It's been a while.

I've been busy with so much stuff that I haven't read shit. I've been slowly catching up until today when I actually got so mad at a book, that I ripped it to shreds and said "I'm out."

The book in question is Wolverine #311. I feel so offended by this shit that I wanna punch some one in the face over it.

Sabretooth's back. That's not really a bad thing cause when used right, he can be an excellent character. Moving on.

Remus, a quite character, retcons that whole Wolf Mutant thing from a couple years ago. Hey, this is a really good thing. That story, written by Jeph Loeb, was fucking terrible. Moving on.

Here's what fucking did me in. We find out that Wanda giving Worverine all his memories back didn't work out that well cause there's a 'New Memory' where we find out Worverine made up the whole Weapon X story. Evidently, Weapon X didn't give him his skeleton. Barry Windsor Smith's Weapon X story is a figment of our imagination.

And he also has FOUR claws now? Where the fuck did THAT come from?

Anyway, this book was so insulting to me that I destroyed it and boxed up all the other stuff I was gonna read and said fuck this shit.

Seriously, What... The Fuck?

I'm honestly confused by this review. Did you actually read the comic or just hear some second hand rumors and decide to go on a rant?

I ask because, while I don't read this title, I did read a review of it that featured a few panels from the book. And even those few panels with no other context about the story made it pretty clear that the person with four claws was talking to Wolverine. I guess if you just looked at the art you could be confused since they have basically the same hair, but the dialog makes things very clear.

The second thing you got wrong is that they never said Weapon X was made up, the panel says "The Weapon X program was -- is -- and will always be -- your idea." So BWS's story happened, they're just saying that it was Wolverine's idea to make it happen. Unless the four clawed man is lying, which villains have been known to do.

If you're interested in checking out the important panels again, since you've ripped up your copy, you can check out the first post here. The second picture shows the guy popping the four claws while he's obviously talking to Wolverine. The third one deals with the Weapon X stuff.

Yeah, it's Romulus in the panels.

http://marvel.wikia.com/Romulus_(Earth-616)

He has always had 4 claws.

*****

Not saying that this brilliant work or anything. It's shit...

But...

"I repeat Sturgeon’s Revelation, which was wrung out of me after twenty years of wearying defense of science fiction against attacks of people who used the worst examples of the field for ammunition, and whose conclusion was that ninety percent of SF is crud.[1] Using the same standards that categorize 90% of science fiction as trash, crud, or crap, it can be argued that 90% of film, literature, consumer goods, etc. are crap. In other words, the claim (or fact) that 90% of science fiction is crap is ultimately uninformative, because science fiction conforms to the same trends of quality as all other artforms."

Feel free to substitute comic books for science fiction. Sturgeon's point remains valid.

Wasn't Deadpool a part of Weapon X? Isn't there a few others?

I doubt they can outright just say Wolverine made everything up.

He didn't make it up, he somehow orchestrated it.
Which doesn't make sense of course, but at least it is possible without messing with any timeline. The guy's been around for years, he has had time to help people set up some agency.

As for him not knowing this before.
In the previous arc they revealed that Dr. Rot cut some tiny parts out of Logan's brain.
And while it regrew, the memories contained in it did not.
So the weapon-X memories got damaged&wiped before the whole restore by the Witch.

Romulus' first run was pretty sucky.
It's a shame they decided to bring him back to do even more damage to the Wolverine background.

Granted, I was kinda wasted last night, but I thought it was Wolverine. They look alike... with the hair and the claws and what not.

Maybe I did misread the shit, but Loeb is such a terrible hack now, who knows what the hell happened anymore. I sure don't. I just know that it disgusted me to no end and I'm done with all this shit for a while.

EDIT: DAMN, still drunk, I see. Good think I'm going on a Bar Crawl in 2hrs!

My googling seems to indicate that this was explained in the last issue, Wolverine 310. The Sabretooth that was decapitated was apparently one of many clones created by Romulus.

The story is really weak, but at least the art is nice to look at. This blog post (by someone else) sums up my thoughts better than I could:
