I was unaware that the Rock/Hogan match on the original DVD was edited as to where both were the faces, old news, i know. I was just wondering if anyone has this dvd on the anthology set, or the set for that matter, is this match edited? and are the original themes used in the other wrestlemania's? (i.e. My way for x-seven)

I have the whole set, and it would appear that the Hogan/Rock match is untouched (except for the blurring). Still has the entrance music issue. Hogan comes out to some generic crap, it sucks. I'm haven't watch X-7 but there definitely are music issues all throughout the set. Lots of changes.

Though I don't have the WrestleMania X-8 anthology DVD, if the question you're asking boils down to "Did the Toronto crowd really cheer that much for Hogan, or did WWE edit it?", the answer is, yup, the Toronto crowd was tremendously behind Hogan.

They were behind both men at the start, but by the middle of the contest they were cheering Hogan and booing The Rock, though they'd entered with Rock as the face and Hogan as the heel! Quite a moment, lemme tell ya.

WrestleMania X-8 was actually the first WrestleMania I ever ordered and watched live, so I know of what I speak.

But, yeah, I wonder what the hell's up with them editing the nWo theme music, anyway. They did that with the same match on WWE 24/7 Online, too. It sucks.

Normally, I love pick up new movies and stuff on DVD, but when it comes to the older cards that have the blurring, I'll stick with picking them up on VHS. I'd rather have the original copies than the altered versions.

A question to anyone who own these: do the 'E ever explain why they replace a song with another, or why there's another commentator for whatever purpose? Yes, I know has to do with contractual obligations and copywrite, but is it actually acknowledged by the WWE anywhere? Something to the effect of "due to copywrite, WWE has altered the entry themes to Hollywood Hogan" or "due to contractual agreements, Jesse Ventura's commentary has been replaced with Dusty Rhodes" or whomever.

edit: fixing wording = good.

I don't think the WWE will ever have a disclaimer saying "Because we are too cheap, we butchered the DVD you are about to watch". If anything they're probably crossing their fingers that most people won't notice or won't remember once it's over.

Yeah, but one day those old tapes of yours will look even more blurred than my Anthology DVDs! At least if youīre watching your tapes as often as I watch my DVDs! ;)

You know what I find odd? I understand why they exclude Jesse Ventura's commentary on all their DVD's, but I was watching WrestleMania 1 on WWE 24/7 last night... and his voice was still there. How do they handle that for the anthology, where he's commentating on the first six 'Manias? It would just seem weird whenever the commentators cut away to him talking without any sound....

I suspect they actually did that with a few of the matches on the Bret Hart DVD. It makes it kind of taxing to watch, especially in one match (I forget which one) where it's just McMahon talking, and he just cuts in and out suddenly, interspersed by silence.

Actually, his question sounds like it may be more in relation to "did the WWE edit the crowd to sound like they're cheering The Rock the whole way through?"

Since I don't have the anthology set, I can't answer, but if you aren't hearing much in the way of booing, then yes, the heat is canned - because the crowd was EXCEPTIONALLY vocal every single time the Rock laid a finger on Hogan.

My question was pretty much, was the 2005 anthology DVD the same as the 2002 DVD as in cheering by the crowd.
The Live version: The Rock was booed, as Hogan was cheered
The 2002 DVD version: both the rock and hogan are cheered.
I was just wondering did they alter the crowd like the 2002 DVD release? i'm thinking about buying the anthology set, good buy or not?

By nature TNN is confused. According to that bastion of intelligence Michael Cole on Velocity, the special will be a 2 hour special beginning at 9 eastern.
