That's how WOW is billing the WOW Girls now. More updates from the WOW Superheroes Twitter feed: (twitter.com)

Lots of old names coming back, including:

LANA STAR (debuting a new protege on The Lana Star Show)
JUNGLE GRRL
CAGED HEAT
REFEREE JOSH MILTON!
SELINA MAJORS is also again training the girls.

Plus a glimpse at the new crop of girls training here:

You know, it seems a bit silly to me that, with more women's wrestlers in North America than at any point in history, McLane wouldn't put at least a few women on the card who can actually draw.

I realize that WOW is pretty much a joke promotion, but they could easily be the Chikara to Shimmer, NCW:FF or, to a lesser extent, Shine. Just the same group of workers with ridiculous gimmicks.

I always was a fan of Jungle Girl (Erica Porter) & am actually happy she's getting back into wrestling. But realistically, most (if not all) of the original WOW performers haven't wrestled (or kept themselves any kind of relevant) in 10-12 years. I followed the new WOW on facebook just to keep up with them, and who knows? maybe it won't be so much of the circus act previous McClane products have been. Excalibur05 is partially right though, in that there are so many great women wrestling right now there is 0 need to train anyone new just for the sake of running a tv show. Although I'm not so sure about established wrestlers changing characters. That's what wrestlicious did, and it kind of worked but kind of didn't.

I want to say 'there aren't really independent women's wrestlers who significantly draw, the concept of athletic women wrestling draws a strong niche audience willing to pay higher than average ticket prices to fill up a small Eagle's Club but not the widespread casual audience needed for the size of buildings WOW was running last time out, like many women's sports. Jazz headlining may be able to sell 200 (i)PPVs buys, but WOW did about the same on it's own last time out and drowned in a sea of red ink', but I'm not sufficiently motivated to go to brass tacks on this. The world would be a more fascinating place if you were right and I was wrong, I can agree on that.

But to make a long discussion a lot shorter - I doubt it's the WOW people choosing specifically to exclude indy women. I'd guess it's much more like it's the WOW people making people sign some level of exclusive contract and not guaranteeing enough to make that exclusivity worth it. That's usually the situation when you've got a whole bunch of newcomers who don't know any better and not outsiders.

Who cares. I'll enjoy it while it lasts. And when ten years passes and WOW3 happens, I'll enjoy it again.

I'm guessing the Horny Goat Brewing Company went under, taking away Wrestlicious' only "sponsor" so they had to close up shop.

GLOW killed any real independent wrestling being taken serious. That is all a generation of fans know of women's wrestling is very attractive girls knowing a handful of moves. WWE has helped a little, but not much. Even the height of the women's division, there were mud wrestling matches, T&A matches and dumb story arcs. After they gutted the division, they turned it into GLOW 2.0.

Even if Shimmer got a TV deal on Spike, I doubt it would get half of TNA's ratings. It is a shame, because there is a lot of talented female wrestlers, but there is no audience.

I think this show was a perfect example of why ending the brand split was a really, really stupid idea.
