All the pieces coming together, Claudette shitcanning Vic's replacement.
Shane SOMEHOW doing the right thing.
Ronnie well prepared to go down with Vic, and showing his loyalty.
Acevedo looking like a chump, and then coming around.
One season left. I wish it was here already!

It's rare that a show hits it's stride in it's 5th and 6 seasons, but they did it.
Hopefully we don't have to wait so long for season 7. Anyone know when it returns?

Although filming for television can have short turnaround times (example: Spike TV's "Kill Pit" just wrapped filming here and begins airing July 22.) And hey, wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) says... And there's also a nice little appreciation piece in the New York Times (nytimes.com) today about the show.
My two cents? I was sure that Shane would take an Armenian bullet, clearing the deck for Vic vs. Claudette one on one next season. And this finale doesn't come close to last years... | StaggerLee

Oh, man, right when Shane locked up Corrine and Cassidy and told them he'd be back for them -- I was positive that the show would end with Shane getting killed and then cutting back to Corrine and Cassidy, locked up where no one knew where they were.
I'm assuming we'll hear from Billings again -- hopefully Dutch will poke some holes in his lawsuit or something and get the last laugh.
I'm not entirely convinced by Mackey's spur-of-the-moment decision to leave the hearing and immediately pull over that guy and pull a ton of evidence incriminating seemingly every important person in town out of the trunk. It seemed like a deus ex machina to me.
In fact, I thought for a while that Vic might actually lose his job. With Hiatt out, Ronnie (the consummate follower) would take over in name while Vic would continue to actually run the Strike Team -- through Ronnie -- from the outside, using them to try and solve the contractor mystery in order to somehow leverage the higher-ups into giving him his job back. Doesn't look like it will play out that way, of course, but it would have been interesting.
As far as the future -- any ending that involves Mackey being "redeemed" is going to be unsatisfactory for me. What are you all hoping for?

Vic and Aceveda have always been dirty in their own ways, but I see them both redeeming themselves in the end, but one of them will probably die to do so.
