You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week. "All because he got over seven years ago forcing rimjobs on people against their will?" (Hogan's My Dad) I'm at my brother's right now, and his wireless network uses WPA2. Problem is, my laptop (an Averatec 3150P) doesn't want to connect to it using the built-in wireless card. I've installed the relevant patch (microsoft.com) for WPA2, but it still doesn't show up on the list of approved security protocols... only WEP. I'm borrowing his dongle right now, and it works great, but not the built-in wireless. Installed the newest drivers on Averatec's site, too (but they're two and a half years old). Any ideas?

Would he be willing to downgrade to WEP while you are there? That might be the easiest way to fix this.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week. "All because he got over seven years ago forcing rimjobs on people against their will?" (Hogan's My Dad) Well, I'm leaving tomorrow, so it's probably not much of a problem beyond then, but I dunno about downgrading. Either way, it doesn't ask me anything about WPA when it comes to security. Here's what it says now, dongle in tow:

Differences with the built-in card instead of dongle: * Where it says Network Authentication, the only options are "Open" and "Shared". * Data encryption is only "Disabled" or "WEP".
Hope this helps explain things.
