There are some interesting things in here, but I'd like to see the league go to three points for a win, with no shootouts, and maybe no overtime, like soccer does. The last five minutes of a tie game would be a lot better if there were two points to be had by getting the win.

I like the idea of bringing back tag-up offsides but don't like the automatic icing - true, it eliminates the one or two needless injuries that occur when a player slides into the boards at high speed whiling chasing an icing but it would take away from that offensive player that does hustle his ass down ice to get to the puck first
Hockey needs some changes but unfortunately it looks more and more like we will have at least a year and probably more to debate those changes......

And I really like the 3 point rule for a win, it really makes a giant different having 3 times the points for a win then a tie. That would make you go aggressive for the win if the game is tied. The current system the last minutes of the 3rd period you just play for the tie so you can get the guarantee point.

Me, that's who, in 2002, yeah hoo.

The solution? As with all of our problems -- look to Europe! The Futball way of getting rid of too many draws is to give THREE points for a win and ONE for a tie. A team who is 7-8-0 would have 21 points, while a team who is 5-5-5 would have 20 points.
When you are in a playoff race, you had better go for the win, overtime or no. The teams you are racing with certainly will be. A team who settles for draws during the season would be hard-pressed to make the playoffs. Damn sensible, I say.
