Wasted my morning at the WrestleMania press conference in Times Square. They held it at ESPN Zone at 11am. I was in line around 9:30 and I had some of the loudest dumbest wrestling fans around me I've ever had to deal with. These people were amazingly stupid and ignorant. I'm from the Bobby Heenan school; I'm not fond of the humanoids, I admit.

The superstars started arriving around 10:30 and I saw Triple H, Stephanie, Booker T, Stone Cold, and Hollywood Hogan come in. Unfortunately, that was pretty much the last I saw of them live. We were let in at around 10:55am.

Despite a couple of hundred people in line, they counted about thirty to let into a small area on the floor for the press conference. The rest of us were ushered to the third floor game area of ESPN Zone where we had to lean on the railing and look straight down with an obstructed view from about 50 feet at the press conference. Up on the third floor, what was being spoken on the house mics wasn't audible since the sound wasn't being played throughout the restaurant. The crowd got angry that they couldn't hear and started chanting "We can't hear!", which meant nothing at all could be heard but them chanting. Then an ESPN Zone manager came out and actually yelled at everyone like a drill sergeant for leaning on the railing, and forced everyone to step back a foot from the railing, which meant that not only could we not hear, but even the people in front, including me, now couldn't see what was happening. By then there really was no point and I left, but hung around the lobby to watch part of the press conference on the monitors.

What I did see was kind of fun. Jonathan Coachman opened the conference and introduced the Miller Lite Catfight Girls, who spoke briefly and posed for pictures. They will appear at WrestleMania. Eric Bischoff spoke and introduced Booker T, who made some comments. Bischoff then introduced Triple H, who spoke and seemingly had some crowd support from the fans on the floor. Stone Cold Steve Austin then spoke next and had a few words for the Rock and Triple H; he also teased the Coach a little bit. Stephanie McMahon came out next and spoke about how honored she is to be part of WrestleMania. She introduced Brock Lesnar, who spoke. I didn't stick around for Vince and Hogan, which in hindsight, was kind of foolish, but by that point, I'd had quite enough of being at ESPN Zone.

I did wander over to what's left of the World and got a ticket to WrestleMania 3rd Degree on Sunday, but I most likely will just squander that ticket and watch 3rd Degree from home.

What is left at The World anyway? I`m going to NYC to see Conan O`Brien in 2 weeks, and I was thinking I`d stop by there, hoping they`d be doing a going-out-of-business sale of some sort.

I was there last weekend and the only things that were discounted was WWENY-branded merchandise. (glassware, shirts, etc.) All the wrestlers' regular shirts were still $25. Exception: older wrestlers' shirts were discounted at like $10-15. (i.e. Jericho's Larger than Life shirt)
They had a TON of those Booker T plush bears all lined up on one of the shelves. It was somewhat disturbing to see.

I wish they made chocolate Advent calendars for WrestleMania, although I'd skip the Mark Henry day.

So I could get an "All That...and a Great Ass Too" shirt?

Seriously, I wanted the black Hurri t-shirt but never got it, so maybe I`ll find that.

I`d love to see the armada of scary Booker bears.

They could really have used another hour, but yeah it was cool for the nostalgia. Loved the Dragon/Savage footage. but was Liberace really such a great celeb moment??? I miss Heenan.
