I did not witness the PPV as it happened and I haven't watched everything across the three discs yet, so I can't comment on any possible crowd noise alteration. However, it is on sale for 15 bucks at Circuit City this week so it was pretty hard to resist. As I was about to throw the bag away I felt something in the bottom of the bag and noticed they gave me a decent freebie.
Yes, a "See No Evil" chain. Can't see it in the pic but it has the title written on the hook. It's useless for me because I can't fit it around my oversized head and I wouldn't wear it anyway, but still...hey, free. I'm not sure if this is everywhere, just at Circuit City, just at the Circuit City I went to, or what. I know Wal-Mart was supposedly giving away a Mysterio DVD with purchase, but I'm not sure if it was as cheap as the CC deal.
Too many trailers before the main menu. See No Evil, WWE 24/7, WWE Home Video, Wrestlemania Anthology Set, Wrestlemania 21, and of course the latest revision of the "Bodies have been bruised..." spot. Big Show has taken Edge's place as the one who sounds suspiciously like Rikishi.
I picked up my WM22 DVD today at Wal-Mart, and was very pleasantly surprised to see they threw in a Rey Mysterio 619 DVD in for free. Watched the Bret induction, and it goes on for a good while, definitely makes me wanna see the entire ceremony, to see what they actually did cut from it.
Last night I went out and picked up Wrestlemania 22 at Wal-Mart for 19.96+tax and if you get DVD on the first shipment yeah they throw in one more freebie as in "Rey Mysterio 619" DVD.
Well, I'm going to start this off in reverse as I reviewed the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony to see if I missed anything other than the cut Bret Hart segment. Man, I really love the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Just in case you're behind this year and have no clue who went in this year here was the list.
The Blackjacks inducted by Bobby Heenan Verne Gagne inducted by Greg Gagne William "The Refrigerator" Perry inducted by John Cena Sensational Sherri inducted by Ted Dibiase Tony Atlas inducted by S.D. Jones Gene Okerland inducted by Hulk Hogan Eddie Guerrero inducted by Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerrero, and Rey Mysterio
Bret "HITMAN" Hart inducted by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
If you get this DVD set I think you'll be glad to for everything they put on and gave us but ONCE AGAIN, slightly, they rewrite parts of history so that we won't remember it. Now I need go buy bootleg to feel better about being robbed by a company I support by giving them my money.
I haven't been over the whole set yet so bare with me because I went to the first place on the DVD that might have some kind of editing. The Womens match...they didn't screw with the audio but they totally eliminated the botch and licking gesture by Mickie after the "clutch" hold.
It's not a lot but considering the fact they gave us the entire hall of Fame on Disc 3 and SNME on two I'm not to upset. As I said the only thing as a wrestling fan that upsets me is there continued use of there editing power on taking out parts.
Apparently KaneRobot was thinking the same thing I was when I've been editing on starting thread for the past 2 hours no biggy. Yet I'm going to check the rest of the DVD out here later tonight and comeback to see if there is anything else that can be said.
Just picked this up. It's a tremendous set, and they threw a LOT on it (entire PPV, entire SNME, entire HOF) so I can't really complain. But the lack of Mickie licking is.... well, it's heartbreaking. It just seems like a weird thing to cut (like Chris Jericho's flipping off HBK on the WM XIX DVD).
Still, this might be the best PPV DVD set they have ever put out.
In reference to the See No Evil chain that KaneRobot got with his DVD, are my eyes deceiving me, or am I seeing a WWE branded and/or related piece of merchandise that doesn't scream "THIS IS A WWE BRANDED AND/OR RELATED PIECE OF MERCHANDISE"?
Picked it up today. Really great DVD set for the price (especially with the extra Rey DVD). I haven't had much time to watch it, but it looks like all of the important music is kept in. Especially if you love "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel.
The crowd was certainly interesting this night... to say the least. I can't imagine that they changed the crowd reactions at all for the DVD release, since they seem to be booing at inappropriate/unexpected times.

Thank you, sir. That was EXACTLY what I wanted to know. I loved the ending capsule that they played to "Big Time" adn I wanted to make sure they kept that in before I deleted WM 22 from my TiVo. (They did keep that part, didn't they?)
Shame about taking out the Mickie James ..."incident", though. Not because I'm into that, but because I really thought it made her character completely psychotic. In fact, I'm kinda bummed that she's playing it straight now.
I also bought and loved this set, although I bought mine at my Target, so I didn't get any price break OR any Rey Mysterio DVD. The ending capsule is definitely on the DVD.
I really liked that they left in the entire HOF ceremony. It was the most riveting stuff of all the CD's. Watching Sherri go crazy was great trainwreck material. And if you didn't shed a tear or at least get misty all over again during the Eddie stuff, then you have no soul. Bret of course was the highlight though, and he came across terrific.
I even enjoyed the quick wwe.com WM 22 post game show. It was pretty pedestrian, but HBK gave a good interview and John Cena was decent too.
All in all, I'm very happy with spending the money on a WM that I didn't even really enjoy all that much. The extras made it a worthwhile purchase.
I might be remembering incorrectly here, but I think the chain says "copyright World Wrestling Entertainment 2006" or something similar on the back of the hook. I'll edit this if I remember to look. It doesn't really matter either way, both the title and the copyright are so small you can't even tell what it's for anyway.
It's strange...like I said previously, I didn't watch the event as it happened. However, during the Trish/Mickie thing, there was a point where I thought there was a strange edit in the match. I'm guessing that's where the offending footage was removed. Lame.
I don't get it - they leave in the part where she sticks her HAND in there, but pantomiming with her mouth is a no-no? Well, nice to have standards I guess.
...
The crowd noise seems to be pretty genuine to me...although I hate how the DVD releases always seem to have the entrance music drowning out the crowd reaction (even if it's not the obvious complete overdub of licensed stuff).
I bought mine at Wal*Mart a couple days ago after reading this thread (thanks for the heads-up!). I already watched the feature portion of 619. Not as good as Eddie's or Jake Roberts' (which I also just bought a few months ago), but it was cool. Isnt it odd that Rey keeps listing all of the companies he's worked for (AAA, ECW, WCW, WWE) and they show us footage of his work in all of those companies EXCEPT for ECW? Maybe there's a match or 2 in the extras, I forget.
I saw WM22 live on PPV, but I havent watched any of those discs yet. I promised my buddy I would wait to watch the HoF with him, but I couldnt resist and I watched Sherri's, Eddie's and Bret's inductions last night.
Sherri's was awesome. She looked like she was having the time of her life up there. Based on her "speech", it also sounds like she slept with every single wrestler she's ever managed. When she got to Flair, it looks like he was trying to motion her to shut up and he kept pointing to a woman sitting next to him. I thought it was his daughter at first, but the way he was motioning to her I'm thinking it might have been his new wife?
There was not a dry eye in the house during Eddie's induction. No dry eyes at my house either.
Bret's was good too, of course. I'm glad I finally got to see the whole thing. He had a lot of really cool stories to tell, especially the one about his son not wanting to go to bed and the one about all the wrestlers horsing around at the bar. I wont spoil them for you if you havent heard them, but they were hilarious.
The only crowd editing I can find is during John Cena's HOF speech. For a second, when Cena is still talking, you can hear some faint "Fuck you Cena" chants. Cena then stops talking and just gives some facial reactions, and the crowd at that point is dubbed out for just plain boos. I was there, and I can tell you that those chants went on longer and were REALLY loud, so it was a pretty obvious edit.
Looking over the discs, this was a great set. My favorite part is the commentary on the battle royal, where Cole & Tazz sarcastically bury the match.
Cole: "We drew the long straws to call this one." Tazz: "Yeah, we really lucked out there." Cole: "Just look at the jealousy on JR and King's faces."
Cole: "And the match is over. Wow, I was really hoping it'd go on for another 15-20 minutes." Tazz: (with sarcasm dripping out of his mouth) "Definitley one of the best battle royals I've ever been a part of."
One question: Is the Shelton Benjamin springboard move on there? The one where he jumped off the ropes onto the ladder? The camera originally didnīt catch that one as you know!

One of the moments that led to the decline of the WWF is close to its second anniversary: Vince going out to the ring on RAW and babbling for the first 15 minutes that people should vote on the night before the US election.
