They'll probably change the title of the link soon. Here's what it says, regardless.
In accordance with its Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy, WWE has suspended Darren Matthews (William Regal) for 60 days for his second violation of the company’s policy.
I was beginning to like him too. Anyway, that explains this past RAW, at least.
Guess that explains Raw last night. I was hoping they were just moving him to Smackdown to add a main eventer to their ranks.
I'm always saddened when these wellness policy violations come up. With all the problems he's had in the past with Substance Abuse you'd think he'd be clean. :\

Regal looked like he knew he blew his last best chance when he was leaving the ring. They wouldn't make an example of Jeff Hardy because he can bring in the teeny-boppers, so Regal might be getting one of those 'We have decided to terminate our relationship' letters in about 60 days as a message to the public and locker room.
Sadly, they may as well just go ahead and fire the guy for real. He has proved that they can't depend on him in recent years. If he violates the policy during his best push in years, when would he NOT violate the policy?
Speaking of, they may have to second guess any serious push for Jeff Hardy after this. Repeated offenders are not main event material. Maybe when Regal comes back, they can feud with each other? It's just pitiful.

I don't think they should fire him for a second offense anymore than they should fire anyone else for a second offense. It's a huge letdown since we were going to see him near the top of the card, but they should stick to the policy as it is written.

Yeah, but what do you do with him? He's not getting anywhere near the push he had going when he comes back, and is he worth bringing back just to stick in mid-card purgatory for however long he has left on his contract? If they went ahead and dumped him now, TNA might be interested, but if they leave him twisting for 2 or more months, and then do something, I don't see TNA wanting him.
Bottom line is that he was in the middle of the best push he's had in a while, and stil managed to flunk a test, so really, there's no one to blame here but himself.

Exactly. I used to be a huge Jeff Hardy fan, but after his second strike he might as well be out of the WWE in my eyes because I now know he will never be allowed to attain stardom in the WWE. From now on he will be the wrestler that always just falls short of being on the same level as the top stars in the WWE. I have no reason to get excited over any sign of a push Jeff might get in the future because I'll always know in the end it won't go anywhere that's significant.
The best part of waking up, is not Folgers in your cup, but knowing that Chuck Norris didn't kill you in your sleep.
The entire situation bothers me. I'm wondering if it's for painkillers or something else. If anything, the entire "I used to be a huge fan of [insert name here] but..." seriously bugs me. My appreciation for Hardy hasn't diminished because of his drug policy issues; and my appreciation for Regal won't either.
I think many people forget that even WWE superstars aren't perfect; they have flaws and make mistakes like the rest of us. The only issue is that when they fuck up, it's made public.
To Regal: I hope he gets the therapy he needs, and I look forward to his return.

Ehhh, they won't fire him. At the very least, he'd have to lose the King title first. ;-)

This *should* lead you (and you!) to conclude that e-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y is violating the policy, but not too many people have actually been getting CAUGHT violating the policy.
To be fair, I am no less of a fan of Jeff or Regal now, but am disappointed that they blew their big, and perhaps last chances. Their health is the important thing, but career wise, they have most likely peaked. That is sad considering both guys are unique and have such potential.
It makes me wonder, if there was a wellness policy in 96-97, would Shawn Michaels ever have won the title?

Vince was so desperate to get ratings from Nitro that Michaels could've snorted a line of coke off the ring ropes and not been punished.
“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras
Also keep in mind that Regal may not have flunked his test Monday morning. Seeing as we know...about nothing, this very well may have been from before his uber-push kicked in after that trip to England.

Yup. There's a fairly good chance that since he knew he was going to be main eventing soon that he felt he should get into main event shape.

Teddy Long got "fired" as assistant GM on Friday Night Smackdown last week (thus freeing him up to take over Regal's GM spot on Raw), and that show was taped on Tuesday. So I have to assume that it all went down shortly before last Tuesday.

Really? Does this only go for the ones that are busted, cause I'd bet my life that there is more then one main eventer right now that is on shit. Tell me honestly that you don't think Batista, Helmsley, Orton, yeah... even Cena. The only problem is that I'd bet they know when thier testing time comes up and they 'make plans' for it.
What I'd like to know, is WHAT Regal was busted for. It's possible it was roids, but I'm leaning more towards pain medication or recreational drugs.
It depends. If what they meant to transcribe was, 'Goo-googa-joob,' it's a reference to The Beatles' "I Am the Walrus," off Magical Mystery Tour. If they really mean, 'koo koo ka choo,' I can't help ya.
