Shit, I woke up late this morning. it already after 1pm. Anyway, here's some stuff I heard about yesterday at the MARVEL and DC Panels.
DC has a new INFINITY INC series coming out written by Peter Milligan.
Booster Gold is also getting his own series after 52 that will be written by Geoff Johns and drawn by Dan Jurgens, which sounds cool.
The Authority might pop up in one of the last issues of 52.
Mark Waid will be leaving LEGION OF SUPERHEROES (Finally!!! God I hated his run…) and will be replaced by Tony Bedard who wrote Marvel’s EXILES which was pretty good.
Somehow, I missed Gnort having gotten killed at some point in the past few years. This was mentioned during the DC NATION panel yesterday. This saddens me to no end. I was hoping someone could do a series for him the way Keith Giffen did his DRAX THE DESTROYER series and turn him into a bad ass character at some point.
NEW AVENGERS/TRANSFORMERS does NOT impress me very much.
WORLD WAR HULK will drain my wallet with multiple tie-ins like WORLD WAR HULK: FRONTLINE, WORLD WAR HULK: YOUNG AVENGERS, WORLD WAR HULK: X-MEN (Which will NOT feature Juggernaut, which sucks.), WORLD WAR HULK: GAMMA CORPS, as well as ongoing series tie-ins with GHOST RIDER (Which I’ll pass on cause the book sucks!), IRON MAN, AVENGERS, HEROES FOR HIRE, ANT-MAN… mother FUCK I hate Marvel.
AVENGERS CLASSIC sounds cool. It’s a new reprint series that will feature covers by Art Adams and all new back-up stories by different writers and artists, kinda like the old X-MEN CLASSICS series. The first issue also has a bonus story written by Stan Lee and drawn by Kevin Maguire. Fucking awesome!
SPIDER-MAN/RED SONJA is either a one shot or a Mini-series. I wasn’t clear on this cause the guy next me was an asshole.
Lastly, there’s a RUNAWAYS spinoff coming called LONERS. I fear for this book.
In some Indy news, IDW just made a pretty big announcement. Off the heels of the recently released Buffy: Season 8, Joss Whedon will now co-write Angel: Season 6, which will be the official follow-up to the show. So those (like me) who have been ACHING to find out what happened in the alley that fateful night will finally have the answers revealed from the man himself. Not to mention that if it's anything like this first issue of Buffy, then it should definitely be worth reading.

I love Booster, but I don't think he'll be able to keep my interest in an ongoing series. Most of his appeal is his chemistry with other characters, especially those of the Giffen JLI era. Now that most of those characters are either dead (Blue Beetle, Max Lord, Ralph and Sue Dibny) or have other places to be (Fire, Mary Marvel, Guy Gardner), I just don't know if Booster can keep me interested.

Might possibly surpass "Superman/Batman vs. Alien/Predator" as the worst crossover of the year.

I wonder if Joe Quesada was feeding people the line about how they don't NEED to buy the other series to keep up with the main one? That might have held true for House of M, but people got lost quickly during Civil War if they weren't also reading the Amazing Spider-man and Fantastic Four tie-ins. I'm personally betting on the former, since Illuminati members are littering nearly every Marvel book right now. As for the Juggernaut, if Marvel wants him in bad enough, they'll get him in (IGN Comics actually reported that fans were chiming in with ways to get Juggs in). If it's WORLD WAR HULK, I would think New Excalibur would get in the mix somehow. And besides, they'd be nuts to deny fans a sure crowd-pleaser like Hulk vs. Juggernaut.

Sounds like a one-shot to me, that will supposedly tie into both characters' continuity. This has the potential to be really cool or really, REALLY bad. I'm personally hoping for the former (because, really, who roots for comics to suck?).

At the very least, I'm intrigued by the fact that they're bringing Phil Urich out of mothballs.

I'm getting there, I'm just slow.
Marv Wolfman says that his TEEN TITANS movie will feature Terra getting killed… again. (Hahaha!)
UNCLE SAM AND THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS is getting another mini-series.
Grant Morrison is working on new SEVEN SOLDIERS stuff. They also will be featured in COUNTDOWN.
A new NEW WARRIORS book is set to feature characters not seen in the past books. (…then why bother?)
NAMOR is getting another new book as well, which will probably not make it to issue #12.
THOR #1 comes out in July. That’s pretty much all they said about it, sadly.
With him being the main bad guy in the IRON MAN movie, The Mandrin will be making a big splash later this year in IRON MAN, but he’ll be ‘modernized’, which I guess means he won’t be sicing Fin Fang Foom after Tony Stark anymore.
DEADPOOL AND THE GREAT LAKES AVENGERS. How fucking awesome will THAT be!!!
Clint Barton will be popping back into the Marvel Universe next year, but NOT as Hawkeye. (…fucking Bendis!)
Joss Whedon, ‘Internet Demi-God’, was the asshole who came up with the ending to CIVIL WAR.
We have not seen the last of the ‘Spider-Armor’.
IDW wanted to do a STAR WARS/TRANSFORMERS crossover when the STAR WARS TRANSFORMER toys came out, but Lucas didn’t like the idea and said no… thankfully.
30 DAYS OF NIGHT: BEYOND BARROW will be drawn by Bill Sienkiewicz!
ANGEL, like BUFFY, will be given a new season in comic form. Joss Whedon is only ‘co-writing’ though.
SCARFACE (Al Pacino!) is coming to comics as a prequel about Tony Montana in Cuba. Interesting…
IDW’s STAR TREK books look GREAT! One of them is called STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES – YEAR FOUR.
I'm just doing some shopping today, I don't think there are any panels worth waiting around for, so I'm hitting AMOEBA RECORDS to spend tons of cash and I'll be seeing EL TOPO on a big screen, which is pure ecstacy for me.
It was my understanding that the new Namor title was going to be a mini. Did it get upgraded to ongoing? Because even though I'm a huge Sub-Mariner fan, I'd agree that it'd be lucky to see 12 issues. I mean, I'd buy it, but I bought all 12 issues of Thanos.
I know a lot of long term fans of Thunderbolts are pissed about the change of direction, but it is a pretty good read. At least they did leave a few of the old characters in the book. Watching Norman slowly lose it is going to be pretty cool.
