In the All-Star Game, Scott Kazmir was the winning pitcher and Brad Lidge was the losing pitcher, giving the AL home field advantage.
And last night, Scott Kazmir was the losing pitcher and Brad Lidge got the save that erased home field advantage.

| #10 Posted on 27.10.08 2141.13 | Instant Rating: 6.02 | This is ricoculous. Baseball should not have let the game get to this point. It's completely unfair to the Rays to have to play in these conditions.
As I'm typing this, the Rays have just tied it. If they have a lick of sense, they'll call it right now while they can suspend it rather than have the potentially deciding game of the World Series either played under terrible conditions or ended in mid-game.
Why does the "after five innings, it's an official game" rule apply in the WS? It's one thing to have a regular season game that's only six innings count, but for a World Series game, they really ought to suspend it and play it another day.
They let the inning end. Unbelievable. Even the Fox announcers have been criticizing them for playing (while, of course, not acknowledging that it's undoubtedly Fox' influence causing them to play). Hope they call it now and finish it tomorrow. | djp

I didn't know this, but apparenly a rule change in 2007 would have allowed this game to be decided had the Rays not scored to tie it. How anti-climactic would that have been? There really should never be a shorted game in the playoffs under weather-related circumstances. | kwik

I don't know if that was ever formalized or if this falls into the catchall of "Commissioners Discretion", but he was pretty clear that there would be at least 9 innings of baseball, regardless of how long they had to wait the weather out.
Now, the $64,000 question is, is this discussion happening if the score was 9-0 Philadelphia.

Late October weather isn't a factor when you're going back and forth between a dome and Southern California. Also, in that scenario no one would be talking about how poorly designed the postseason schedule is.

I don't know about Game 6, but if the WS keeps getting pushed back over bad weather, it might mean the Phils can trot out Cole Hamels again for Game 7. He did only throw 75 pitches. I wouldn't rule it out.

Guess they don't have to worry about that now.
