I have my reservation for a download, waiting for it to come through. Can't wait to see what it's like. All the indications show it will be fairly good and a significant upgrade from the Version 7 I am running (hated 8.1 so much I wouldn't get it).

Anybody else going to be downloading and using this?

I'm kind of hesitant to upgrade my Windows 8 PC and risk any of the stuff I need not working for a few weeks, but I've been holding of on getting a new laptop until this release and now I can start looking. Everything sounds positive about it so far.

I grabbed a reservation and then cancelled it, because there has to be a catch, right? I have 8.1 I wouldn't mind upgrading, but I wasn't sure if I had some kind of better agreement since I paid for 8.1. If I'm getting 10 for free can't they change the rules at anytime? I don't know. I'm not a tech guy, but you know that. I'll do it if you all do it.

I'll be upgrading from 7 whenever Microsoft can be bothered to push it to me.

My existing machine is an Ivy Bridge-era box bought just before Windows 8 came out. Didn't bother upgrading since I didn't have a touch screen and I was happy with 7 anyway.

My cousin got 10 on his machine this morning and seems to think it's pretty cool.

I thought Windows' new model was that you had to pay for their product via an annual subscription. I KNOW that's what they're doing with the Office suite, and just assumed that was happening with 10.

I haven't scheduled my "upgrades" (multiple systems) yet.

Nah. If you upgrade to Windows 10 in the next 365 days, you get a full version with no subscription cost (and no cost for updates or anything) for the lifetime of Windows 10.

No one's gone on the record with what happens if you wait a year to upgrade - Microsoft is hinting there will be a upgrade cost - but you don't pay anything more once you upgrade. It's closer to the iOS model than the Office suite one.

Thanks for the update. Meanwhile, our IT Department has said hold off on any work upgrades until they've had a chance to do testing. not surprising, I'd say.

Upgraded mine from Windows 7 to 10 yesterday. You can wait for the install to come to you, or you can go to the link below and jump ahead to get your upgrade.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

So far, so good. Although I will say I had heard that Edge would give Chrome a run for it's money speedwise, but the few times I've used it, I haven't noticed that much difference between it and it's predecessor.

I just got it, and even though I just messed with it for a couple of minutes I like it a lot better already. I didn't realize how annoying 8.1 was on a computer. I just got used to the dumb things it did.

I'm one of the few doofs with a Windows phone, but I like the tile system on that, but putting it in the start menu is much nicer.

10 downloaded to me last night finally.

About twenty minutes to upgrade, and as painless as any upgrade I've ever done.

Had to make just a few changes (one regedit, a switch to where I have Photos stored for the album, and a default program switch), but basically everything else is right where I left it.

The interface is nicer than 7, the machine is noticeably faster, and mostly functions the same.

Keep in mind that your CD-Rom and CD seem to be other common elements. Can you test a different CD drive (do you have more than 1?) Do you have access to another computer to do some testing?
