I have no problem with Boston winning, they are clearly playing the best ball of the post season. As a Yankee fan, it makes it a bit tougher to swallow, but, imagine if they had interviewed the Gieco Ghecko or Jack from Jack in the box, and made it like it was supposed to be a serious interview. It was just garbage all the way around.

If Jack in the Box owned the home team and named the stadium the game was being played in, and it was "The 2004 World Series sponsored by Jack in the Box", I suspect that there might be an interview with Jack during a game.

I'm not supporting it, just saying I understand it in this particular instance.

I'm not really a baseball fan. However, since game 6 of the Red Sox/Yankees game, I've been sucked into this. I just can't believe that in a few hours, the 'Curse of the Bambino' could die.

Game 4... 7th inning Stretch and who is singing "God Bless America"? Scott "Spooging of the Christ" Stapp. Talk about sucking the heat out of an event. Maybe I am being harsh, but couldn't they have picked someone else?

Edit: Realization

No, no they couldn't. After all someone has to blow to High Heaven in the most craptacular way possible, that is, if the BoSox aren't in a World Series.

Well...I don't think anyone saw a 4-game sweep coming at all.

Also didn't think anyone would ever expect DEREK LOWE of all people to be as dominant as he was in his last two starts.

Congratulations, Boston! Curse broken!

EDIT: Texas Kelly, everyone knows the Apocalypse doesn't come until the day the CHICAGO CUBS win a world championship. But with 2002 champion Anaheim Angels and 2004 champion Boston Red Sox, is that really such a farfetched idea anymore?

Between the interview with Leon and Scott fucking Stapp singing America The Beautiful, I'm really, really, really glad that SportsNet here in Canada carried the international feed for the Series. I don't even know who the two generic guys were that called the games, but their solid job was miles ahead of Buck and McCarver. Holy Christ, it's like Cole and Lawler were a broadcast team.

Congrats to the Red Sox and their long suffering fans. They certainly deserve it.....and now here comes the heel turn. Now that you have your World Series title, you're just another big-market division rival that bought yourself a championship. Since 1918, you're still one behind the Blue Jays in world titles! Ha!

.....

.....

.....oh, who am I kidding. I'm just bitter over the fact that on this day, the Jays had the "good news" of announcing that they only lost $7 million last season. Fuck!

Well we already saw what happened to Bill Simmons before the Superbowl this year. So now that the Pats are the new dynasty in football, and Massachusets can claim two major sports championships in the same year how long before the rest of America says, "Hey Boston, go fuck yourselves?" If the NHL wasn't dead, I think the Boston sympathy train would end at the first mention of a possible "Trifecta". Now, I think it'll be either A) The Pats nearing the 16-0 season, or B) The Pats in the playoffs that we'll see the Boston haters start to come out in droves.

What a bummer for baseball though. This basically kills the BoSox bandwagon, and kills next season's Yankees/Redsox matchups in the ratings. I could be wrong, but I'm betting that the grudge match between the two highest payrolls won't really matter to the rest of the nation in a year.

-Jag

Not to sound all negative though! Congrats on the Series! I'm sure my Boston friends are flipping out and drunk tonight.

FIrst things first, congradulations to the Red Sox. You overpowered the Yanks with Pitching, and did the same to the Cards. You played to terrific for 8 straight games. Congrats.

Having said that, please, PLEASE Sox Fans, get an ounce of fucking class already. I ran into about 50 Sox fans, who started chanting ASSHOLE to anybody with a Cardinals shirt tonite after the game.

Try not to burn you fucking city down. Reference Detroit if you must.

And, finally, stop pissing and moaning about not winning for so long. You won it. You can quit bitching about curses and demons and ghosts and whatever the fuck else you blamed an inadequate team or performance on.

See you all next spring.

And Yankee fans and TV production teams can stop bringing it up every three seconds when there's a Red Sox game on, and stop saying "Bucky Dent" and "Aaron Boone" and "Curse of the Bambino" and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. This is hardly a one-way street you're driving down.

Oh I know what you are talking about. I hate that too. I am already WATCHING THE GAME, there is no need to sell me on the drama of it.

For crying out loud is there no announce team in the world that can simply describe what is happening on the field without making it out as a big huge soap opera?

Ah just wait. The venom will really come out once everyone in St. Louis realizes they've now lost two major championiships to Boston in the past three years.

But that's what postseason baseball _is_.

I wouldn't go that far. Yanks-BoSox is THE rivalry, and you don't kill a century-old rivalry in one year. Large chunks of America (myself included) would crawl over broken glass to watch the Yankees lose in dramatic fashion in any year, particularly to Teddy Ballgame's boys. I'm surprised that they didn't bring out Ted's frozen head in the post-game show, just so that he could join in the celebration.

Me? I'm still in disbelief. It happened. I'm expecting to go out this morning and see a red sky, birds flying backwards and canned ham falling like hail.

(As a sidenote, the Phillies fan in me knew that Curt Schilling was the definition of clutch, and that Scott Rolen's WS flameout would fill me with a delightful amount of schadenfreude... but TERRY FRANCONA as the tide-turning manager? Who'da thunk it?)
