Boston Red Sox (1907 - 2004) - 4 World Championships, 8 Pennants, and 14 Playoff Appearances Boston Pilgrims (1903 - 1906) - 1 World Championship, 2 Pennants, and 1 Playoff Appearance Boston Somersets (1902) Boston Americans (1901)
All that doesn't include last night's WS win, so that would be six total.
So, who is officially the winner of the 1904 WS? Is it like the strike year (1995?) and there was just no game, therefore no winner, or should Boston get a forfit win?
And now, for a limited time only, it rhymes with "door hinge!"

I am not a Red Sox fan, nor a Yankees fan, but I gotta respect winning. Congratulations Sox. But do us all a favor and let your talking be done on the field next year and the next year. You can't really talk too much smack to the Yankees, well because 1 vs 26(I think) isn't all that much. Now you did in stellar and unbelievable fashion. But you still don't have much on the Bronx Bombers.
Great rivalries grow out of competition. Now that you've won one, this thing has a chance to escalate even more(if that were even possible).
Considering Sox fans have had to put up with "Curse" and "1918" stuff for so long (especially from Yankees fans, who seem to enjoy the Sox failing as much, if not more so, than the Yanks winning) I think we are entitled to some bragging.
According to Red Sox Century (great book, by the way), Boston gets the forfeit win from 1904.
Last night was the best thing ever. Period. Eight wins in a row. The comeback drubbing of the Yankees followed by a sweep in the World Series. Ortiz. Schilling. They couldn't have scripted this thing better if it was a movie (and I'm sure it will be several, eventually). I didn't know what to think when I got up this morning. The world seems like a totally different place.
My Sox finally did it. Miracles do happen.

I love this team. I love the city (except driving in it). Curt Schilling is my favorite baseball player EVER. I knew they would not be denied. I have never ever cried because of any sporting event. I did last night. Go on. Make fun of me if you want. Enough gushing...more celebrating. GO SOX!!! Thank you.
I have been hearing that the victory parade will be Friday, but my Dad (in Holbrook, just between Braintree and Brockton) said they are reporting the parade will be on Saturday. 5 MILLION people are expected to show up for it.
*pictures Michigan Stadium, holding 100,000 people. Multiplies that by 50. Boggles.*
He reported that the whole area seems to be quiet, like in a state of shock. Even at the pool he goes to, the locker room was quiet. Usually, the guys would be complaining about the Sox blowing it again, but now they have nothing to complain about! People are just amazed at how fast this all happened. Personally, he's glad the win was an away game 'cause he figures the city would have been a shambles today.

5 million would about 75% of the state's entire population, nevermind Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire. I'd be surprised if they could verify that many people, but this is the year for surprises.
It is odd that right now there is practically nothing to bitch about on sports radio. Not a bad thing at all, just not the norm. Sox have the Series, Patriots are walking on water, Bruins aren't playing so there's nothing to talk about and the Celtics are so far off the radar they may as well play home games on the moon.

Too bad you weren't down by us, StaggerLee. We ended up at that porch bar (outside the Marriott?) just across from Busch Stadium...lotsa Sox fans and Cards fans getting along fine and congratulating each other.
Cards fans, you're all class. You helped make Game 4 one helluva time for me and my Boston-born buddy.
I'll have to write a more in-depth article on our trip and attending the RED SOX WINNING A F*CKING WORLD TITLE later, but for now:
World Series tix...$1600 Hotel...$70 Miles driven round-trip from Green Bay to St. Louis and back...1000 Beers consumed...(lost count) Red Sox world championship...priceless.
There are some things Steinbrenner's money can't buy. For everything else, there's...Derek Lowe!?
World champs. Wow. F'n wow.

I'm sure Red Sox fans don't care at all but what a let down of the World Series, all due to The Cardinals end. The entire season did they ever play a stretch of 4 games as poor as this... The offense just wasn't clutch the entire series, some real bad mental mistakes, also the black cloud that every Cardinals fan was worrying about. They all had career years, but you didn't have the experienced ace out there that's been through the pressures and it showed in the World Series that every game St. Louis having to play catch up early on.
Well, major congratulations to the Red Sox and their fans.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19
I'm just wondering, when did it become acceptable for people to jump on the Red Sox bandwagon and characterize them as an underdog? I mean, yeah, they were the lesser of two evils in the ALCS, but this is far, far from being America's team.
