match will certainly be remembered and all to do with the fans but unlike the Rock/ Hogan match at WMX8 this was all negative reaction. I've NEVER seen such a hostile crowd for both guys. You sold out, Hey hey goodbye(who they talking too, both) Booing whoever hits a move, Hogan chants, We want Bret chant. Just bizarre... We're these two stinking the ring up on purpose? It looked like when you buy a new wrestling videogame and your friend is try to figure out the controls and looking at the screen you see you the characters just standing still and hitting the same combo moves because you don't know any of the gameplay. That's what this match felt like a bunch of stalling & hitting the same combo of moves during the entire match. Everytime Goldberg goes to spear it got boooed, everytime Lesner did anything it got booed. Surreal! Aftermatch they both get boooed for their efforts

-Rikishi/Scotty v. WGTT v. APA v. Bashams- I'd imagine it would be hard to follow the last match and this match had the unfortunate task to do so and didn't deliver. Nice spot with Scotty skinning the cat as WGTT block it half way and do their leapfrog move on him. But other then that not much. Scotty tried all his cartooonish cheap pop gimmicks but didn't jolt the crowd

-Victoria vs. Molly- I wish this match got over I really did because after Victoria there's only Lita left as a babyface afterwards and how scary is that! I still don't understand this Victoria turn, completely dominates Molly before winning the title then dominate Molly after. What does that do for Molly and even what does it do for Victoria? I know this is Victoria marks central and I'm rooting for her too but she should have had befriended a popular babyface then go for the title instead of "Look my wrestling shorts are revealing". After the match did the Victoria character become more relateable, I didn't think so. I thought it was disturbing having a women head shave it turned into a freak show. Match never really got off the ground unfortunately and unlike the male matches the commentators made no effort to help it out. There was a nice clothesline from the outside from Molly to Victoria

-Eddie vs. Angle- Somewhat interesting Angle comes out same time as Molly is getting shaved as we went through that not so long ago. Very cool "Lets go Angle/Angle Sucks" chants to start... Great action here that Setup for a German from the apron to the outside was scary. Ingenious cheating by Eddie by loosening his boot and having Angle go for the Anklelock just to pull the boot off and get a quick pin.

-Undertaker vs. Kane- Kane IMO had the coolest entrance, the city burning looked great. Okay I admit I marked for the Undertaker entrance set up but then I saw Undertaker and he looked the same, well he did buy a hat but didn't look spooky at all... The match was set up to get all of classic Undertaker stuff in, which made the crowd happy.

-Benoit v. HBK v. HHH- I fully admit I was wrong. Then again I don't think ANYONE saw a complete and total pro Benoit crowd like MSG last night, I couldn't believe the reaction actually booing HBK when he was trying to do the Germans and everytime he faced Benoit. HBK did some cool stuff like jumping from the top onto his opponents on the floor. But Benoit had the crosssface on HHH I was actually screaming "Tap out you fat bastard TAP!" LoL Then Benoit in tears and a proud Eddie coming out. What an amazing moment!... PS what's the deal with the Atlanta Georgia residence now? Considering Benoit been called out from Edmonton since forever and they are going there for a PPV next week, that was dumb of them. Not like NYC has this major love for anything ATL

-OtherStuff- Coach pretends to be Leslie Neilson and goes search for The Undertaker. Just to find Okerland and Heenan making out with Moolah and Mae... Orton has flashback powers ala Wayne's World as the talks down to Foley... Lillian gets a WM spot YAY as she interviews Rock n Sock which put a bit of a smile on my face after the horrible Trish booking just before this... HOF dinner was shown, gawd Terri wants attention. Gene introduces the inductees it got a Slamberee feel to it. it was nice...

Eddie goes into a nervous Benoit lockerroom. Benoit doesn't seem interested in seeing him but Eddie understands but says he believes in him. Nice touch... Vince thanks the fans... Ventura interviews Trump & teases a Presidential run in 2008... Edge promo is shown YAY

-Line of the Night: Flair "How do you like that motherf*cker"- to Rock
-3Stars of the Night: 1)Benoit. 2)Flair. 3)Eddie

Wrestlemania had incredible highs and depressing lows and very little in between. For match quality the first 4 matches and the World/WWE title matches were fabulous. Benoit winning and Eddie coming out was memorable sight... Disappointed in what they did with the women that matter. Victoria/Molly didn't really bring their A-game and seeing Molly bald is not a happy visual. Trish heel turn just so frustrating, the sack of suck that is Lita is still doing her same old thing but Trish has to risk her career by doing a illogical heel turn, freakin stupid. The liner of "Where it all begins.. Again" certainly fit Trish this night

"WHAT HAPPENED, the most illogical, insulting, idiotic heel turn. FU WWE, It'll teach me to ever get into another storyline from this bullsh*t company."

Name me one other active-wrestling woman from the past three years that's turned heel by being a slut. Just saying, is all. I'm warmign to the turn more and more-Trish has been the same like three years now-her streak of dominating the Women's division is HHHesque, Christian needed some legitimisation as a midcard heel and Jericho's going to get over MONSTER as a babyface once he takes out his revenge on the gruesome twosome. Everyone's a winner.

You know, personally, I'd have AT LEAST waited until they tried to explain the Trish turn tonight before crapping all over it, NHS.

And as my fellow Brit just pointed out there, if Trish had stayed with Jericho, Christian would have been headed for the scrap heap. This gives Jericho further motivation, Trish some (in my opinion much needed) character changes, and Christian a chance of remaining somewhere near the top of the card. In short, the turn made perfect sense to me.

There was absolutely no other way they could have done Jericho/Christian last night. It was perfect.

Let me make something clear: professional wrestling is professional wrestling, not Days of our Lives. I couldn't give a fuck about Jericho getting that romantic kiss on Trish at Wrestlemania. I want to see some asskicking and I want to see some vengeance. If Jericho/Trish were together, they'd first be wasting the tremendous charisma of Jericho. I'd understand if they paired Trish with someone like Lance or Scotty to boost them, but Jericho is way too good for any valet. Second, they'd further bore me with Trish's babyface character. And more than that? Christian would mean nothing in this feud, and he would be sent back to Heat to face Test for a year. Now we further enhance Jericho as a babyface, revitalize Trish's career, and make a name out of Christian.

It's called a MALE soap opera for a reason. The angle doesn't end in romance, it ends in the slut teaming with the sleazy heel to beat the vulnerable babyface. Then the babyface will get his revenge, and the fans, who would have given a moderate pop to a Trish/Jericho union, would go absolutely nuts next time Jericho gets his hands on Trish/Christian. I know many of you wanted them to have Jericho/Trish kiss first, and THEN have a heel turn somewhere down the line, but I say blah to that. This has gone on way too long, and it's better to have the final swerve at the biggest stage of them all. We had our happy moments at the event..Benoit, Cena, and Guerrero winning, Rock, Foley and Taker returning, etc..Wrestlemania XX was in need of a piss-us-off midcard swerve and that match was the perfect way to do it.
