I've heard a lot of people say that they think Hogan and Piper should face off one last time at WM XX for nostalgia's sake.

I've heard a lot of other people (and some of the same people) say that such a match would suck because Piper has nothing left to offer in the ring.

Why not make it a tag match between Hogan+Savage / Piper+Flair? Flair could cover Piper's limitations, they could resolve or reignite several old issues between Hogan+Savage, Hogan+Piper, Hogan+Flair, and Savage+Flair, and since it is an anniversary edition of WM, it makes sense to make it a tag, since Piper and Hogan tagged against each other at WM I.

You'd have to settle the issues between Savage and Hogan first, so I picture Savage coming back to challenge Hogan in Dec or Jan, and they have a singles match at the Rumble or NWO. Savage is about to finally get his big win over Hogan when Flair attacks him, but Hogan "doesn't wanna win that way," and attacks Flair. Then Piper attacks Hogan, and Hogan and Savage decide to put their differences aside to chase the heels, so the match ends in a double-count-out. Then you've got your 80's nostalgia tag match for WM XX.

What do you think? Any matches you'd like to see at WM XX?

It's way too early to even start thinking of a Hogan match at WMXX. Booking a legends match for the sake of having a legends match doesn't cut it. Slamboree proved that.

Well, since it'll be in New York, and 20 years later, Sgt. Slaughter vs. The Iron Sheik could be one match.
And, since they bought the rights to the old Crockett/WCW, who can have a nostalgia feud without Paul Jones' Army vs.'The Boogie Woogie Man' Jimmy Valiant. Who cares if the young talent gets bumped from the show, its washed up wrestlers who'll draw in the young demographics.

I heard somewhere that Baron Von Raschke is still making appearances. I'd love to see him and Verne Gagne go at it one more time. They could even promote it as a `death match' in the literal sense.

I think Hogan vs Flair match would be a good one. The history is there, just let them go out and put on a match one last time, similiar to Sting vs Flair on the last Nitro.

If HE was still healthy I would love to see Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels one more time.

WIENER OF THE DAY! July 6, 2002!

Fear can sometimes be a useful emotion. For instance, let's say you're an astronaut on the moon and you fear that your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."

Huckster. Nacho Man. Been there, done that, _already aired an accurate depiction of the match_.

Flair vs. Hogan would the match I would want to see since Wrestlemania XX is in my backyard this year. I would hope it would be an offical retriement match for both of them where they both leave after a good match and the wrestlers from the locker room come out and shake their hands. Then Flair and Hogan can leave on up notes. Thats how I would book it anyway.

I'd love to see Bret vs. Shawn, unfortuantly, I don't see Bret being able to wrestle ever. I did say that about Shawn to and he surprised the hell out of me. That would fun to watch as well.

Its hard to book Wrestlemania right now since you don't know who is going to be health or hurt around that time. I would hope Angle and Edge would be back soon. I would also assume that Austin and Rock will be there just for the sheer fact of how big it is. My hopes would be that someone other than HHH has the belt and Benoit has the title by then or had the the title and that Vince doesn't get another 30 minute match and lets some of the wrestling talent get that.

A Fan- It will be interesting to see where time takes us.

Yeah, I'm sure that Vince would love to do a New Generation match as well as a Rock'n Wrestling match, and if it were possible, I bet he'd love that match to be Bret/HBK. He'll probably have to settle for Taker/HBK, or Diesel/HBK, though.

edit: Hey! I thought of a way that a Bret/HBK payoff could be worked in, even if HBK does not recover sufficiently to work one more match. (But presuming, of course, that Bret can be convinced to be paid a lot of money to finally get the last laugh on HBK).

OK, let's assume that the HBK/Y2J feud ends with mutual respect, and they become allies. Also presume that HBK decides that he can't work even occasional matches and won't be able to do one last match at WM XX, and he becomes a heel manager type for Jericho. Benoit gets traded from SD! (Lance could be turned face to fill this role without any trading of rosters, but I'd rather have Benoit). Benoit can't believe that Jericho is allied with Michaels. My god, the man blew his nose on the flag of Canada! HBK's cheating causes Benoit to lose to Jericho a few times in early 04, so for the blowoff at WM XX, he brings in Bret to counteract Shawn at ringside.

Or, if Michaels and Hart are both in good enough shape for it, make it a tag match.

I'd like to see hogan/savage/warrior/brother brutus vs hot rod/flair/John tenta/the giant. mr T as the ref, cyndi lauper as the guest time keeper. Ray charles as the special outside the ring enforcer. I'm not being sarcastic. that would rule in NYC. except for the ray charles part maybe

Two words: FLAIR/HOGAN. Retirement match. Loser retires for good, relegated to a non-wrestling role. If Flair loses, he just stays outta the ring and manages young guys like Randy Orton. If Hogan loses, he can do something similar on the Smackdown side...or do promos or do some commentary. He has a good voice for it. Either way, it's time for these guys to step aside and let the Ortons of the world unite and fight...in the ring.

I wouldn't mind a Hogan/Piper match. They main-evented the first Mania (albeit in a tag team match), so why not have them somewhere on the card for nostalgia's sake? Hell, if Mr. T and Paul Orndorff are up for it, a rematch from the first Wrestlemania would work just fine. It'd probably suck, but I can forgive them for that.

Maybe they could do another gimmick battle royal. If Gorilla Monsoon was still alive, he and Jesse Ventura could do commentary, though they could always go with Tony Schiavone. Participants could include Flash Funk, The Body Donnas, Isaac Yankem (with no mention that he's actually Kane ;-)), The Nasty Boys, Mr. Bob Backlund, a sober Jake Roberts, The Mountie, Henry Godwinn, Virgil, The Honky Tonk Man, Aldo Montoya, Marty Jannetty, and either Evil Japanese Crush or Neon-Singlet Wearing Crush. Throw in The Brooklyn Brawler and Barry Horowitz, and this would be just as fun.

And although it's not a match, the one thing I want at WM20 is a ten bell salute for all of the WWF's stars that have passed away.

I wouldn't have a problem with a Hogan-Flair nostalgia match or a tag team match involving those two. The key, tho, is to promote it as a special attraction and NOT as a legitimate main event. That's where they went wrong with the Hogan-McMahon match this year. You have super-athletes like Lesnar and Angle in one championship match their other contemporaries fighting in other matches, and yet you want to promote a match between two guys with the combined age of 107 as a bigger deal.

If you keep matches like that in their proper context, I don't think anyone has a problem with it. Keep it as a side attraction somewhere in the midcard and its just something that's being put on the card to appease more people's tastes. Force that type of match down our throats and promote it as the biggest match of the night and THEN you piss people off.

A legends battle royal might work, but it would have to be actual "legends." Hogan. Flair. Piper. Savage. HBK. Austin. Steamboat. Funk. Foley (if he wants to). Lord only knows how they'd book it with all of the egos involved, but it would certainly rule.

Great job again, Dean. The Meanie-sault was a thing of beauty. I know it would have messed up the easily identifiable bWo shirt but I was hoping you could capture the torn shirt. Every time Meanie went to fix his shirt I busted up.
