Can anyone confirm to me that Wrestlemania IX was an outdoor event?

It was an outdoor event in Las Vegas. There's no doubt about it. If you were talking about some kind of visual confirmation, sorry, can't help you there.

Knowing the circumstances, I don't think Mr. Rogers threatening a laundromat attendant with a gun is appropriate anymore. So you get this instead.

Mania 9 was the worst Mania of all time, bar none. I know that it was done at Caesar's, but it looked like it was at the County Fair. It was not a good day for the WWF.

Wasn't this the one where we got to see Heenan and Monsoon ans Ross dressed in togas? That was pretty funny actually.

I thought that WrestleMania IX at least had a great setting, though the event itself was crap. Safeco Field has a retractable roof, so maybe we'll get another outdoor WrestleMania this year.

Well Mr. Burns had done it.

Wrestlemania 9 has really gotten a bad rap. It really wasn't THAT bad. I thought the setting and togas were kind of unique.
Much better than say, ...the Hartford Civic Center. WM 11. Now that was a weak card. The most talked about performance was by a non-wrestler (Lawrence Taylor)

Not unless our weather changes dramatically in the next week and a half. It's been cold and rainy all week. Even when the roof is closed, Safeco can get pretty cold this time of year.

I always liked the outdoor feel. I liked it at WrestleMania IX, I liked it at SummerSlam 92. Hell, I even liked it at all the Hogg/Road Wild PPVs.

WrestleMania IX did not get a bad rap. It DID suck. Shawn Michael v. Tatanka was the best match, and even that wasn't too good. Just okay. It was all downhill from there, culminating with the worst finish in WrestleMania history during the main-event.

And the roof at SafeCo Field will NOT be open during WrestleMania XIX. It rains 364 days a year in Seattle, and I doubt that March 30th will be the one day it doesn't.

Thats not entirely true. Its more like 300 days with about 65 days of sun in the middle of the summer.

We just tell everyone that it rains *all* the time to prevent californians from moving north.

-_-... How could the togas be any BETTER than anything about WM11? Hmm?

Although to be fair, 11 DID feel like a house show. I suspected that the whole reason they were there was because the Special Olympics were in New Haven.

Yeah, but WrestleMania XI had a FEW decent matches. I thought the Ramon/Jarrett match was okay, and Shawn/Diesel was pretty good. Both matches have been done better on different occasions, but still. The only thing WrestleMania IX had was Shawn/Tatanka, and even that was barely decent.

They are both regarded as two of the worst WrestleMania's ever. However, in the middle is WrestleMania X, which is, IMO, the second best WrestleMania ever, only following x-seven.

Okay, maybe IX DID suck.
I do remember how cheap the ending was. Hogan, who had already appeared, came out to "save the day"--beating the big, bad guy in just seconds.
I think "You Screwed Bret" should be chanted at Hogan, not Hebner. He came to help his "buddy" Bret. Yeah, right. Prior to this, Hart and Hogan had never faced or tagged with each other. I don't think they had ever even appeared on camera together.
Hogan had REALLY worn out his welcome at this point. I remember when SummerSlam '92 happened, thinking "This is the first NON-Hogan PPV the WWF has ever had" It turned out to be pretty good without him.

******Seattle weather update********

Today is actually beautiful and sunny. Still a little chill in the air, but certainly a day the roof would be open at Safeco...

Ok you have to say Wrestlemania 13 is up there with the crappiest of them all. Ok ok i know the submission match saved the show, but that's it...

And that's...a GOOD THING!

Definitley. WrestleMania 13 was brutal. But, like you said, it had Austin v. Hart, which is probably the BEST WrestleMania match of all-time. So, it was officially better than WrestleMania IX and WrestleMania XI. Probably better than WrestleManias 2 and IV, too.

WrestleMania XV was horrible, but had enough some-what decent matches to be better than 13. But not by much.

yeah, i'm running these as all straight up one-on-one matches, but i do have the submission mode on. maybe once i get all of these done i can go through with your suggestion SerWolfe, depending on just how much spare time i have. =)
